Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 580

Finally got a chance to get back to The First Descendant after giving it a quick go back at release. Enjoying it too… finding it quite relaxing and almost meditative, don’t have to think about anything just run from point-to-point laying waste to everything in your way. The one drawback is the rng grind, which seems far more stingy than the percentage-chance stated in-game. At the end of the day it’s free though, so you can stomach it… just about šŸ˜….

Maybe a round or two on PGA 2K23 too, which I started this week. I’ve always liked golf games ever since playing the hell out of Leaderboard Golf on the C64… and having a good time with this all these years later.

Happy weekend folks!

Just about halfway through my Dante Must Die run on Devil May Cry HD and it’s as insane as I was led to believe! The boss fights at this difficultly are just something else… and even though I’m just this one trophy away from the platinum rn, I’m still not overly confident that I’ll be up to the task of seeing this one through.

Hope all of your weekends are less stressful than mine šŸ˜…

Re: Poll: Are You Disappointed by the GTA 6 Delay?

Honestly… I’m quite relieved! I’ve been a massive fan… a midnight purchaser since falling head-over-heels for GTA3 but I am rammed with games. Take all the time you need lads, I’m busy as a springtime bee šŸ

@TimeDelayedGamer yeah I won’t be bothering going for S Ranks when doing my Dante Must Die run as it isn’t required for the platinum. I know it is for the later games though, so I’ll be attempting it on them at the very least. Just getting the platinum on this one will more than satiate me tbh šŸ˜…

Just a little ways into my Hard playthrough of Devil May Cry having finished my first run on Normal last night. I’m actually pretty surprised by how difficult I found some of the later bosses on Normal, so these subsequent difficulties are gonna be issues, no doubt about it.

As far as the game goes, I like it well enough… but not as much as I was expecting to. I get that it was the progenitor of the Character-Action genre and limited by the hardware available at the time… but I’m not enjoying the combat as much as I did with other games within the genre that came later. I have a feeling 3, 4 and 5 will address my issues when I get to them though. Happy wknd y’all!

Re: PS5 Suddenly a Hot Product in Japan, But as a Rental

Mad how things go with PlayStation offerings. 99% of people thought the Portal, the Edge and the rental service were clearly terrible decisions… and then once the data is accrued, all three are demonstrable successes beyond even Sony’s expectations. Just goes to show that while we may be the hardcore, we know very little about the masses and their wants and needs.

Made a start on my invisible enemies playthrough of Resident Evil HD this morning. It’s the fifth and what should be my final run… and it’s been quite the journey. I’m sure that it comes as no surprise to anyone that I think it’s great and really looking forward to playing the subsequent entries over the next few years.

No rest for the wicked though as although this platinum has been a challenge for sure, the next one on the docket (which I’ll be starting Tuesday) is gonna be an absolute **** šŸ¤¬ā€¦ and may well prove to be beyond me.

Re: Bloober Team's Cronos: The New Dawn Has Dead Space Vibes in Promising New Gameplay

Even though I only played a bit of Silent Hill 2 Remake on the missus’ account (i’m saving it for a proper time-investment on my own) it was enough to move Bloober from ā€˜not bothered’ to ā€˜I’m in’ on this.

I love Dead Space and this is looking like a closer experience to that than The Callisto Protocol was ever gonna be. Hope it reviews well and it’s a buy from me.

Re: Bungie's New PS5 Shooter Marathon Grabs September Release Date

@ZeroSum look, I hope that my doubts and concerns are proved wrong, both Bungie and Sony really need a win here (Bungie just in general and Sony on a Live Service platform)… but I’m sure they both need it to be considerably more successful than a niche game mode on COD that no longer gets support due to hacking.

It sounds like Bungie has bet the farm on this one and would need it to at least be as successful as the Destiny series (a decade-long cash cow).

@Sanquine aye but with Helldivers 2 it’s purely pve… this looks to have a hefty part of its format as pvp. I think that might well dilute the number of players willing to dedicate the amount of hours this’ll need to succeed. I’m not saying it will fail… I’m saying I have my doubts.

Started Resident Evil HD on Wednesday and am šŸ¤ close to the end of my first playthrough with Jill on Normal, so should finish that off today.

After some initial teething-problems with the controls and the save-system, it’s grown on me quite a bit and can fully appreciate its classic status within the gaming pantheon. Only 3 or 4 playthroughs left after that for the plat šŸ˜….
