I'm a casual, mostly indie gamer, and there has been nothing yet that has made me feel the need to upgrade, but I agree - if Sony want to push on with this gen then by this point, they should be saying "If you want to play this AAA title you're gonna need a new machine". It doesn't stop smaller developers releasing games on PS4 if there's still a market, as has been the case for the last few gens.

@riceNpea Juve were stripped of titles and relegated for match fixing. They have been docked points this time for similar discrepancies to City - at the discretion of their own domestic association, which is now under review because its seems the panel were clearly baying for blood.

I'm not a City fan so ultimately don't care, but I doubt there is an organisation of that size on the whole planet who isn't hiding money - including the Premier League itself. They could have picked on any club and found something.

@sentiententity Absolutely this. I think we are possibly past the stage of 'gens' being a new era, nes-snes-n64 style. We are in a law of diminishing returns situation and not everyone is a hardcore gamer.

The launch campaigns were terrible, albeit against an unprecedented backdrop. Faster loading times and better lighting effects is absolutely akin the Apple trying to sell me a new phone because it's faster and has a few new camera tricks. Perhaps this IS the future of consoles - a new model every couple of years and you adopt at your leisure.

This gen lacked a genuine USP and a killer app at launch, then faced shortages and now faces a situation where a lot of people have less disposable income. Protecting the PS4 is good brand equity right now.

Microsoft have a better handle on this, with it's two power tiers, non-gen related naming, and a widening acceptance that you don't need an Xbox too play Xbox games. Sony needs a visible two year road map out of PS4 development and then consider how things work going forward.

I took a break from work about an hour ago to have a look, and honestly, I'm impressed.

I'm Premium for the next 10 months and by no needs a hardcore gamer, so I'm probably all set till then.

I've got Premium locked in for the next year and I'm still on a PS4 (play Switch more and haven't felt the need to upgrade yet), so this is cool enough, I just don't see the immediate incentive if you're on a PS5.

Also I was kind of hoping for A LOT more PS1 games
