@Titntin memory doesn't store anything while it is not in use. If the OS was stored in the memory the minute you turned the power off it would vanish from your console.
The suspicion is that the new slower ddr 5 memory is allocated to run the os so the full 16gb ddr 6 is available for running games but this is not the same as storing the OS.
It would be interesting to see if they have just made the os smaller or compressed it better to allow for more of the ssd to be used. A new clean PS5 with the latest OS would tell us.
For me it was a simple equation. I had the money I wanted to have the best experience.
I love the visual fidelity of the base PS5 but have become accustomed to playing games at 60fps. If we get the best of both and possibly a bit more as the cherry on top I'm happy.
As for any comparison to PC, I explored my options there and ultimately came back to the same conclusion, that for now I just want to play games on console and the Pro is the best place to do that.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy I will be perfectly happy. It is no harder than looking around different web sites to buy physical games... I literally need 2 web pages and I already showed I can beat your prices.
@LogicStrikesAgain I was lucky enough to try a HTC Vive years ago when they were £1200 and just that demo was enough for me to know it was utterly game changing.
I resisted buying in until recently though because I felt the software and hardware needed more time to mature but now I absolutely love it and they are the best gaming experiences I have had in years.
Resident Evil 4 is just incredible and Pistol Whip is the perfect action hero fantasy simulator. Also walk about golf is a good chill time too....
This is one of the first games I have lined up for my Pro.
I didn't play a tonne of it before but was enjoying what I did play before I got distracted by some other shiny bauble, so looking forward to giving it another go!
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy yes I'm saying to use the system that's out there. And you can use another site like Deku deals to see a game's price history, how often it goes on sale and what its lowest price has been - no hoping about it. And physical isn't cheaper any time with digital often being cheaper down the line.
We can go into the whole ownership argument if you want, but nothing about a day 1 disc screams ownership to me. The only thing you gain is, as you say the ability to sell it on if you wish.
I'm not defending anyone, so just calm down. I was just stating my view that your ebay prices vs psn worst case prices is hardly fair.
I could use an indie digital and compare it to an out of print limited run game and that would be just as unfair a comparison.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy cherry picking prices on eBay versus the worst case scenario on ps store is more than a little disingenuous if you ask me.
With a little patience and a bit of savvy it is easy to get great deals on games on PSN.
Ghost of Tsushima for example is regularly as low as £35 and if you buy credit from someone like cd keys you will get up to another 12% off that bringing your total to around £30.79.
I think there are advantages to both and choice is good but the price issue is only really against digital if you must have a game in the launch window.
@GamingFan4Lyf weirdly, despite the name this isn't super sampling.
This takes a low resolution and makes the picture appear ti be at a higher resolution.
Super sampling is the opposite, it takes a more detailed picture and scales it down to a lower resolution to give a better image to those people who don't have a UHD tv. This was available on the PS4 pro.

Re: PS5 Pro Actually Gives You Almost All Its 2TB of Storage to use
@cuttlefishjones I expected the PS5 to format the lot too, but according to a Push Square article it can be transferred over.

Nice! I have another 2Tb to drop in day one too, plus my old reliable 2 Tb sata ssd for backwards compatibility.
Should keep me going for a while.

And you don't troll websites, you trawl them.

@__jamiie capitalism at its finest, price matches demand and supply.

@LogicStrikesAgain welcome to the club!
Re: Metro Awakening (PSVR2) - One of the Most Immersive VR Games Ever
@Korgon mate if PlayStation do the £300 deal again - maybe for black friday just do it.
If you have PS + premium you'd have enough games to keep you ticking over for a while too.
I absolutely love VR, playing pistol whip the last couple of days while also going through the John Wick movies has been such a good few days!
Re: In the UK, You Can't Buy a PS5 Pro Disc Drive without Paying a Premium
@Zemo55 I'm just on the edge of North West London, absolutely nothing down here at all.
Hasn't been for about a month now.
I'm not worried, it is about time I switch to digital anyway, much more aligned with my values of owning less stuff and looking after the planet.
Re: Xbox Appears to Be Readying More Releases for PS5
With every PS5 release it feels like we are closer and closer to the end of Xbox as a traditional platform.
I wonder if Steam might try and jump in that space again or if we might see a Google console in the future
Re: In the UK, You Can't Buy a PS5 Pro Disc Drive without Paying a Premium
@Zemo55 I think that might depend on what part of the country you are in.
Totally sold out for delivery to me.
