Re: Horizon Forbidden West (PS5) - Aloy Returns in Superior PS5 Sequel

@gamer_since_83 What did you think of Deathloop? My PS5 has been out for repair since early Feb (arriving tomorrow, allegedly) and it was the last game I played. Killed 2 of the people with powers (forget their name) and have invisibility and the jump forward in space abilities. Game hasn't really grabbed me yet and I'm not sure why. HFW arrives end of next week ( I waited until mid-week on Amazon to pre-order and now it's back-ordered) and I think I might just dive into that...

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy a PS5 Remake of The Last of Us?

Maybe! I just finished the remastered version in March since PS5 is my first PS system in 20 years and wanted to catch up on the classics and was very impressed with the story and gameplay.

If they update it enough with more than just an even shinier coat of paint, I'd revisit it again. Stoked for TLOU2 and picked it up for 50% off.

Re: Poll: Do You Have a PS5?

I managed to get one around the second week of December (I think, whole thing is a blur) on the last day that the website Brickseek could reliably be used to see stock at local Wal-Marts here in the US. What a debacle the whole thing was. Wal-Marts across the country were breaking company policy of being 'online only' and hundreds were lining up before they'd open. I'd go to a store and there'd be signs everywhere that it wasn't sold in-store. Hours later, someone would post pics of crowds on twitter and people walking out with PS5s from the very store I was just at. I checked Brickseek mid-day on a Sunday and just said screw it and drove 30 min. Was second in line and we were told they had none. The guy in front of me pulled out the brickseek page he had printed and had the electronics worker scan the barcode and then asked to speak to the manager. We were told they were on a truck and that it would be hours before they were unloaded. We said we'd wait. A few minutes later the line was across the store, all from people watching the stock online. 90 minutes later I was walking out with it. The next day, Wal-Mart was no longer showing their stock of PS5 on Brickseek. There's no way I'd have one otherwise. I struck out on so many PS Direct drops and various other drops and lost a lot of sleep in that time.

Edit - And was it worth it? 100% I hadn't played a game on Playstation since the PS2 days and immediatly sunk hours into so many great titles I'd missed out on!

30+ hours in and never saw one, partner is 90 hours in and she hasn't either. We've both stopped playing with intention of coming back and the latest update sounds great (excited to no longer start every load as Drunk Eivor) but now I feel like waiting until the NEXT one would be an even better idea. Shame, really. But I'm enjoying the other games I've had a chance to catch up on.

Re: Hitman 3 PS5 Marginally Outperformed by Xbox Series X

@JapaneseSonic

Perhaps it's just us longing for how it felt playing a game on SNES (I was 10 when it was released in North America) and no matter how technologically advanced a game is now, It's going to be hard (if not impossible) for it to ever hit the same as something far less basic did when I was in 5th grade. That being said, I was all smiles when I played Astro's Playroom and Spider-Man Remastered for the first time last month and DID feel a bit like a kid again.

Hey! so I just registered after being a lurker here for a while. Finally got a PS5 after missing PS3 and PS4 generations. Have to say, now that I own the XSX and PS5, it comes down to how much can I save, will it be on Game Pass, etc. Because these performance issues are going to be so marginal either way and are done mostly just for clicks and to stoke the never-ending console wars. And when I was only on Xbox consoles for years - just knowing how my brain works - as long as the game plays well and isn't broken, I was never going to lament playing a multiplatform game on my One X for example that ran at a lower resolution or had a few less frames than on a PS4 Pro. Because I'd never see the 'better' version and would have no reference to compare it to.
