Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Apparently Features System-Wide Supersampling

Nesstark88

@Valyrious Never said 4K wasn't an improvement but I personally feel that it is not a very big one when viewed from far distances on 40-60 inch screens, HDR however can be noticed from across a room and regardless of TV screen size. During my 3 months working at superfi I spent allot of time with 4K TV's from LG, Samsung and Sony in particular and like I said before I would be quite happy with a 60" 1080p HDR TV, (which do exist) just my personal preference. It's not the resolution that people get sucked into it's the HDR and the wider color gamut that makes people buy a "4K" TV but many only understand things from a consumer level. Let me ask you this, have you seen a 4K movie scaled on a 1080p display, go check that out and then come back to me, I think you will be surprised at what you see. I would hope that my years spent as a film projectionist of 35mm film would count for something in terms of my eye for detail.

P.S when people are choosing a 4K TV in a shop they are usually standing a foot or two feet away from the screen vs when they are sitting at home 10 feet away sometimes more, something to take into account...

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Apparently Features System-Wide Supersampling

Nesstark88

@solocapers Agreed, to be honest a really good 1080p bluray master of films and especially TV shows still blows me away, Season 4 of lost on bluray is amazing picture quality, you can actually see that jack's beard is fake lol, I'd be happy with a 60'' 1080p HDR TV which is actually a thing lol. It's going to be up to each person to decide how long is long enough for them to wait.

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Apparently Features System-Wide Supersampling

Nesstark88

@solocapers "Hell even the best new led tvs barely reach 2000 nits as it is.. The top sets topping out at about 1700 cd/m2. Its really in its infancy." This is exactly why I'm holding out for a while, plus I would like to upgrade my sound system from a 7.2 channel to a 11.2 channel system. Dolby Vision is 12 bit if memory serves me right, those who wait for the tech to mature more will get a much better deal especially if they are on a tight budget like myself. Not only the hardware but the content will mature as well and require better hardware in order to make the most of the movie or game. Gran Turismo Sport is mastered at 10,000 nits with true wide color gamut far beyond what we currently have is capable of producing. There is already talk of 8K so it wont be too long before another big shake up lol

Re: PS4 Firmware Update 5.50 Apparently Features System-Wide Supersampling

Nesstark88

@Flopsy Because resolution isn't everything, HDR is the real upgrade that benefits all screen sizes. Currently the best HDR sets have Dolby Vision but they are quite pricey at the moment, no point going for a £400 "4K HDR" TV when it can't even reach 1,000 - 10,000 nits peak brightness and features HDR 10 instead of Dolby Vision which is superior to HDR 10 in every way along with all the other solutions, upgrade once rather than twice.

Re: PSN Down for Many as Monster Hunter: World Launches

Nesstark88

Those linear story games are looking pretty good now huh? lol I always make sure to have a few single player (Non-Online dependent) games with tasks left to complete for these special occasions. I'm currently enjoying Assassin's Creed Origins so personally, i'm not too bothered.

Re: PSN Engineers Working to Resolve Hiccups

Nesstark88

@get2sammyb Although this particular instance seems to be a small and short lived issue, this is one of the biggest reason single player games should never stop being made. Network down? oh well game on! Uncharted games, Tomb Raider games, The last of us, God of War, Assassin's creed Origins ect... the list goes on.

Re: New Tomb Raider Movie Trailer Reveals a Child's Destiny

Nesstark88

@get2sammyb lol those who want/ appreciate the best consistent quality do, those who don't, stream. Steaming still hasn't matched or surpassed the Consistent Audio and Video quality of Blurays and UHD Blurays plus it's very easy to convert those movies on disc to a lossless digital file backup to watch on apps like kodi as your own personal "Netflix" with no buffering or fluctuations in Audio & Video quality.

Re: Feature: 5 Ways PS4 Can Dominate in 2018

Nesstark88

The one area PS4 is failing in right now for me personally is in hardware features, there has been so much focus on next generation video (4K HDR) and zero attention to next generation audio for games and Netflix (Dolby Atmos, DTS X, Auro 3D) I know I sound like a broken record by now but I'm very passionate about sound mixing and sound design. Lets hope the PS5 brings these features along with a 4K UHD Bluray Drive.

The PS4 Media Player needs some obvious feature updates to come even close to being a go to app for watching one's personal digital movie collection and the YouTube app could do with supersampling 4K video down to 1080p for better quality videos on 1080p displays.

Re: UK Politicians and Campaigners Lobby Against Detroit: Become Human

Nesstark88

@get2sammyb The real issue is how video games (interactive entertainment/ media) is still viewed by many. As you pointed out, no one says anything really when it's an R rated movie because they understand that it's not meant for a younger audience but when it's a M / 18 rated game they have issues. They need to educate them selves, not all games are for kids. It's a foolish stigma...

Re: Poll: What Year Should Sony Launch the PS5?

Nesstark88

Considering the level of visual quality and performance in PSVR games right now, I would bet the next PS console would launch sooner rather than later to enhance the PSVR experience while it's still fresh in consumers minds. I doubt it will be called PS5 (Playstation 5) I think they will get rid of the numbering just a speculation... Graphics aren't the only thing that improves when a new console launches, it's overall feature set improves to, hopefully sony enhances the audio side as well with spatial sound / object based sound such as Dolby Atmos & DTS X support for games and a host of other innovative features...

4.2 GHz 8-core AMD CPU
8.4 TFLOP AMD GPU
16 GB GDDR5 RAM - Realistically 12GB
UHD BLURAY DRIVE
2TB HDD - Realistically 1TB

The above is basically two PS4 Pro's in one.

Re: PS4 Exclusive Ghost of Tsushima's Trailer Is Way Better in Japanese

Nesstark88

Here we go again, first Japanese anime's now games. I don't care about the language lending to authenticity because I don't speak the language. That's my personal feeling on the matter, I can enjoy films, anime and games much better when it's audio/dialogue is in English. I know there're many who like to think of them selves as "Japanese language purists" who insist on having any and everything Japanese made or themed in Japanese.

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part II's New Trailer Too Much?

Nesstark88

Anyone shocked by the violence in the new footage/trailer obviously haven't played the first "the last of us" game or seen the entire play-through on YouTube. There are many many many violent video games out there, we have established that video games are not just for children anymore, they have more real world narratives and scenarios just like movies do. There is a difference between glorifying violence and simply understanding why a particular scene in a game or film is violent for the sake of moving and developing the story that's trying to be told.

Our society is already so violent, now imagine how much more violent it would be if society was to fall apart and we had to fight over food and clothes ect... I mean just watch black friday videos online and see how people treat each other over electronics, they would then kill for food.

Re: Rockstars Doubles Down on Single Player Games

Nesstark88

@Flurpsel The feature currently exists in the game for players who don't want to deal with idiotic racers who like to block the road with their cars, drive in the opposite direction and crash into other player or simply push or ram other players off the track!

Re: Rockstars Doubles Down on Single Player Games

Nesstark88

GTA Online is a success financially for rockstar but for those who no longer play GTA Online it's a failure, in my opinion they have and continue to ruin the game by making it increasing hard to have fun. I sold my copy 3 days ago after not playing it for months. They are trying so hard to force pvp in every aspect of Online and it's not even balanced but I guess many people love the chaos.

You have to do all your CEO activities in a public session or you can't do them at all, so if you don't have an empty session all to your self prepare to get harassed by other players and loose lots of time and money, I thought we would be able to have like 12 friends working for a CEO instead of just 4, 4 players cant protect anything in a public session with 25 crazy players. The racing is another failing area, if a clean, fair fun race is what you are after just forget about it, non-contact races are few and far between.

I could go on and on but in short they have made many aspects of the game tedious rather than fun.

Re: Review: Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

Nesstark88

@HefHughner "At the end of the day though the traditional campaign mode of Gran Turismo was three things, fun, challenging and rewarding and I feel the same can be said for the new campaign mode! in fact it's way more rewarding than the previous GT campaign modes. It's all about perspective, the right perspective, not simply what it appears to be on the surface. What we are use to isn't all there but it's not totally gone either as many on the internet would have us believe.
Just last night I was taken back to my days of playing GT2 when I was forced to go under the hood of my car to fine tune it in order to beat this car in first place that I just could not catch no matter how well I drove, but as soon as I tweaked my max horse power and gear ratio it was a done deal. Who ever does not try this game for them selves to come to their own conclusions will be the ones missing out on fun, challenging and rewarding gameplay not reviewers."

Re: Review: Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

Nesstark88

@adf86 My thoughts exactly!!! HERE! HERE! so many want to have their cake and eat it to, in the real world sacrifices / compromises have to be made, in the end it's impossible to please everyone.

Re: Review: Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

Nesstark88

@get2sammyb You're telling me lol I remember grinding that sunday cup to save up for cars in the past, now it's so easy to reach 1,000,000 credits because the game does reward you for so many things. It's a rocky start but I feel the best is yet to come.

Re: Review: Gran Turismo Sport (PS4)

Nesstark88

My advise to everyone is to play the full version of the game for your selves and form your own conclusions, that being said my personal opinion is this. Although the traditional campaign mode is gone the driving school & mission challenges mode feels allot like the traditional licence test mode of previous Gran Turismo games, the mission challenges mode has a few elements/race types that fans of the series are use to. At the end of the day though the traditional campaign mode of Gran Turismo was three things, fun, challenging and rewarding and I feel the same can be said for the new campaign mode! it's all about perspective, the right perspective, not simply what it appears to be on the surface. What we are use to isn't all there but it's not totally gone either as many on the internet would have us believe.

Grace & Peace

Re: Feature: DriveClub Is An Alternative to Gran Turismo Sport Worth Considering

Nesstark88

LOL! DriveClub makes you feel like you're driving a hired car or a friends car, the cars NEVER feel like your own, yeah you can drive it but that's it! customization? changing the paint and patterns? HA! Whatever. Not to take away from the other things that Driveclub does get right but personally, I've had more fun in the Gran Turismo Open Beta than I have had in my entire time playing DriveClub.

Re: Adding Returning Characters to Tekken 7 'Is Not So Simple', Says Director Harada

Nesstark88

I think time is the solution here, give players a fair amount of time to adjust and learn the characters available now, then when that time has passed add older characters in, I would like to see kunimitsu return. You know what's funny though, he says all this while adding characters from other fighting games lol, how many did they say? four characters from other fighting games, correct me if I'm wrong about the number.

Re: Tekken Players Don't Use Tutorials, Says Series Director

Nesstark88

Many of the skills I have learned in Tekken have come from observation, accidentally and by trial and error. Side-stepping and blocking are pretty straight forward as well as how to perform high, mid and low kicks & punches, grabs & throws. Anything more than that then take it to the practice mode to learn new moves, even the rage art moves are super easy! lol

Re: Gran Turismo Sport's HDR Implementation Is Drawing a Lot of Praise

Nesstark88

I won't be upgrading to a 4K HDR TV until better TV's are available, what I mean is, TV's that take more/better advantage of the HDR specification and for sure it has to have Dolby Vision (12bit) dynamic HDR. To be honest, to reap the benefits of 4K resolution you need a big screen because on two 42" displays the further away you are from the screen the less noticeable the difference between 1080p and 4K are. With HDR however you can notice it from across a room, it's striking. For me personally HDR has my interest more than 4K does. Viewing distance in relation to screen size is very important. P.S how many people calibrate their TV's to get optimal picture quality and balance, I bet most people buy them, take them out the box and plug them in, job done, maybe they will use one of the picture presets which is not the same.

Re: Gran Turismo Sport's Attract Mode Is a Thing of Beauty

Nesstark88

Mastering a car and track just isn't "fun" for some, they prefer ramps, hot wheels style loops, smashing in to other drivers sending them flying off the road, driving through a gas station, blowing it up and getting xp bonuses.... Besides testing your skills and limits, customizing, collecting and learning about cars is very satisfying especially when the cars feel like your own and not rentals. It's no fault of the game if you don't find those things enjoyable, you just have different expectations compared to what the game is actually about, and maybe the game is dare I say too mature/serious for such a person.

Re: Gran Turismo Sport's Attract Mode Is a Thing of Beauty

Nesstark88

@SoulChimera Same, I think GT Sport is a long term investment that will grow gradually. It may not look like much now but all the things that are missing could easily be added in later via DLC. Kaz already said that many of the other car types fans are use to will be added later on. I see no reason why a few classic cup races can't be added later on "sunday cup" ect...

Re: Gran Turismo Sport's Demo Will Break Your Bandwidth Cap

Nesstark88

All downloaded and ready, booted it up, calibrated the screen/ video settings and configured the audio settings, that's all that can be done for now until it unlocks fully on the 9th. Loving the music; overall atmosphere and visual presentation thus far though. p.s apparently it's possible to use turn signals and hazard light in the game using the touchpad, this is news to me lol.

Re: Revised PlayStation VR Model Adds HDR Passthrough

Nesstark88

Welcomed improvements but seriously, you mean to tell me that they really could not make the new processing unit compatible with the old headset by using the same type and size socket? As I understand it the cable is thinner but how would that effect the socket/ connection? Why use a different socket/connection. I don't know, seems like they just don't want to sell the processor separately simple as that. If you want HDR you have to buy the new model.
