Great review. Thank you for addressing the pros and cons of this game while avoiding praising or bashing it based solely on your opinion. I couldn't agree more with this review. Level 49 already.
I would add that the balance of vehicular versus infantry combat feels balanced. Soldiers are little bullet spongy, and the balance between assault rifles and SMGs is questionable. Tanks seem too strong when blasted repeatedly with missiles from helos, which is frustrating because AA missiles feel spot on as a deterrent and when being shot down.
Not everyone loses with the new ammo system, which engages the player (or me, at least) to be thoughtful about my loadouts. Plus, there is often a workbench nearby just in case you want to change ammo type on a particular gun because you are not forward thinking enough to have versatility among your equipped arsenal. I am not defending Ubisoft's decision to do this, but saying everyone loses is a bit strong.
You now automatically loot enemies and animals, which removes my own major gripe about the Far Cry series. The previous looting animations (not to mention cutting plants!) just added too much wasted time to the game for people like me who want to search the fresh remains of your recent chaos.
Otherwise, screen tearing...yeah, it's still there but is noticeably improved compared to previous games. 60 FPS (most of the time) is AMAZING! The HUD inventory system is more streamlined that FC5. The ability to mix and match different armor is fun but (tip of the hat to the review) is far too fussy. The lack of FOV induces a little nausea for me when in corridors.
Just subscribed to EA Play for one month to try out the beta. I am really enjoying the QR code it keeps throwing at me while saying that I need to subscribe to EA Play. At this point (10/6, 10:20am MST), don't even bother. It doesn't work.
My tip for playing online: forget everything you know about football and pretend that there are 22 sprinters on a pitch immediately after drinking their weight in coffee and snorting enough cocaine to kill a humpback whale.
On YouTube jackfrags has a good video detailing some of the most recent info dump. After watching it, I get the sense that some of the language used by EA is vague enough that they are covering themselves in case they cannot live up to some of what they "plan" on doing. That said, it sounds like we may be able to play with only console users with cross-play. In my mind, that means Xbox and PS can play with one another but exclude PC users. If so, that's encouraging. Nothing against anyone playing on another platform, but getting repeatedly destroyed by mouse users is not my idea of fun.
I am taking a slight break from gaming at the moment due to moving. Honestly, it's been great! There are no upcoming games that excite me, and this just reinforces the importance of taking a break in moments like these. Good games will come along with time. Until then...
If you think of it as a blend of PvP and PvE, it sounds kind of cool. If they do enable cross play, I hope there's an option to play against only those using controllers. It extremely frustrating to get hammered by mouse users.
I checked out this game from local library about one month ago and tried to play it on my PS4 Pro. Before playing, I needed to invert the Y-axis, but doing so locked up the game and my system. It's still pretty bad. No way that I'm going to play this on my PS5 just to encounter a hard reboot on a brand new console.
There is still no reason to mock the way Jim looks.
@Gamer83 What are a few reasons they do not want to sell PS5s in stores? Genuinely asking here. Also, how about the people who need to buy them online? We are still in the middle of a global pandemic with a major chip shortage to throw into the mix.
Anyway, I'm not trying to argue. Just curious what anyone's ideas are to stop scalping because it seems insanely difficult to do so.
Wow. What's with the comments on his appearance. Not at all necessary. Also, interesting to read the comments to "do something." What do you think can really be done about it except not to buy one from them?
Looks like a fun game but maybe a little repetitive in that there could be a lack of innovation with combat. I'm a sucker for Soulsborne storytelling, though, which will be enough for me to be on board for Elden Ring despite anything else. I'm just hoping for 60fps on PS5.
Pretty much the only game that I am psyched for at this point. Far Cry 6 looks fun. Battlefield 2042 seems like a mixed bag. Salt and Sacrifice though...yes, please!
Looks fun. As for the graphics, next-gen graphics are not the leap in quality from the previous generation. Sure, ray-tracing is cool, but I can't be too excited for it. That's just a personal preference on my end though. I just hope it has better parrying than Souls 3. I could never get the hang of it...
Definitely uninterested. Not because it's EA, but because it is released a week later. For me, paying full price later is better than investing unnecessary time in a game that hasn't been reviewed. Especially when considering the unfinished state of many newly released games these days.
The major problem with BF games is finding a squad, which is hard to do without PS Communities. The in-game system (w/e it's called) has never worked for me. I must be looking in the wrong places. Any suggestions?
Bioware had a brief Golden Age of story telling with ME1 and DA Origins, which are two of (if not the) best written games I've played since 1985. They aren't games as much as interactive novels. Then EA acquired Bioware, and the Golden Age ended. EA definitely improved the gameplay, but the story telling was never the same.

Nice review. Thank you! A few extra thoughts.

Re: Battlefield 2042 'Looking to Achieve' Crossplay
I'm okay playing with anyone as long as they are using a controller. Anyone using a mouse has an unfair advantage in online shooters.
Re: PS Store Sales Charts: Cyberpunk 2077 Was June's Best-Selling PS4 Game Following PS Store Return
The game hard locked my PS4 in April before even playing it when I inverted the Y-axis. Not confidence inspiring...

Re: Ubisoft Claims It Won't Abandon PS4 Version of Far Cry 6
Good news for those on last gen! I just hope they can optimize it so it runs well on whatever platform players are using.
For those on current gen, is like to see an option for performance. It's hard for me to be very excited about ray tracing over better frame rate.
Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero
Aloy looks like Aloy. They altered the lines from her cheeks to chin but otherwise did a great job. She looks like she lives in a fallen world.

Re: Far Cry 6 Gameplay Looks Wild and Chaotic, Out This October
If it's 60 fps on PS5, I'm in. If not, then why did I bother with a PS5?
