you betcha! i'm willing to dish out close to $100 for getting store special goods in Japan for Kuro no Kiseki II. i'll probably have to wait 2 or 3 weeks before i actually get to play it, but hey it beats having to wait 2 or 3 years amirite?
this is exactly the reason why i decided to import all of Falcom's games. not only that but Japan always gets awesome store exclusive preorder merch too.
i've also staved off getting a PS5 with plans on getting the revision model (a custom i've always practiced since the PS2 days), but w/ Kuro II being released on the PS5 i'm probably going to buck that trend this year.....assuming i can even get my hands on a system.
no one's pointing out the big elephant in the room: certain Chinese companies have been gobbling up Japanese devs as of late. they're basically the M$ in Japan in that they have more money to dish out than Sony ever can unfortunately.
feels good to see my 1 digit added in that 50,114 number for Kuro no Kiseki. the tweaks they did to the battle & orbment systems actually are quite different from Sen but has the same feel and flow as all the other Kiseki games. definitely enjoying my time with it so far.
People definitely need to play these 2 before starting Hajim-.....err, Reverie for sure since the Crossbell gang are practically the center piece to the whole story.
eagerly waiting for anything new about Kuro, but since this stream is catering to the Western audience pretty sure it won't be shown. just 3 more months though! 🙃
i should chime in and probably hammer in just how awesome the battles are. one thing that wasn't mentioned in the review was the tower defense-like battles that you can take on (similar to Ys VIII when you protected the fort from invaders).
just like its predecessor, there are some helluva crazy battles waiting in store for you. it can get to the point that there are so many more enemies on screen at the same time compared to even VIII's max amount thrown at you. with all the insane chains into finishers pulled off one after another while whole hordes of enemies kept coming at me, i had to let out a "yeah, this is definitely an Ys game" moment.
sure overall it's not at the same level of greatness as VIII (I've played all parts except V, and VIII is the best), but the battles are some of the best I've had for sure. there's a really good twist of the story at the climax of IX though so it's definitely a lot more memorable than other Ys series, excluding VIII of course.
@Lurker Hajimari does both actually. it basically wraps up the Skies/Ao/Zero/CS arcs just like how the 3rd did for Skies. but it also laid out the foundation of the new arc (all signs are pointing to the Calvard region) just like how Skies the 3rd set up Crossbell and Erebonia.
as one of the possibly very few people who's played ALL Kiseki games outside of Japan (including the recently released Hajimari), i can tell ya it's a completely different experience than those who only know of Sora and/or Sen only. it's like watching only the Iron Man & Captain America movies and then finishing with Avengers Endgame in the MCU. it's alright to do that but man you miss out on really good pieces of the metaverse, just like in Kiseki.
oh and if you thought the character management was crazy in Sen IV, then Hajimari will seem insane to many. it's almost a pseudo-strategy game with the amount of characters with all the weapons/gears/accessories/orbments to customize each one with PLUS being able to upgrade all the equipment for EACH character. it's mind boggling but oh so damn fun, especially when figuring out the ultimate combination of party members and their equipment. took me about 120 hours when finishing the true ending (as per usual for a Kiseki game).
