Re: Talking Point: Why the Low Expectations for PS4 at E3 Could Work in Sony's Favour

3rdEyeMind

The hype for Sony's E3 was/is incredibly high....i think the way Sony has allowed a couple of it's first party studios to admit they won't be at the conference can be taken in three ways.....1. That they are a little worried they won't live up to the lofty expectations, so they have let us know about these absences as a way to lower the expectations. 2. They are being cocky. They know they have a megaton E3 with games we know zero about and are letting us know that the games we know are in development, in this case Mm and GG, are NOT what make this E3 a megaton filled joy-fest. 3. They are merely playing games with us and those games will in fact be shown (and i guess 4. they generally couldn't make E3 and they are casually letting us know, no hidden agenda).

Either way, this E3 seems to have a lot more riding on them then the previous one as it really is....all about the games.

Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Duke Nukem vs. Johnny Gat

@kingston589

And you must not of been around for Duke's hey-day. Duke took down entire Alien Planets and saved the earth....FOUR TIMES.....all whilst chewing on a cigar, visiting strip clubs, weight lifting, wearing shades and spouting one-liners.....Always bet on DUKE.

Plus....Duke is one of the top five, maybe top 3 of the most influential characters in the history of gaming.....Gat will be forgotten before you know it.

Re: Ever Wondered What Duke Nukem Would Look Like as a Girl?

3rdEyeMind

This is a top-down, action RPG and you can find in-game screens on the games official website http://www.nogumneeded.com/ and they look glorious. I believe this teaser was done with the 2003 Duke Nukem Forever teaser in mind to parody.

Also, Interceptor Entertainment is an independent studio, not a AAA studio.

This game is the Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction game re-skinned.

It aims to be old-school, bark back to a time when games were hardcore, etc, etc.

Interestingly, PS4 is the only console you'll find this on.

Re: Feature: Eight Promising PS4, PS3, and Vita RPGs in 2014

3rdEyeMind

Out of the one's mentioned, i am excited for Lords of the Fallen, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines, Tales of Hearts R and Dragon Age.

There's also an RPG coming in September that Kotaku pointed out will be many people's most wanted game this year - The sequel to Trails In The Sky, Trails In The Sky 2: SC.

One of the PSP's best RPGs. A beautiful game with all the classic JRPG qualities - epic story, character development, customisation, huge world, detailed lore, turned-based battle system, craft syatem, mini-games and much more. I consider it a PSN game, though as it is not getting a box release. I played the original on my Vita for example and will, along with the majority of others, play the second chapter on Vita too.

So, yeah, TITS:SC is an RPG many are waiting for this year.

Re: Review: inFAMOUS: Second Son (PlayStation 4)

3rdEyeMind

I'm not an Infamous fan and i think an 8 for any game is fantastic, but I think the expectations for next-gen games is ridiculously high among gamers and critics. It's like a next-gen game has to have the greatest graphics known to man and the most innovative gameplay yet seen in the industry. We're unfortunately in that awkward phase at the start of a new gen.

Whatever happened to just enjoying the game...infact, the games atop of my most wanted list are mostly games not trying to be innovative etc such as Wolfenstein, Evil Within, Yakuza, Trails In The Sky II, Wrack and a host of indie or niche foreign games. As long as it stimulates me, i am done.

Re: Sony: PlayStation Vita Is Proving to Be a Big Niche Device

@AVahne

Yes, i'm aware, but it was easier to put that than to explain that you can buy most of the back library from the PS Store.

For me, having been unable to get into the PSP, this was a great feature because i admired a lot of PSP games. I just couldn't get down with the PSPs screen, size and feel (lack of two analogue sticks being the biggest factor). Now, with my Vita offering me all those PSP games, i feel as though my Vita now has an extra few hundred games to it's library! Also, my display picture here is of a game called "Legend Of Heroes: Trails In The Sky", a PSP game i discovered through the Vita that has quickly become one of my fave RPGS of recent times.

So that's my point about this feature the Vita has being quite a big factor for it.

Re: Sony: PlayStation Vita Is Proving to Be a Big Niche Device

3rdEyeMind

I think the Vita is growing at a steady, healthy pace. The remote play feature will be it's biggest food. I remember my time Working at GAME and i merely mentioned to someone who had recently bought a PS4 that they might want to invest in a Vita for remote play (as he was complaining of his wife not letting him have the console in his private room). He was shocked that it did such a thing! He bought a Vita on the spot and furthermore, someone listening in asked me if what i said is true, i shown him in the promotional pictures that it was....again, in disbelief, he bought one on the spot as he had just recently got his PS4 as well.

Couple that with how good the console is as well, with all the great games, PSP backwards compatibility, cross-buy products and heavy indie support and you have what many consider to be the greatest handheld ever made.

The Vita will continue to grow.

Re: Oh Dear, The Last Of Us Is Getting A Big Budget Movie Tie-in

3rdEyeMind

It would need to be a small budget film, perhaps independent. The Last of Us was not about big set pieces or action. It was about an intimate, emotional story between two people. It would need to maintain a grainy, "cheap" filter and stay away from the expensive, latest camera technology, etc.

As for how it would be done....well, i would be hear explaining for too long, but it would need to be extremely slow paced with lots of character development scenes, minimalistic, emphasis on the small (such as movement sounds, ambiance, human behavior such as sighing, grunts, face rubs, etc...or, if you remember in the game, that small glance at his broken watch after Ellie does something that reminds him of his daughter), mostly handheld cameras.....i could go on, but i suppose that ultimately, i am not fully in support of a big budget Last of Us film. The game was the film anyway, to be fair.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Thief Sneaks to the Software Summit

3rdEyeMind

This is one of those times, which is happening too often lately, where i completely disagree with the more negative reviews on this game.

I am having an absolute blast with it. It is more akin to the old-school than i originally thought and that is a very good thing. It is total, unedited stealth.....I question whether the modern ways of games like Dishonored (as good as it is) have affected the view on games like this which are stripped down, to-the-bones sneaking. No powers.

Anyway, Thief is a good game. Few niggles here and there, but it is a very deep experience.

Re: BioWare Is Thinking About Bringing the Mass Effect Trilogy to PS4

3rdEyeMind

I support this because some people missed out on it, especially Sony players, such as my friend.
The reason why he won't go back to it is because it is a long, time consuming, detailed trilogy and the new consoles are now out.

Putting them on the new consoles could see players like that give it a go.

It's a good job ME4 is going to be a total new start. That way, if people don't give the old trilogy a go, they can hop into the universe on a fresh take at the same time as the long-time fans......i just hope this new take is as good.

Re: Who Would Win Wednesdays: Wei Shen vs. Kazuma Kiryu

3rdEyeMind

@ShogunRok

That's exactly it.
Sleeping Dogs is more mainstream.

If you have played Yakuza then you automatically know that Kazuma is one of the greatest characters ever in gaming and definitely one of the toughest of all time.

Wei is a moment-character. He was not memorable and was also heavily influenced by Kazuma. He is quite the typical western character design.

It's just an absolute shame that not enough people have played one of Sony's greatest ever exclusives, Yakuza.

I hope Sony put one of them as a PS+ instant game one day.
