@get2sammyb I'm trying this game out right now and I think it's pretty good. Like you, I'm surprised by how polished it is. As a fan of Nintendogs, Vita Pets makes great use out of all of the Vita capabilities. I find it a little confusing at times getting used to all the icons and having the dog speak to you so often, but I've enjoyed it.
Those are good deals on the Vita. I just picked up the Aqua Blue model yesterday and it is really nice. The texture is more of a matte feel than the shiny plastic of the black versions.
That aside, $169 is a great deal - and probably what Vita should be normally priced around at this time anyway - and $5 for Freedom Wars is a tremendous value.
Pacing was awful, so many awkward silences and pauses waiting for applause that never came, and the first half hour was painful. Some good games mixed in there, although its hard to remain excited for games that are still up to and beyond a year away.
I love my Vita and I play it almost every day. But Sony has completely mistreated it. Here in North America, they let stock run out of many stores in the early spring of 2014 where it was nearly impossible to find to buy. Then the launch of the Slim was so quiet and without fanfare that no one even knew it was out. They stopped making quality first party games for it over a year ago. The prices of the memory cards was and are still outrageous. It truly is a shame.
That being said, I still play my Vita every day. There are plenty of outstanding games on it. It just completely sucks that it has a year of decent support before it all went to crap. It has so much untapped potential.
I still enjoy my Vita. There are a handful of great games coming to the system.
But the outrageous cost of the memory cards (which are still obscenely high) really did a lot to sink the system. Plus, there was no marketing for the North American launch of the new Slim model. Just before that in early 2014, Sony let stock of Vita dry up completely in many stores to the point that it was almost impossible to find one to buy.
Awful post-launch marketing and bad business decisions are what helped sink Vita in my mind - even though I still love mine.

Re: Star Wars Battlefront's PS4 Launch Didn't Quite Go to Plan
It always pains me to see hiccups like this on a major game launch.
Re: Review: Call of Duty: Black Ops III (PS4)
@Anchorsam_9 Solid review! How dare Fallout 4 overshadow this fine piece of penmanship! haha
Re: Friends Pull Together to Buy Burgled Buddy a PS4
This video is so great. True friendship is a beautiful thing.
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Gets a Boost as Black Ops 3 Blasts to the Top
Oh, I wish the Vita was half as successful in North America as it is in Japan.
Re: Japanese Sales Charts: PS4 Gets a Boost as Black Ops 3 Blasts to the Top
@sinalefa With good reason. Splatoon is pretty dang fun.
@dodoo That's called the Magic of Microsoft.

Re: Weirdness: After 40 Years, Sony's Finally Killing Off Betamax
I saw a Betamax video cassette in a thrift store a couple years ago and almost bought it out of the novelty of it.
Re: Out This Week: Fallout 4, Superbeat Xonic, Spelunker World
Coming from being almost a strictly Nintendo-only gamer, it is quite refreshing to have consoles in which there are game releases every week.
Phineas and Ferb is such an odd Vita exclusive title, and even moreso that it's not a physical release that would sell well with kids in stores.
Re: Feature: Is Fallout 4 a Broken Mess on PS4?
@shogunrok Great coverage today!
Re: Weirdness: PS4 Perv Slaps the Salami Over System in Store
Hahahahahahahahaha, the title, caption, article.... just hahahahahahahaha!

Re: Looks Like PS4 Will Be Going Below $300 on Black Friday
That's a pretty amazing deal for the PS4, considering it's retail price was a full $100 more than that just a few weeks ago.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 92
I'll be playing Persona 4: Dancing All Night, and Farming Simulator 16 on Vita. Don't judge me.
Re: Review: Superbeat: Xonic (PS Vita)
Exited for this game as well. I love rhythm games and am encouraged by this positive review.
Re: Review: The Jackbox Party Pack 2 (PS4)
I played the first pack at a friend's house and found it to be very funny and very entertaining.
Re: Reaction: Poorly Paced Paris Presser Paves Way for PS4's Impressive 2016
Pacing was awful, so many awkward silences and pauses waiting for applause that never came, and the first half hour was painful. Some good games mixed in there, although its hard to remain excited for games that are still up to and beyond a year away.
Re: Talking Point: Did Sony's Big Paris Games Week Presser Impress You?
That first half hour was atrocious.
Some good games sprinkled in from that point on, but everything is so far off that it is tough to get excited about most of it now.
Re: This Is How Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires Looks Running on PS Vita
Disappointed it's yet another Vita release that is digital only.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 90
All on Vita:
Persona 4: Golden
Virtua Tennis 4
Home: A Unique Horror Adventure
Farming Simulator 16
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 90
@JaxonH Sounds like a frustrating experience. :/
But also it looks like you have a lot of great games lined up to play.

Re: Surprise! Sony Isn't Working on First-Party Titles for PS Vita
@Gamer83 Does Revelations 2 not even run well with the updates? I was planning on getting it this weekend.
Re: Surprise! Sony Isn't Working on First-Party Titles for PS Vita
I love my Vita, still. It's sad Sony gave up on it so quickly.
@shogunrok Great article.
Re: The PlayStation Store Seems to Be Getting a Wishlist
Good. I often wondered why this feature wasn't present long ago.
Re: Store Update: 13th October 2015 (North America)
Picking up Corpse Party at retail, and also downloading Farming Simulator 16!
Re: This Is the Flashiest PS Plus Voucher You'll Ever Buy
That is pretty snazzy. I'd have a hard time passing it up if it came to the States.

I still enjoy my Vita. There are a handful of great games coming to the system.
