Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Moves 3.5 Million Copies in Three Days, Is One of PS4's Fastest Selling Exclusives

@kiki3400 they did in pretty much all the old games, there was always something blocking your way be it a mountain range, the sea or even a broken bridge you could never fully explore the world until you got the airship (unless it was like in FFIV for example where you had multiple airships, some that could go over mountains and some that can't)

lets look at the OG FFVII once you left Midgar there was only one place you could go, Kalm then it was to the Chocobo Farm, etc etc

i would say that (not counting XI and XIV as they are MMO's) the first proper open world mainline FF game was XV

linear games seem to get a bad rep these days but some of the best games of this and previous gens have been linear take the last God of War for example where as open world games have become cookie cutter, copy and paste jobs, you only have to look at a lot of Ubisofts output to see that

big open worlds don't mean it's going to be a brilliant game, sometimes a more structured style is the perfect way to do it

@GoblinKing86 so it's not a full game because the story takes place over multiple releases?

I guess the original Mass Effect isn't a full game either then, or God of War or Batman Arkham Asylum or heck even FFXIII

No of course they are an so is this, the game has a beginning and an end so leave off with this we aint gamers and anti consumer nonsense you spout on every FFVII Remake article because quite frankly we are all sick of your bull

If a 30 to 40 hour gaming experience isn't a "full game" then nothing is

@ShogunRok well i guess we will have to wait and see and while the original isn't as open as people think, (you are stilled funneled down a pretty linear path for most of the game, it just LOOKS big and open) the originals world map does lead to many possibilities for the remake

i guess it all depends on what Square can do in the time they have, i imagine they wont want to make people wait too long although rumour is that they have already started some voice work on it

of course COVID-19 could delay it a bit

@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah same for me, i think it has to be a normal kind of fight

i found fighting Fat Chocobo was the best opportunity to get it, build up Tifa's Triangle attack with Unbridled Strength and then wail on it with them once i have staggered it

also you gonna want your team to have crappy weapons equipped otherwise they might beat FC before you can get it over 300%

@ShogunRok yeah potion spamming got me through the Adamantoise fight if i'm honest, still at least i did it before people cried it was too difficult and so Square put in the ability for the Ring to take it out

but it's not just in terms of battle mechanics the way the game flows and stuff feels similar too

take a look

Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Final Trailer Is a Spoiler-Ridden Disgrace

FullbringIchigo

@ShogunRok oh i get that and sorry but when it come to writing things i'm not great at putting my thoughts into words i either tend to ramble and make no sense or not write enough and make no sense

but back to it and can't the same thing be said with any trailer for anything or a write up or even a poster, i order to sell your product you have to advertise, in order to advertise your product you have to show it off and by showing it off you have to spoil something right?

Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Final Trailer Is a Spoiler-Ridden Disgrace

FullbringIchigo

@ShogunRok that's not what i meant, it's like every time Square does something right with a FF game the only things people seem to want to talk about is what things they did wrong, the trailer didn't ruin anything, if it had shown the entire Colosseum segment then yes it would have but again like i said context, i watched the trailer and i never once thought "oh great that just spoiled the entire game for me" all i saw was a trailer showing off the game

now i know someone is going to say "well you a FF fan, you're biased" or something but i'm saying this AS a fan and as someone who has finished the game, the trailer doesn't spoil a thing because there is no context behind what is happening in the trailer by giving the events context, by explaining them is what spoils it

Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Final Trailer Is a Spoiler-Ridden Disgrace

FullbringIchigo

@ShogunRok you know a spoiler warning isn't going to stop anyone reading it (which you only get AFTER you have opened the article), this is the internet

but the thing is the trailer had no context to those scenes or events but your article has given them that context and thus could actually spoil things for people, like i said the only reason we know that is Zack for example is because we have played the game and seen the ending otherwise looking at it blind you would see a person with the Buster Sword wearing purple and most likely assume it was Cloud, we all knew Rufus was going to be in it because the game covers the Midgar section and we know that's when Rufus is introduced, we already knew Sephiroth was going to be here because we had seen it in other trailers and it was in all the marketing materials so it's not a big deal

the Barret thing like i said was confusing but again as i said out of context didn't mean anything, the Hell House was also a enemy from the original FFVII (and also been in other FF games too) so it being in the trailer wasn't an issue, i knew it was going to be in the game because of the trailer but i had no idea how and it was still surprising when it ended up being a boss in the Colosseum

the game is a remake for many people none of this trailer spoiled anything, again it's about context and the trailer had no context about any of these scenes, this article gives them context and that actually spoils these events more than the trailer does

like i said you know by the very nature of people and the internet that this article is going to be read regardless of how many spoiler warnings you put

the trailer wouldn't have made any sense to people who never played FFVII it would have just been all flashy and exciting and to people who did it was full of little moments showing us just how much they have put into this and how big and grand they are trying to make it

i think you're just looking for something negative

Re: Soapbox: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Final Trailer Is a Spoiler-Ridden Disgrace

FullbringIchigo

i swear you're just trying to find things to complain about now, it was a trailer, Rufus showing up wasn't an issue everyone and their mothers knew he would be in the game, same with the Hell House

the Barret thing granted was confusing but out of context didn't mean anything and as for Zack, well the ONLY reason we know it's Zack is because we have played the game otherwise it could just as easily have been Cloud

in fact i would say your article has given more away than the trailer did because you actually spelt out what everything was where as the trailer was vague about everything

Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Sales Off to a Great Start in Japan Despite Coronavirus Situation

FullbringIchigo

@DonJorginho @Matroska you know maybe it just me but that is not how i interpreted it they were fighting against fate itself, fate or the planet was using the whispers and was trying to stop them leaving Midgar (hence why they always showed up to make sure certain things happened) because that wasn't their destiny but instead of accepting that they fought against it and pushed through, every time they beat fate (one of those 3 harbingers) then as Red XIII put it, they got a glimpse of tomorrow which isn't anything new but is in fact what we know as the original outcome, the death of Aerith, Sephiroth summoning meteor etc, etc, those events were never meant to happen but now because they fought fate and won so they could go and beat Sephiroth they have a new destiny which is the events of the original game and i think Aerith might know she is going to die to save the planet now but i don't think the others do, that's why she was so sad

the we wont be the same anymore line doesn't mean they wont become who we know they will it means they WILL become who we know them to be but they were never meant to be that if that makes sense
