@Futureshark Namco's best lightgun game though... not time crisis, not even point blank... but rather Quick & Crash... is a work of genius if you've ever played it. And, it's honoured in APVR! (It's called Smash 'em).
On the logo screen for the main game, before main menu and loading into game.. Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, circle, cross... When you hit cross it takes you to main menu. If you did it right the main menu will have a golden washing machine on it
I think that's fixed too. Pretty sure it is. We'll be posting a changelist somewhere (probably Twitter) when we're ready to go. It's grown from 70 to almost double that I think.
@Ssimsim so a number will disappear if it's in a line that's made up of that many blocks either horizontally or vertically. That's pretty much it.
The [=] and [-] blocks are just hidden numbers. So you need something next to them to make them show what number is behind them. Might need to change the visual of those a bit.
@Ssimsim We've patched once which fixed 5 crashes. We have another, much bigger patch in testing at the moment with 70+ fixes, tweaks, rebalances and improvements. Hope to have that ready soon.
@BamBamBaklava89 nope. 9am-2am is the work day. 1 min = 1 hour until you buy the space time book which slows down time. Basically an in ge day takes about 15 mins.
@jgrangervikings1 one reason we didn't try to license and emulate is so we could have way more freedom. Obviously arcade games are amazing. But they were built for sucking up your cash. We wanted to be able to make longer more modern experiences alongside high score chasers. Stuff that you wouldn't actually find in an arcade but that looks and feels like it belongs. So we have several games that might take 2-3 hours to complete just by themselves. That have their own upgrades and progress system and so on.
@jgrangervikings1 Hey. I'm the game director on the game. We do have playable pool, air hockey, darts, table football (fusball) and thump-a-gopher in game and so on.
I love how you touched on the excitement of walking in and seeing new stuff... This is something I really wanted to recapture. So the flow of the game is a little like this. You start off with a tiny back room. Like a storage closet with 3 arcade machines.
They make a fair bit of money so you buy more. Each time you buy one we do this totally over the top loot crate type animation of it getting dropped off. When you order new machines it's not always obvious what type of game it's going to be. I mean sure a darts game is but there might be a candy cab of setting where you're just like... Hmm I wonder what this will be like.
We want to recreate that feeling when you were a kid of buying a new game and running home to put it on, or like you say, walking into an arcade and seeing all of this stuff just waiting to be played.
@hi_drnick Nah. We want players to unlock something new every 15 minutes-ish. You start with 3 games already unlocked and as part of the tutorial you get to pick the next one. Your first upgrade (from stinky back room to first extension of arcade) comes once you have 5 machines.
We debated licensed games for quite a while but we really wanted to the creative freedom to do whatever we wanted. Although everything looks like arcade games not everything plays like that. We have some much longer games with their own progression systems and so on, which obviously was not really the case with real arcade games, designed to take your money as efficiently as possible.
PROTIP: If you don't want to stress about washing you can put the Konami code into the front end and you'll always S-Rank washing, meaning you can just chill and play games. Also unlocks a trophy.
@Khayl Racer Chaser! Yeah. It's an homage to 2 games (3 actually). I used to work with one of the designers of the original GTA and he always said GTA is just Pac-Man with cars. It's always stuck with me. We decided to just run with that. So basically you're driving around in a yellow lambo picking up cash evading cops. BUT the cop AI is exactly the same as the ghosts in pacman and the power pellets are rampage tokens so you upgrade to a tank. The main difference is if you get "caught" you don't lose a life. Instead you get out of the car and run around blasting cops with your boombox (in a nod to Saints Row's dubstep gun).

Re: Go Behind the Scenes with Insert Coin: The Making of Arcade Paradise
@Blofse in the UK there's definitely a bit of a resurgence of retro arcades with an entry fee and machines set to freeplay.
I assume you didn't get on with Pinball arcade? I personally LOVED the Star Trek TNG table. Very close to the original physical one imo.
