@WetWildWendy it's not random. Activision have patched in microtransactions previously after reviews have gone up, so as to ensure their games are reviewed better than the crap they can become. Call of duty is not a franchise I have interest in really, but patching the game later to add mechanics to ensure you pay extra are shady. It's not just Activision, Fallout 76 is the same, and Ubisoft are guilty of it recently too. Wait and see if they change the game to extract more money out of people in a few weeks after all the reviews hit. I don't need to research Call of Duty specifically to know Activision have done it.
@get2sammyb ah ok, well yes that makes sense then. Being properly distinguished would certainly alleviate things I'm sure. I know some games require long reviews due to their nature. I have reviewed Vita games in the past, and the flipside is some games it is difficult to write long reviews on.
I must admit, I'd be happy for the PS4 to have a few more years of life, but provided I can afford it, I'll be upgrading day one. The SSD does concern me though. It sounds amazing, but storage wise, anything less than 1TB would be too small and anything more would probably be too costly. I would love to dream that a 2TB will be inside, but I find it very unlikely. The issue could be mitigated somewhat if there is a way to use an external hard drive, but I don't see how this would be possible as the read and write speeds would not be fast enough via USB.
Even if you only kept the single player portion of the game for example, this could still easily be 75GB for example per game, and this would still only be 13 games on a terabyte. The one thing we all have to bank on however is that Sony are masters at balancing cost vs. the best possible parts. It will be fascinating to see the balance in the final reveal.
@GodGamer not sure what you're talking about. If Sony didn't push services they wouldn't be successful. Microsoft may have been lacking on exclusives, but it doesn't mean Gamepass isn't a good value service. Why shouldn't Sony push for more people to subscribe to their product? They are in the business for the money, and the more people who subscribe, the more money they have to spend on their ecosystem.
About time! Hopefully this will give a subscriber boost that then in turn will encourage Sony to start pushing harder with the service. It's literally the one thing I always thought Microsoft had the edge on (price and title selection).
The Last of Us Remastered makes my base PS4 sound like it's going to take off, compared to most games. That and God of War. It really is worth opening up for the odd clean. Mine was done by a third party actually as at the time I had controller connection issues.
Untitled Goose Game on Switch. Also trying to get into Breath of the Wild for the third time. Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 (bought GT Sport in a sale and it made me want a proper career). Got lots lined up on the PS4 to get round to though.
I love Insomniac and always have. They are such talented developers. I would love another Resistance or Ratchet and Clank, but I'm sure Spiderman 2 will be next. It's agonising waiting for their games, but worth it in the end. I must admit though, I haven't played Spiderman yet, though I've heard amazing things, and what a current sales number.
@Quintumply I'll have to have a go of dirt 4. I think I tend to prefer simcade, though something makes me want to stick at Dirt Rally when I try again!
@Quintumply I tried Dirt Rally in VR and I sucked really badly. I bought Dirt 4 in a sale but I must admit I've not tried it yet. It has two handling models doesn't it?
Edit: Very short review by the way. More of a summary. It's a shame the review doesn't mention how it differs/improves on WRC 7, as I own 5, 6 and 7.
@Alpine021 as @LN78 said, having the camera above you helps. Distance from the camera also makes a huge difference - I've found with Beat Saber being further away from the camera helps.
My notification sound is "RESIDENT EVIL!" yet I'm ashamed to say I have only ever completed the Director's Cut and 2 (yet I've played all the others, bar RE2 Remake which I own, RE6 and RE Revelations 2 which I own). I need to find the time to get on it. I hope RE 8 is third person, though I found what I played of 7 in VR amazing.
I've always been a fan of Harmonix, way back to Frequency, and I've had my eye on this for a while. Given my go-to game for PSVR and exercise is Beat Saber, I'm gonna be all over this.
At this point I'm waiting to see if a complete addition is released further down the line. Knowing how much Activision likes bleeding blood out of stones, I'd say it's pretty likely.
@carlos82 was going to ask the same. I'm not sure what IP's Activision own, but I'm sure beyond Crash and Spyro there aren't that many. I'd love to see a new game in both series, but without Naughty Dog doing them I'm afraid I would be shocked if they are anything more the mediocre.
I bought NFS Rivals and Need For Speed for less than a tenner each in sales. To be honest that's what I will probably do with this one.
@Stoffinator absolutely right. They have ruined the franchise, hence why I picked the games up cheap. OK for a mindless go when I'm wanting a shallow game that I don't have to engage in too much but that's about it.
@NoCode23 I know lots of people are talking about 60fps, but honestly unless devs are forced I fear we will still be looking at 30fps moving forward. I can accept a rock solid 30fps but unfortunately this rarely happens and with uneven frame pacing and dips it is so noticeable. But I think devs are still going to be pushing 30fps and going for realism over 60fps and a drop in fidelity.
@Wazeddie22 HCT got such a bad rap from people but it's such a good game! Really enjoying it too and likewise see myself getting the platinum eventually.
As someone who doesn't get the chance to watch any anime really, are the games fully fleshed out enough to grab the story or do you need to know the programme? Just wondering as I enjoy musou games.
@Wormold hey thanks for that! Hadn't heard of that one. Was skint for quite some time so was out of the loop when it comes to PSVR games. I'll look into it.
I hadn't heard of this one. I'm using Beat Saber to lose weight at the moment so I'm really digging my PSVR. I've been really wanting a game with wordplay so this sounds like exactly the thing jm looking for.
@SegaBlueSky yeah I agree. It's a busy time of year and seems to be happening more often now. I know GRID isn't 100% arcade but given a lot of the more arcade type racers aren't doing so well anymore, I can see why they are concerned (though they hopefully shouldn't be).
I know they are always fantastic quality games, but I do wish Polyphony was capable of working a little faster. I'd be surprised if they managed to get a GT ready for near launch, though its conceivable given the future proofed nature if they are focusing on environments and car numbers now more than the insane car detail.
@badbob001 agreed. I think the way these remastered have sold makes sense. To the people saying Insomniac - it wasn't too long ago they were interviewed and said they really value their independence.
@Gmork___ ah ok. Still worth a play though? I have a rather obscenely huge backlog so when someone recommends a title I put that to the front of the list. Like yesterday for example someone highly recommended Limbo and Inside, so I'm gonna have a go at them.
@Gmork___ Loved A Dog's Life. Is Tokyo Jungle that good? I have it on PS3 but never played it!
About Away, I'm really interested and thought it looked great on State Of Play. There are some hanky animations in that trailer though, but it's still in development so there's still time.
@ShogunRok agreed. I'm amazed Microsoft didn't manage to get many juices flowing, but the reality is I guess it's just to early for the majority of their acquisitions to have anything to show. I must say I was surprised that after MS saying they are going to invest in single player too that Ninja Theory comes out with a multiplayer title, but I know it has been in development since before the acquisition; it's just kind of ironic. Sony really is the one to beat. They learned hard lessons in the PS3 era that they got too cocky after the success of the PS2, and it's paying dividends now. The irony is some of what Sony is doing is what gave MS the momentum last generation! Getting timed exclusive third party DLC and the like. I have always been in the Sony camp, though I had an OG Xbox and will pick up a 360 at some point and maybe a One later down the line, but I say good luck to MS. Competition is always a good thing in this industry as it leads to better consoles, better games.....well better everything.
@ShogunRok oh absolutely, clarification would be nice. I guess Squeenix just felt it isn't necessary or something. I for one would be frankly amazed if they suddenly unveiled that the whole game is coming, and they would undoubtedly steal E3 for most, but I'm afraid to say I'm 99% certain it isn't happening.

Re: Site News: Where's Our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Review?
@Octane nope.
Also, please update the review if they patch the microtransactions at a later date to make it pay to win/shady like they have done before.
Edit: updated for clarification.

Re: Megaquarium - Nothing Fishy About This Brilliant Maritime Attraction Builder
As a freshwater tropical aquarium owner, I've had my eye on this for a while. This feels more like a summary than a review however.
Re: Guide: Best Free Games on PS4
@Vorlon Gems of War is AMAZING! I'm about 170 hours in on Switch, having only discovered it fairly recently. It's hooked me in!

Re: Random: Days Gone's Trophies Are Scripted to Capture Important Story Moments
Nice to see neat little touches like this. Really shows the devs thought of pretty much everything. I haven't bought the game yet but it's on my list.
Re: Monster Hunter: World Smashes Through 14 Million Copies Sold
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy same here. I'm sure the game is great, but I'm worried for such a huge time sink when I have a huge backlog.

Still bot managed to play this. Somehow missed out on the demo when it was out. Don't really know what I'm missing out on.

Re: Hands On: Concrete Genie's Colourful PSVR Experience Could Cure Sadness
@madcow78 you would need at least 60fps though so the breakout box could double it to 120fps and those are 30fps games though so it wouldn't work.
