Re: Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.06 Available Now, Here Are the Patch Notes

@PenguinL I think it’s fine to play it right now but if you can’t hold it never hurts to further wait, you will get an even more polished game then.
I took a break now as well from Horizon and played Cyberpunk during the last evenings.
The fix for the popups in the insanely beautiful cutscenes is one of the most important fixes for me. Hope they can improve the shimmering a bit as well.
Nevertheless an outstanding and beautiful game.

@MarkMarky it’s far away from being crap.
You can always concern about bugs and additional patches, but then feel free to name one single larger (open world) game from the last years without flaws in the first months.
Nobody threats you to play or purchase the game, not day-1 neither later. You only push yourself to do so, to be on the hype train on social media. But then don’t be concerned about any bugs or patches.
When you concern so heavily about single bugs then you don’t have any clue about the complexity of game development.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Shimmering Bug Solved

Reeneman

@LowTech I think it’s something in between. I fully agree that especially a first party exclusive game shouldn’t ship (or after the day1 patch) with such issues. Can’t agree more.
But otherwise as always these days, things are heating up so much in social media. To say that the game is ugly or unplayable because of these issues is too much in my honest opinion.
I played around 6 hrs so far end highly enjoyed the prologue part. Graphics looked very well (LG Oled E9 55“) - yes the shimmering stresses my eyes too, but like I said it’s not unplayable.
I’m very sure we will see a new patch this week and I’m thrilled to see how they can improve the visual quality.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West Is Getting Review Bombed on PS5, PS4 for No Reason

@themightyant I have sometimes the feeling that some people are judging the games without any of the patches. Not sure why and what’s happening with their system. No internet connection activated on their PlayStation? Issues with the update system?
Hard to imagine but when you read some of those issues that they are experiencing, it seems like that.

@RevGaming as always with these big games,we will see a lot of patches coming over the next weeks. Probably one or two months more of polish should have threaded the game well but with GT7 upcoming Sony most likely wanted tos tick to their release schedule.
Overall there are no huge bugs in the game. The shimmering disturbs the image a bit but even this should be improved during the next weeks.

Re: Hands On: Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 Version Actually Feels Like a Finished Game

@Porco can’t see why a Singleplayer game can be dead if you are interested to play it.
I was heavily disappointed with the release. I had crash after crash on the Ps5 and stopped playing after the first 3 days. Now after 1 year I have a usage for the game disc again.
The new version is pretty solid. Like I said, I don’t know how it can be dead. The hype around the game is mostly over, but I play games that I like, nevertheless how the hype is.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

@PlayStationGamer3919 this won’t be possible. Then you have to wait for a Ps5 Pro or even a Ps6.
Don’t get me wrong, I love good graphics but to stick so much on these numbers are always a bit unnecessary. You will have a fantastic gaming experience with the 60 Fps mode on the Ps5, small downgrades in resolution won’t be visible on a regular sized tv.
If you have an 77 inch 4K tv or a very high class projector this might be a different story, but on a 55 or 65 inch tv the difference won’t be huge, especially with standard viewing distance to the tv.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

Reeneman

@Roqka I mostly try out the resolution modes for fun… always with the same result. Slightly sharper but the game itself just feels better in motion and response with 60 fps. Especially the benefit in sharpness are gone while playing because of the low framerate and strange motion while moving the camera.
Small downgrades in details are mostly not visible during regular gameplay.
Tested it out so far on Ps5 with Miles Morales, Rift Apart, Uncharted, Guardians, Maneater, … always with the same result for me personally.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

Reeneman

@Juanalf you can not have it all. You have a performance budget and the devs trying to utilise it in the best way they can.
Sure the game was hold back slightly due to its cross gen development, but nevertheless a 60 fps mode especially in such a detailed and large open world game will always come with some loose in details and quality.
I think they made a great job here and the best what you can do is: Try it at home at your setup and decide which mode you prefer. There is no tech Analyse video that can make this decision for you.

Re: Horizon Forbidden West PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Analysed by Digital Foundry

Reeneman

@zebric21 ah no. You probably mix up refresh rate (hz) of a tv with the framerate from the game itself.
The tv is running with 60 hz (sometimes 120 hz if supported by the tv, console and game) but the framerate of the game itself is something different. The tv can not boost the framerate.
You could activate some motion smoothness in the tv settings what makes the 30 fps feels a bit smoother, but it will increase the input lag.
