Re: Google Stadia Terrified Sony Before Streaming Service's Tepid Launch

Flurpsel

A friend of mine bought it and he describes himself as the target audience. A casual gamer who could gave a rat's *** about graphical fidelity (he skipped two console generations so anything is an improvement from his point of view). He enjoys the lack of a console, he has a decent internet connection.

To be honest I would still advise him a second hand PS4 but he wanted to give this a go. I've still yet to play it though.

Re: This Time Next Year, We'll Be Playing PS5

Flurpsel

If the backwards compatibility also counts for digitally purchased games and there are a couple of decent launch titles I might get it early. But definitely not untill at least a few months in to make sure the hardware is tested properly. I never had any problems whatsoever with my base PS4 in the 5 years I've had it but still..

Re: Rumour: PS5 Controller Removes Light Bar

Flurpsel

Lol I never thought so many people would like the lightbar. I found it pretty annoying.
Cons:

  • drains battery
  • reflects in the screen when playing in the dark
  • is distracting
  • couldn't be turned off

Pros:

  • ???

Same for the little speaker btw. Turned it off and never missed it. Overall I did like the Dualshock 4. Mainly for it's ergonomics compared to the 3.

Re: Days Gone Is PlayStation Game of the Year at This Year's Golden Joystick Awards

Flurpsel

@JJ2 well I mean they were advertised and shown in trailers as one of the main features of the game but it turned out to be nothing more than a gimmick.

I played pretty far I think, did a lot of the recon missions with the guys in yellow hazmat suits. But the missions didn't evolve beyond this or shooting a bunch of people, and the hordes never got the attention it deserved.

I think it had a lot of potential but in the end it didn't deliver in my opinion. I'm glad you enjoyed it though.

Re: Watch the First 30 Minutes of Need for Speed Heat Gameplay Right Now

Flurpsel

I might get this eventually, but theres no way I'm paying 60euro for a NFS game at launch. I won't get enough enjoyment out of it to warrant that price and also the looming microtransaction hell that might put me off buying the game alltogether.

I did like the NFS reboot by Ghost Games more than the Criterion ones before. The driving felt a bit more grounded, you had to actually use the brakes every now and then.. the driving model was just a bit... unpredictable?

By the way I usually play NFS games only untill about 2 third of completion before the cars get too fast and it loses all plausability to me. Anyone else has the same thing?

Re: Soapbox: The Outer Worlds Highlights Just How Far Fallout Has Fallen

Flurpsel

@themcnoisy I just played through mass effect andromeda in about 70 hours and it was the most fun Ive had with a game in a long time. I can see the flaws and I can see why someone that was superhyped would be disappointed. But having played it a couple years after release with zero expectation I can objectively say it really wasnt that bad of a game. Just mass effect on the PS4, with subpar facial animations and too much filler content, but mass effect nonetheless.

Re: Battlefield V Takes the War to the Pacific in New Teaser

Flurpsel

@leucocyte I totally agree with you. I'd be more than willing to pay money for extra maps but the content just isn't there. My bet is they're working on a PS5 launch title set in a modern era.
BF4 did exceptionally well despite being a technical mess at launch, solely because it was a launch title and it was really the only decent shooter out there for well over a year.

Re: PS5 Price Will Land Between $400 and $500 Says Poll, But $500 to $600 Isn't Out of the Question

Flurpsel

@Truthhurts2 at launch they lost money on hardware sales. Right now 6 years into its lifespan Im sure they can make a profit.
Ive read this multiple times and I think its believable enough. Ill admit I havent done any actual research into it

Edit: quick google search gave me a bunch of articles from 2013, just prior to the release of the ps4

Re: PS5 Price Will Land Between $400 and $500 Says Poll, But $500 to $600 Isn't Out of the Question

Flurpsel

I think your reference point should be the launch price of the PS4, then decide if there are any reasons it could be cheaper or more expensive.

Reasons for more expensive could be:

  • SSD (which is nice but not that expensive anymore really)
  • Playstation is a succesfull brand and had a fantastic generation with a lot of well received exclusives
  • Inflation

Reasons for cheaper than launch PS4 could be:

  • Even with the PS4 they lost money on every unit sold, so profit is not made from the consoles but from subscriptions and (digital) game sales.
  • Price is a driving factor for sales

I think these arguments cancel eachother out and think it will be priced equally to the PS4 launch price with maybe a 10% margin to it being more expensive. So I'd say €400-450.

Re: DOOM Eternal Delayed to March 2020

Flurpsel

Real bummer, one of the few (only?) games I was genuinely interested in coming out in 2019. However I do agree it's better to delay and deliver a quality product. There have been a lot of shoddy releases lately.. (looking at you Battlefield V and Ghost Recon)

Edit: btw what is DOOM64 exactly? I tried googling it but it looks like original DOOM ported for the N64, but it makes zero sense to then port it back to PS4?

Re: Review: Mass Effect: Andromeda (PS4)

Flurpsel

Playing through this now and I think I agree with the conclusion. It's a decent enough game but maybe I like it a bit more because I'm a big Mass Effect fan.. and for it's current price tag it's more than worth it.

Re: PS Plus September 2019 PS4 Games Announced

Flurpsel

Played Arkham Knight after thoroughly enjoying arkham 1 and 2, but it didnt click with me. The batmobile is very well made and extremely flashy but the side quests it produced were distracting from the main gameplay loop: punching people in the face.

Its actually this game that made me realize I enjoy a streamlined linear experience way more than a bloated open world.

Still its certainly not a bad game and I do appreciate the quality of this months line up.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Most Anticipated PS4 Games for the Rest of 2019?

Flurpsel

I suppose I have Doom Eternal because I really liked the last one. The previous one found a perfect balance between old skool gameplay and modern gameplay mechanics like upgrading your weapon, and the story was perfectly wacky but with just enough plausibility (I know right) to keep it interesting.

But the bar is set pretty high and I doubt this can live up to the expectations. I'll definitely wait a few months before buying
