Re: Review: The Last Guardian (PS4)

TreesenHauser

@get2sammyb Great review! It perfectly captures how I feel regarding the experience. I have yet to finish it--perhaps today I will--but so far I'm loving it.

And for those asking, I'm playing it on a Slim PS4. Sure, a slowed frame rate happens especially when there's a LOT going on, but for the most part it looks and plays just fine. I imagine it's enjoyable no matter which iteration of the PS4 you're playing on.

Re: Talking Point: What September PlayStation Plus Games Do You Want?

TreesenHauser

@Kidfried Finally seeing a release date for The Last Guardian forced my hand. I was in literal happy tears when I saw the date. To start, I want (need!) The BioShock collection. I'd also love to get Doom, Fallout 4 and No Man's Sky. For all the disappointment I'm hearing about the game, I still have hope that I'll enjoy it. Add in the incoming Resident Evil 7 and the new God of War, among other amazing-looking games and I have no reason to not get one!

And, I may double dip on Shovel Knight because even though I already own it on Wii U, Shovel Knight rules!

Re: Star Wars: Battlefront Force Chokes Single Player Campaign

TreesenHauser

@Johnnycide put my feelings about this perfectly. Single-player campaigns are great because they allow players to get a firm grasp on how to play the game without dying multiple times or being screamed at by some teenager. Without any of that, I don't like the idea of this game anymore. SP could have been so perfect in this game. Oh well, I guess I'll give the game a try when one of my buddies gets it.

Re: DLC Review: Diving into BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea - Episode One

TreesenHauser

Owning a Season Pass, I can safely say this DLC makes a strong case for players to get one for themselves if they haven't yet. Assuming Episode Two is $15 as well, the total for all the DLC released by themselves is $35. The Season Pass is only $20, which is like getting Episode Two for free, along with other in-game perks for Infinite.

With that being said, despite its short length I fully enjoyed it. I've been a Bioshock fan for years now, and this return to Rapture after tear-ing away through Columbia was a blast. I can't wait for Episode Two now.

Re: Talking Point: Is Grand Theft Auto V Living Up to Your Expectations?

TreesenHauser

@get2sammyb One thing that I didn't like about GTA IV was the driving. It always felt sluggish, sorta like you were driving a boat around. GTA V's driving is significantly improved. And I'd also have to say I like the overall atmosphere better and yes, Los Santos, in GTA V. From the little bit of it I played I was blown away. It feels all-new yet seems familiar to me, if that makes sense.

Re: Opinion: Microsoft's Always-Online Debacle Is Playing into the PS4's Hands

TreesenHauser

I wasn't feeling very interested in the next Xbox anyways, but this thread of arrogance from Orth has further cemented that I definitely won't be supporting Microsoft's next console. Period.

As far as the PS4 goes... as much as I'd love to get one, I'll most likely pass on it for now. The hardware has me thinking I could get a PC rig that's just as good. It would have to take quite a few amazing-looking games or exclusives to make me consider it.

Re: Your PlayStation Network Games Won't Work on PlayStation 4

TreesenHauser

It's not a big deal, I'll just wait to get a PS4 until I've completed all my current PS3 content, which... depending on how long I spend playing each game, could be a while.

But, I can say this: For everyone wondering why people "expect" backwards compatibility, maybe it's because Sony kinda began the trend of backwards compatibility? When the PS2 launched, not only did it offer better-looking games and a DVD player, but it allowed PS1 owners to use their PS1 accessories and games on the new console. When this became known, it became pretty much standard for the console generation to follow. Xbox 360 supported most of the original Xbox's library, PS3 supported PS2 games (at least earlier on) and Wii supported GameCube games and accessories.

So, I can actually understand why everyone expects backwards compatibility, especially from Sony.
