@LazyLombax well⦠first off youāll be luck to get ādecentā when it comes to live service if the percentages are anything to go by and second, it sounds like this is your era. Enjoy the collapse
I think even the biggest idiot can see why Sony are chasing the GaaS bag⦠itās just that it fails so often. Itās like taking your life savings to Vegas⦠sure you might come away with a big win, probably not though.
Finally got a chance to get back to The First Descendant after giving it a quick go back at release. Enjoying it too⦠finding it quite relaxing and almost meditative, donāt have to think about anything just run from point-to-point laying waste to everything in your way. The one drawback is the rng grind, which seems far more stingy than the percentage-chance stated in-game. At the end of the day itās free though, so you can stomach it⦠just about š .
Maybe a round or two on PGA 2K23 too, which I started this week. Iāve always liked golf games ever since playing the hell out of Leaderboard Golf on the C64⦠and having a good time with this all these years later.
I rarely play games at release as my backlog is just so rammed⦠this is one game Iāll make an exception for though. Playing it while there are large playing numbers will just add so much more to the experience.
The original Journey to the Savage Planet was a pleasant surprise actually, so Iāll probably pick up the sequel at some point. Have quite liked what Iāve seen of The Midnight Walk too, so will be interested to see how that reviews.
Just about halfway through my Dante Must Die run on Devil May Cry HD and itās as insane as I was led to believe! The boss fights at this difficultly are just something else⦠and even though Iām just this one trophy away from the platinum rn, Iām still not overly confident that Iāll be up to the task of seeing this one through.
Hope all of your weekends are less stressful than mine š
@PlatinumMikey there was honestly something magical about queueing up outside your local Game in the build up to a midnight launch. You felt like all of a sudden the basement-dwellers took over town š. Good times.
Honestly⦠Iām quite relieved! Iāve been a massive fan⦠a midnight purchaser since falling head-over-heels for GTA3 but I am rammed with games. Take all the time you need lads, Iām busy as a springtime bee š
@ZeroSum the combat was pretty stellar in Neir: Automata and Final Fantasy XVI to be fair. As someone who loved playing both, Iāll be interested to see what comes of this for sure.
Love how games industry analysts eventually get to the perception of the average gamer about 4 years later š¤£. Potential investors would be better off taking a trip to Vegas than listening to these guys.
@TimeDelayedGamer yeah I wonāt be bothering going for S Ranks when doing my Dante Must Die run as it isnāt required for the platinum. I know it is for the later games though, so Iāll be attempting it on them at the very least. Just getting the platinum on this one will more than satiate me tbh š
Just a little ways into my Hard playthrough of Devil May Cry having finished my first run on Normal last night. Iām actually pretty surprised by how difficult I found some of the later bosses on Normal, so these subsequent difficulties are gonna be issues, no doubt about it.
As far as the game goes, I like it well enough⦠but not as much as I was expecting to. I get that it was the progenitor of the Character-Action genre and limited by the hardware available at the time⦠but Iām not enjoying the combat as much as I did with other games within the genre that came later. I have a feeling 3, 4 and 5 will address my issues when I get to them though. Happy wknd yāall!
Glad itās doing well, probably not as well as Ubi need⦠but what they needed was a miracle! Big fan of the series and have been working my through them two-per-year the last few years. Should get to Shadows by 2028-ish š (although Iāve already got it sitting on the shelf).
Mad how things go with PlayStation offerings. 99% of people thought the Portal, the Edge and the rental service were clearly terrible decisions⦠and then once the data is accrued, all three are demonstrable successes beyond even Sonyās expectations. Just goes to show that while we may be the hardcore, we know very little about the masses and their wants and needs.
Made a start on my invisible enemies playthrough of Resident Evil HD this morning. Itās the fifth and what should be my final run⦠and itās been quite the journey. Iām sure that it comes as no surprise to anyone that I think itās great and really looking forward to playing the subsequent entries over the next few years.
No rest for the wicked though as although this platinum has been a challenge for sure, the next one on the docket (which Iāll be starting Tuesday) is gonna be an absolute **** š¤¬ā¦ and may well prove to be beyond me.
Even though I only played a bit of Silent Hill 2 Remake on the missusā account (iām saving it for a proper time-investment on my own) it was enough to move Bloober from ānot botheredā to āIām inā on this.
I love Dead Space and this is looking like a closer experience to that than The Callisto Protocol was ever gonna be. Hope it reviews well and itās a buy from me.
Really hoping this game turns out great. The end-results of my major hopes for original ip from little-known devs has been great these last couple of years what with how Lies of P and Black Myth Wukong turned-out⦠and this is the third of the three Iāve been following intently since their initial reveals. š¤
@ZeroSum look, I hope that my doubts and concerns are proved wrong, both Bungie and Sony really need a win here (Bungie just in general and Sony on a Live Service platform)⦠but Iām sure they both need it to be considerably more successful than a niche game mode on COD that no longer gets support due to hacking.
It sounds like Bungie has bet the farm on this one and would need it to at least be as successful as the Destiny series (a decade-long cash cow).
@Sanquine aye but with Helldivers 2 itās purely pve⦠this looks to have a hefty part of its format as pvp. I think that might well dilute the number of players willing to dedicate the amount of hours thisāll need to succeed. Iām not saying it will fail⦠Iām saying I have my doubts.
Iām sure itāll be very good for what its attempting to be but⦠Iām not sure that there are the number of gamers out there that actually want this (extraction shooter), that would be required for the game to thrive.
Started Resident Evil HD on Wednesday and am š¤ close to the end of my first playthrough with Jill on Normal, so should finish that off today.
After some initial teething-problems with the controls and the save-system, itās grown on me quite a bit and can fully appreciate its classic status within the gaming pantheon. Only 3 or 4 playthroughs left after that for the plat š .
