Um, video games were already popular by the time Playstation came out...I believe Nintendo should be the one who gets credit for bringing games back to the mainstream
@Cloud7794 I don't think so either. From a business standpoint, a price drop won't change anything. The demand for Playstation 4 still seems to be relatively high, so dropping the price won't really have a purpose. Also, I think $399 is generous for the tech already, so Sony would just lose money from a price drop
@Demi_God The main problem is that Playstation is their only competitive division, at least in my opinion. VAIO, TVs, etc. really are not competitive because other companies are pricing lower, and Sony's products really don't do much that's worth the higher price
I don't know if we can even use the size of Sony in this argument. The problem is most of their branches are bleeding and are not very competitive in the markets.
Keep in mind that the Dreamcast was doing very well while Sega was posting losses. Even if one branch is doing well, the whole company could bring it down with them. Hopefully this won't be the case in a few years
Specs alone mean nothing unless software takes advantage of them. I regard gameplay experiences above raw power. Even the Wii U is capable of providing such experiences
@JaxonH And it only outsold the 3DS because the 3DS's numbers went down in Japan.
@ZeD The Vita is comparable to Wii U. Both have games that are worth playing to a decent sized crowd, however neither resonates with the majority of the market.
@rjejr Last I checked, most Nintendo games on the Wii U have sold at least 1-2 million copies, which is a milestone considering the small install base and the fact that some companies WISH they had those numbers on any system these days
@rjejr Honestly I find it surprising that the PS4 is doing so well, considering that the Vita and PS3 nearly flopped after launch and Sony's other subsidiaries aren't doing as well. I confess that I thought the PS4 was going to flop as well despite the hype
Unfortunately the trend is going downward for the industry as of late. From 2008 to 2013, software sales are down by almost 50% (from Pachter). Maybe this generation can turn things around?
Conversely, those gamers will think Nintendo would do it again. "Why buy this console when Nintendo will just release more games on my console later after the Wii U fails?"
@BornOfEvil That's not true at all. Keep in mind we only hear about the big attacks and data like this supports the fact that hackers are always active.
I remember seeing lines at my local Gamestop for both the Xbox One and PS4. I'm not sure why they were there considering there were only like 10-15 people in line...

Re: Sony Would Like to Remind You That There's More to PS4 Than Indie Games
Isn't "Next generation" now an obsolete term? The new generation has already started
Re: Minecraft: PS4 Edition Will Let You See Much More Than PS3
4k pixels. Truly the next step in video game innovation
Re: Microsoft: PS4 Is Outperforming Xbox One Because PS3 Didn't Satisfy Consumers
I can think of several reasons that the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One...and this ain't one of them

Sometimes I wonder about the human species in general. I would say just Japan...but I'm sure there are perverts around the world

Re: Japan Keeps on Giving as Tales of Hearts R is Confirmed for a Western Vita Release
I find it odd that there's no 3DS release considering that system is so huge in Japan
Re: Crikey, PS4 Sales Have Now Surpassed 7 Million Units Worldwide
@rjejr What do you mean "too late"?
Re: This Is How Beyond: Two Souls' Ellen Page Would Look on PS4
I never cared for realism for the sake of realism. And graphics displays like this never really impress me that often.
Re: Sony's Shuhei Yoshida Has Been Banned from Nintendo MiiVerse Twice
@kensredemption I'm sure someone else wrote "I love PS" on Miiverse and Yoshida just took credit for it

Can't wait for Ultimate Ultra Street Fighter 4 Arcade Special Edition

@JaxonH It is. It's also for all 3 systems (Xone, PS4 and Wii U)

Re: Super Smash Bros. Director Stunned by PS4's Visual Prowess
Today's console wars are so lame compared to the Nintendo Sega rivalry. That one was much more fun

Re: SCEA President Jack Tretton Won't Be Dropping the Mic At Any More Sony Pressers
@rjejr Despite the PS4's success, Sony as a whole is in a downward spiral. Maybe that's what he is referring to
Re: Naughty Dog Barks a Statement on Hennig Dismissal
I don't think it's our business to know why someone was dismissed. Tabloids and the like seem to have affected people's perception of others' privacy.
Re: SCEA President Jack Tretton Won't Be Dropping the Mic At Any More Sony Pressers
@adf86 To clarify, he was with Sony for 19 years but was president of SCEA for 4 years (since 2010)

What is with XSeed's obsession with risky titles lately?

Re: Sorry Europe, You Won't Be Probing Any Bottoms in South Park: The Stick of Truth

Re: There Are More Developers Working on PS4 Than Any Other Console
@divinelite Probably because that comparison doesn't really mean much
Re: Flappy Bird Flies Another Day in LittleBigPlanet PS Vita
First Nintendo (through "Petit Computer") and now this. Why is this so popular?

Re: Virtue's Last Reward Sequel Sunk by Japanese Investors
@Knux Considering it bombed in Japan, that's probably not going to happen.
Kickstarter/crowd-funding may be the best option
Re: Final Fantasy XV on PS4 Still Looks Absolutely Sensational
Not interested. FFXIII looked great but was trash to me.
Re: Court's in Session for Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc's Latest Trailer
@Shellybird27 Same developer, so that makes sense
Re: Microsoft Will Pay You to Dump Your PS3 for an Xbox One
That second image is a great rebuttal
Re: Feature: Three Reasons Why You Should Skip the PS Vita Slim and Snag the Original
I think the point is that they're charging the same or more for an inferior version rather than lowering the price.
Re: PlayStation Vita Slim Weighs Down UK Retail from 7th February
I don't really follow Sony that often...but it seems to me that they're trying to make the Vita fail. Correct me if I'm wrong though
@rjejr: That is quite the wishful thinking. I don't think Sony understands why the Vita is not doing great
Re: Rumour: PS Vita Slim Will Not Shrink the System's Price by Much
Sad thing is I see fewer ads for Vita anywhere than I do for the Wii U
Re: Want a Final Fantasy X-3? You Should Probably Pipe Up
I hear this all the time from developers and games rarely come out after the fact

Re: Pinky Promise You'll Pick Up Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for PS3
That would require me to get a PSP. No thank you (which brings me to my next pet peeve with the series: platform exclusivity)
Re: Pinky Promise You'll Pick Up Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX for PS3
Nope. Dream Drop Distance ruined it for me. I'm fed up with Sora's freaking story.
Re: Talking Point: Should Sony Mirror Steam's Discount Strategy for PSN?
And sell games for next to nothing? How the heck does one profit from that model?
Re: PlayStation Executive Shuhei Yoshida Is Doing His Part to Help Wii U
@jgrangervikings Wut? Your logic makes no sense. Why would you claim your games are on one system after releasing one on another console?
Anywho, this should be a sign. Buy a Wii U today because even Sony's bossman likes it!!!

Re: You Don't Have As Many PSN Trophies As This Guy
I think trophies are overrated. While they are good for those extra tough challenges, some to many gamers abuse the system just for a big number...

Re: November NPD: PS4 Draws First Blood in North American Console War
I can say that the Xbox would explode from the lack of defense against a behemoth like that
Re: November NPD: PS4 Draws First Blood in North American Console War
Maybe Nintendo and Sony need to team up. Sony can make consoles and Nintendo can make handhelds
