Been holding off on FF7R hoping it would end up up here, really hoping it does turn out to be the PS5 version and they don't skimp like they did with Uncharted Lost Legacy.
Might finally get round to trying out AC Black Flag as well 🙌
The only one in that list I’m really gutted about missing is Infamous, would love to replay that again! Weird they don’t have the sequel though.
Would also love to have the MGS series on there since I totally missed those during my childhood! I’m going to just assume that’s down to Konami being Konami though, probably not Sony’s fault this time.
@Scob They absolutely do if they allowed it previously and then removed the option without telling people though, consumer protection laws are in place specifically to stop companies pulling moves like that.
@TommyNL But you're still choosing to ignore what people are complaining about, you're focusing on something nobody actually has an issue with. Not allowing stacked upgrades isn't the issue. Telling people they can upgrade without telling them they can't stack, and not locking it down until afterwards, is the issue people have.
@B-I-G-DEVIL Just got the same one there, I'll probably wait a few days to see if Sony officially announce anything, and open a PayPal claim if needed based on them being mis-sold.
@BritneyfR_ee If they really were daft enough to not see this coming, then that's on Sony, not the customers. The upgrade trick on Xbox is pretty well known, I find it very hard to believe nobody at Sony knew about it and didn't see this coming.
If it was my business, I'd have had the foresight to explain what the restrictions were beforehand, and I definitely wouldn't have blamed customers from taking advantage of it!
There's no exploit here at all, if Sony really didn't want people stacking for the upgrade, then it's on them to explain that upfront. Nobody's saying that they should be forced to provide upgrades, just that they shouldn't block them now because of their own mistake.
Like you said, you win some, you lose some. Sony should accept their mistake and take the hit on this. That, or just put out a recall on the codes to let people easily get refunds, either would be fine imo.
@TommyNL "an example of the current generation" < knew it wouldn't be long until somebody hit out with the prime boomer mindset, defending the little indie company Sony to the death 😂
Nobody's claiming that they're entitled to a free upgrade to premium outright, that's not what people are angry about. The issue is Sony promoting an upgrade option, prompting people to go out and stack up on PS Plus which they wouldn't have bought otherwise, and then blocking them from using it in the way that Sony advertised, with no explanation on what they should do now.
The anti-consumer part isn't not allowing the upgrade, it's telling people they can upgrade with no restrictions, and then adding restrictions after people have bought non-refundable codes.
@Ultrasmiles What loophole? The upgrade path which Sony specifically explained in their own blog post and FAQ? That's not a loophole, that's a feature they advertised which they're apparently now pulling, after people have been locked into years of mis-sold PS Plus subs.
@twitchtvpat But it is still supported though, at least to the point where Sony haven't pulled PS Plus subs from stores and issued recalls with guaranteed refunds. PS Now, sure, but PS Plus subs can still be bought in most shops like Amazon, Game, etc. It's not like they're only available through dodgy CD key sites.
If Sony were to come out and say that from this point now, PS Plus subs are to be pulled from shelves and recalled, while honouring the ones already purchased, then there wouldn't really be an issue imo. But you can't specifically advertise an upgrade feature and then remove it after people buy subs to use it.
Sony absolutely would have known in advance that people would stack subs, especially when it's a well known and supported trick on Xbox. I've got no idea what they're thinking here, but I'm still not convinced they actually are blocking them deliberately despite what some customer service replies are saying. They'd have specifically mentioned a stacking limit otherwise at the same time surely?
I was really hoping they'd add support for FreeSync VRR like Xbox does but nope, just HDMI 2.1 alone, so you're out of luck if your TV only supports FreeSync.
Just got a new TV last month and thought I'd be fine with FreeSync, guess not though... More than a little salty about that 😂
@Lfc1105 That's a really good point actually, that would be a genuinely insane decision! I actually did try to extend my PS Plus through the PS5's own UI without redeeming a code and that gave an error as well, there's no way they're just going to block that for months on end.
Plus, if they genuinely were blocking them, I'm sure the support staff would have been told about it and would have been given specific answers when people inevitably start asking about it, but when I was talking to their support he didn't mention anything like that at all!
@tomassi Good luck with it, I'll update here if anything changes! Yeah a full year should be plenty of time and you're still getting a decent deal that way.
I was actually about to ditch PS Plus completely (actually runs out after today) but if I'm able to grab this deal, I'm happy to commit to a few years instead. Otherwise, I'm out 🤷♂️
I did see a story online about it, saying people were also having issues redeeming PS Now yesterday and that's since been fixed. That, and the fact that PS Plus codes are still being sold in Game and Amazon, makes me think it really is just the servers being overwhelmed, instead of Sony taking yet another inevitable PR hit by blocking them.
@tomassi Just been off the phone to ShopTo just there, they're having problems with activating the codes and they're saying they're hoping to get them all sorted by the end of today, but it might be tomorrow.
They said to me to open a support ticket so they can get my codes sorted, you'll likely need to do the same tbh! When I was talking to Sony about it though they confirmed the codes are valid, just not activated.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for July 2022 Available to Download Now
@TheMervinMan Ahhh good catch! I was trying to install through the mobile app and the hits version was the only one I could see. Thanks!
Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for July 2022 Available to Download Now
Is Black Flag showing up for anybody else as still being full price?

@FishDude Maybe wait until the start of June to be on the safe side, in case there's a delay in the launch

@BritneyfR_ee You don't know why people are surprised about Sony blocking people from doing something they specifically said they could do? 😂
