Isn't "Next generation" now an obsolete term? The new generation has already started

I can think of several reasons that the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One...and this ain't one of them

Um, video games were already popular by the time Playstation came out...I believe Nintendo should be the one who gets credit for bringing games back to the mainstream

@Cloud7794 I don't think so either. From a business standpoint, a price drop won't change anything. The demand for Playstation 4 still seems to be relatively high, so dropping the price won't really have a purpose. Also, I think $399 is generous for the tech already, so Sony would just lose money from a price drop

@Demi_God The main problem is that Playstation is their only competitive division, at least in my opinion. VAIO, TVs, etc. really are not competitive because other companies are pricing lower, and Sony's products really don't do much that's worth the higher price

I don't know if we can even use the size of Sony in this argument. The problem is most of their branches are bleeding and are not very competitive in the markets.

Keep in mind that the Dreamcast was doing very well while Sega was posting losses. Even if one branch is doing well, the whole company could bring it down with them. Hopefully this won't be the case in a few years

Specs alone mean nothing unless software takes advantage of them. I regard gameplay experiences above raw power. Even the Wii U is capable of providing such experiences

@JaxonH And it only outsold the 3DS because the 3DS's numbers went down in Japan.

@ZeD The Vita is comparable to Wii U. Both have games that are worth playing to a decent sized crowd, however neither resonates with the majority of the market.

@rjejr Last I checked, most Nintendo games on the Wii U have sold at least 1-2 million copies, which is a milestone considering the small install base and the fact that some companies WISH they had those numbers on any system these days

I find it odd that there's no 3DS release considering that system is so huge in Japan

I never cared for realism for the sake of realism. And graphics displays like this never really impress me that often.

@rjejr Honestly I find it surprising that the PS4 is doing so well, considering that the Vita and PS3 nearly flopped after launch and Sony's other subsidiaries aren't doing as well. I confess that I thought the PS4 was going to flop as well despite the hype

@rjejr Despite the PS4's success, Sony as a whole is in a downward spiral. Maybe that's what he is referring to

I don't think it's our business to know why someone was dismissed. Tabloids and the like seem to have affected people's perception of others' privacy.

Unfortunately the trend is going downward for the industry as of late. From 2008 to 2013, software sales are down by almost 50% (from Pachter). Maybe this generation can turn things around?

Reminds me of No More Heroes for the Wii/PS3. The North American Wii version was the only uncensored version

I think the point is that they're charging the same or more for an inferior version rather than lowering the price.

I don't really follow Sony that often...but it seems to me that they're trying to make the Vita fail. Correct me if I'm wrong though

Sad thing is I see fewer ads for Vita anywhere than I do for the Wii U

I hear this all the time from developers and games rarely come out after the fact

Conversely, those gamers will think Nintendo would do it again. "Why buy this console when Nintendo will just release more games on my console later after the Wii U fails?"

@BornOfEvil That's not true at all. Keep in mind we only hear about the big attacks and data like this supports the fact that hackers are always active.

I think trophies are overrated. While they are good for those extra tough challenges, some to many gamers abuse the system just for a big number...

I remember seeing lines at my local Gamestop for both the Xbox One and PS4. I'm not sure why they were there considering there were only like 10-15 people in line...

I can say that the Xbox would explode from the lack of defense against a behemoth like that

Maybe Nintendo and Sony need to team up. Sony can make consoles and Nintendo can make handhelds
