Saw grove was at the launch of the UFC 2 game he said he would consider going into MMA later in his career. I think he is just saying that because he was at the launch of the game. Its fine being a great boxer but there is so much more to the sport. To learn the ground game and kicking side takes a long time.

Has anyone bought the game? I pre-ordered it yesterday just waiting for it to arrive.

Rumours flying around about Mayweather fighting McGregor. Seems like the plot from a Hollywood movie rather than reality but looks like it will happen. Can not see how McGregor thinks he can beat Mayweather. Pure boxing is a very different sport and the gloves are also a lot more padded with more rounds. Also dropping down his weight again would be an issue. I guess it will be a huge payday for both fighter though. I always thought McGregor was taking the piss when he said he only fought for the money but guess that is a reality. He has fallen out with the UFC and if he does do this fight can not see him being welcomed back by White.

Been some good fights in UFC recently and some that really should have been stopped way before they were. Mighty Mouse was awesome as usual makes everyone else look ordinary. John Jones did not look that sharp in the ring but did what he needed to. I think if he had fought his original opponent he would have probably lost. He needs to get a lot sharper and have more fights under his belt. Not normally big watcher of Bellator but watched Michael Page fight and have to say he looked and business. That guy has got some amazing skills and can destroy people. He show boats but when he starts to fight he is great to watch. Would love to see him change to UFC.

Predictions for Khan tonight? Seems like he is the massive underdog can not see him winning but of course would like to see him win. Not sure where he goes if he loses he has had a lot of chances in the past.

Sad news in the Boxing World today, Muhammad Ali has passed. His glory days were a bit before my time but I remember watching him light the Olympic torch during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The man was not only a good boxer but he also had good moral standards. He also had a mastery of language that few boxers have matched. Sadly missed but forever remembered for what he achieved.

"Im so bad I make medicine sick" true sporting legend. His fights were before I was born so I never saw him at the top of his game, but his fights with Frazier and Foreman are some of the best ever.

Just like that...Michael Bisping is the new UFC champion and the first British one. I did not think he had much chance against Luke Rockhold but he took his chance and knocked him down. He took the match on 17 days notice so that makes it an even bigger achievement. Really happy for him he has been in MMA for so long and now he is champion.

So I’ve been a huge MMA fan since watching my first UFC event back in 2008 (UFC 81), not sure whether there are any other fans of the sport out there (or maybe of boxing given the threads title… so combat sports in general I guess) but if so, I’d love to chat over the fighters and the big events as they occur moving forwards.

I’ll leave you with this great video I found last night which perfectly encapsulates why I love the sport. A little profile of each fighter’s styles through highlights from some of their previous bouts… and then some footage of their classic fight from 2021. Not necessarily two or hall of famers, not even champions… but just a couple of top 10 fighters from arguably the most competitive division (Lightweight) with contrasting styles and personalities, that perfectly compliment each other for some great entertainment.

Keep your eye out for a couple of Matrix-style dodges from Fiziev about 2:18 in đź‘€:
