Having played the demo for it from last Steam Next Fest- It is a GREAT game. There’s a lot of strategy to how you split your Bast*rds when traversing the map, they do really feel unique, and have pretty fun dialogue between each other. Definitely a game to look forward to.
The demo was available in the last Steam Next Fest- and yeah, it was great. The gameplay is good, but isn’t anything stupendous. You’re playing this for the visuals; which, honestly, are even better in the gameplay than in the trailer. Definitely looking forward to it myself.
Been meaning to get Death’s door for quite a while now, so that great for me. Always nice when PS plush hands out Indie games rather than outdated triple A fare.
Glad to see the Gatling sentry is still there. I have many fond memories of curling up in the fetal position next to one, waiting for the extraction ship (and praying that doesn’t land on my head all the while). The transition to 3D had me a little sceptical at first, but this looks great.
Unless they bring this back with a hell of a lot of promotion to grab people’s interest again, this just seems destined for a quiet death on release. It’s Warner Bros, so they have the money, but whether they can be bothered to spend it is another question.
Honestly, I think it’d be funny if this back and forth went on forever. While this is partly just because I really don’t want Microsoft to buy ABK and know that they’re not going to give up, it is morbidly entertaining to watch two mega corporations squabbling like children. Gives me something to laugh at every now and then.
At this point, I have no faith in bungie to get anything right other than the gunplay- and I doubt most players will get much of a chance to experience if there’s sweaty, roaming multi-player death squads killing all the solo players. Maybe I’m dead wrong. This isn’t my kind of game either way. I just wish bungie made the kind off games they used to: I.e, a real Marathon game.
@NEStalgia The practice may not necessarily be a loss leading one in all cases- but in this one it is. Microsoft is explicitly losing money on game pass- it’s not even particularly close to breaking even (last I checked, at least).
@JohntheRaptor While you are right about the individual difference, that cuts both ways. The employees are not going to see those profits- it’ll all go to their shareholders. Don’t forget 2018- where they reported record profits and laid off 800 employees.
As fond as my memories of Diablo 3 somehow are, I can’t justify spending £70 on it. Couple that with the flaming turd of a company that ActiBlizz are, and I’m just going to wait until I can buy it second hand. Still, looking forward to it when that happens.
Destiny has always struggled to know quite what it is- whether it’s a FPS or an MMO first and foremost, whether it’s about the story or the gear or the combat… and at this point, I don’t think they’ll ever find it. Personally, i’m just content with replaying Destiny 1 and appreciating it for what it was, rather than seeing what kind of reckless experiment they think will turn it into what they want it to be. If Destiny 3 does become real, I just hope they’re reckless enough to make something interesting like they did the first time round.
People keep trying to adapt Foundation, and they really need to stop. It’s an incredible book series, but it just doesn’t lend itself to any other medium- it’s mostly just people talking, after all. It’ll either be utterly unfaithful, just plain bad, or both.
I think the story gets too much flack- it’s meant to be edgy anime fare; and it’s self-aware about it. The entire plot is about assassins wearing devil masks shooting demons in heaven because angels who look like little cats told you to; it’s trying to have a laugh at its own expense, not tell some kind of deep, emotional tale. Obviously it’s not going to appeal to most people, but it’s worth giving it a chance, if you think you might enjoy it.
@Westernwolf4 There’s a post on the Supergiant blog about why they decided to make a sequel- namely, that making one is, in and of itself, a new thing for the studio, and they wanted to give a crack at it.
And looking at some of the screenshots from the gameplay, it does look like there should be plenty of interesting changes.
I doubt they’ll make another sequel, at least not right after this.
@Olmaz I haven’t played Ghostrunner, but I have played Neon White. From what I’ve seen of the former, Neon White is far more about being as fast as you can- and trying to find ways to be faster, more than it is about the sheer challenge. You have three hearts, not one, and levels are generally pretty short anyway, so death is rarely an issue. (Except for Violet’s optional levels…)
@sjbsixpack Writing for games and TV are quite different, even if the games are very cinematic. Not to mention the delicate balance in any adaptation of holding too much sacred so as not to fit the new medium, or making too many changes. Not saying he can’t do it, but a dose of skepticism is still in order.
I’ve played it on PC with a PS4 controller- which already feels great. It’s a real treat. I expect they’ll keep lock-on aiming as the default, though I would recommend turning it off.
@Cycologist From what I’ve read, the focus seems to be pretty heavily on the multiplayer aspect, at least compared to Journey. I could well be wrong- I hope I am. Journey’s co-op was interesting, but the experience just isn’t as emotional when you can’t go at your own pace.

Re: Hammerwatch 2 Could Provide a Pixelated Baldur's Gate Alternative on PS5, PS4
As someone who played the first Hammerwatch game and was thoroughly underwhelmed, I wouldn’t get too hyped for this.

@UltimateOtaku91 welcome to capitalism: attempting to bring back the gilded age monopolies since 1901.

@get2sammyb The dialogue does, at least. I’ve spent ages tapping away at the X button trying to get Paimon to finally shut up.
