Booked our tickets for Shang Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings for tomorrow evening... honestly can't wait. It has been nice watching the Disney+ shows and Black Widow (on Disney+ Premium) but a pre cinema restaurant meal followed by the latest Marvel movie at a theatre puts a big smile on my face š.
Very excited to go see Shang Chi and love that Spider-Man is coming out in December, replaces Star Wars as my Christmas time cinema visit!
Really enjoying the What If series as well. Animation can be a bit hit and miss as well as the voice acting, but the stories themselves really make up for it. I haven't read any comics so have absolutely no idea what is going on.
The Doctor Strange episode of what if absolutely broke me, I've never seen the MCU do something so heartbreaking. I won't spoil it but all I can say is, watch it.
I still haven't seen Black Widow. No Disney+ over here unfortunately and the cinemas just aren't very appealing when they require you to wear a mask throughout the movie. I'm not saying they shouldn't - just that I'd rather stay at home if that's the case, and if I'm staying home, I'd rather spend that time playing games
@JohnnyShoulder I thought it was Endgame the last time I went but I actually forgot that I went last January to see Emma a couple weeks before everything started to shut down.
spiderman is the only (marvel) super-hero i've really ever gotten into and thats mostly because of the games , same with batman . coincidentally they're both the top 2 super heroes - i think it'd be cool if batman had a crossover with noir spiderman . spiderman could easily replicate batman in an alternate gritty universe - they have strong similarities . just look at the stealth segments of spiderman and the arkham games.
i get spiderman is not dark though , but in some alternate universes i'd love to see it. noir spiderman was the closest ive seen.
aside from spiderman i'd always been curious about getting into x-men , but i feel i wouldn't be patient and dont have the time .
oh , and i also like ghostrider too . but he doesn't have enough. i actually have a tattoo of his skull on the right side of my left-bicep.
@NedStarksGhost sh** , i forgot about that film for a second ; i seen the trailer for shang-chi and it looked sick . i have no idea who that is , but damn , if they didn't do him justice with that trailer .
So really enjoyed Shang Chiā¦ isnāt quite as good as a lot of the reactions I have seen but is close. If I were to rate it, Iād give it around an 8 out of 10ā¦ maybe an 8.5. Itās certainly one of the stronger origin movies.
It has really put me in the mood for some more wuxia though, so Iām gonna have to try and twist the missusā arm into a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers night over the weekend.
@nessisonett one of the worst MCU movies to be sure. I remember thinking when I was playing God of War 2018 that if Marvel made a Thor movie more like Santa Monicaās opus it would be so much more epic! Itās funny that having watched Shang Chi last night, that they would do just that with their Asian super hero rather than their Norse one.
@RogerRoger Yeah, Ecclestone had pretty much nothing to do in that film which is a real shame. Heās a great actor but nobody could elevate that part beyond the strange rubber mask.
Interestingly, Thor: the Dark World was on TV last night here in the US too (on FX). Didn't watch it all, though.
Anyhow, I'm super excited for Spider-Man: No Way Home in a way I haven't been excited for a superhero film in quite some time. Will definitely get around to watching Black Widow, Shang Chi, & the Eternals as well, though I can wait until they're "free" on Disney+.
Will be interesting to see how the MCU overall holds out post Endgame, though. Not that I'm exactly expecting any of the films to flop mind you, but with many of the original Avengers being retired & it becoming increasingly hard to follow (both for newcomers due to the sheer amount of content, & overall now that you're expected to watch 4 or so miniseries each year in addition to the films), I don't know if the movies will be hitting quite the same highs in terms of viewership.
