Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 319

I've never played or actually heard much about the first persona @crimsontadpoles... It's usually always Persona 2 (Usually Innocent Sin) I hear fans are talking about regarding the older entries. I was tempted to get a Playstation Classic on the cheap purely to try Persona 1 (Or Revelations Persona as it was called)

Have fun with it and Megaman 8!

The PSP remake of Persona 1 @crimsontadpoles or the PS1 version?

I can only imagine that it's quite the different experience compared to Persona 5 (Not to mention 3 & 4)... Persona 1 has first person dungeon crawling like the first two mainline SMT games doesn't it?

As for me I'll be playing the same as last week. I'm on Opus/Chapter 7 of Shining Resonance Refrain and nearing the end of the game.

My run as the Amazon in Dragon's Crown Pro is also coming to a conclusion and I'll maybe make some more progress in Iconoclasts as well.

Stay safe everyone and have fun gaming!

Shining Resonance Refrain (On PS4) is what I'll mainly be playing this weekend. I'm finding it pretty decent, if unambitious, and the more light hearted presentation and tone is just what I needed apparently.

Due to a colleague taking ill yesterday though I'll be back at work teaching on Monday.

Take care and stay safe everyone!

Re: Persona 5 Royal - The Best JRPG on PS4 Just Got Even Better

HallowMoonshadow

I love Persona 3 to bits and Persona 4 was a wonderful follow up but I unfortunately didn't like Persona 5 in pretty much every regard (The stupidly long wait for it to release and the hype I had for it probably didn't help)

I wish I enjoyed it half as much as everyone else did but I don't think I'd ever play through P5 again and I certainly don't feel compelled to get royal.

Regardless of my feelings for P5 and apathy towards Royal it's a good review ShogunRok 👍

Hopefully P5 Scramble might actually tempt me to give these characters another chance whenever that releases!

I've finished the main campaign of Resident Evil Revelations 2. Got a bunch of collectables and the bonus/extra chapters to do but I might leave that alone for the time being.

I'll probably play some more Iconoclasts and maybe some Dragon's Crown Pro over the weekend amidst lesson planning.

Have a great weekend everyone!

NieR: Automata for me this week.

It has some faults and I'm in two minds on it's way of storytelling (Not to mention it has unique views on what constitues as an "end") so far...

But I think it's nearly time for me to peek behind the curtain and see what's really going on in this game of Androids and Machines...

I love everything else about it though. Good combat and a lovely dyanmic soundtrack

Re: Rumour: Job Listings Suggest Bethesda Is Moving onto The Elder Scrolls VI as Starfield Development Nears Completion

HallowMoonshadow

Honestly aside from DOOM Eternal (So long as it Beth don't mess with ID and it too much) I don't think i'll be touching a game of theirs again.

Fallout 4 was a big disappointment (And I don't rate Skyrim that highly either) and I don't think anyone can really defend their scummy actions and money grabbing with Fallout 76 and Elder Scrolls Blades... StarField's gonna be littered with it I just know it

Plus I really don't want to deal with that awful buggy gamebyro/creation engine again 😂

Re: PlayStation 2019 Wrap-Up Gives You an Awesome Breakdown of Your PS4 Gaming Stats

HallowMoonshadow

Mine is a complete shambles and utterly wrong to put it mildly. It seems to be only taking into account what I played on the PS3 for some reason and even then it's wrong.

Apparently I didn't play Digimon Cyber Slueth for over eighty hours last year, or the Witcher III and Dark Souls 2 for a good 30 hours a piece.

My highest game was the Jak and Daxter collection for six hours apparently. I... didn't even play it last year.

I only spent 22 hours gaming throughout the whole year (over two days somehow) and got the marksman title for playing Bioshock 1 for maybe 3 hours at most... 😐

Just like last week and probably for a few more weekends to come I'll purely be playing Divinity: Original Sin II - Definitive Edition for PS4.

I've been reeled in hook, line and sinker now after spreading my attention out over three or four games the past month or so.

60 hours in and the end is currently nowhere in sight. Loving it!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 303

HallowMoonshadow

Like last week Divinity: Original Sin II - Definitive Edition is taking up the brunt of my time witn me ready to leave Fort Joy!

But now I'm (relatively) free from work til the new year I can also switch between Soul Calibur VI and Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night much more easily! And I may succumb to getting Dark Souls Remastered for that £13 price tag in the psn sale...

Merry christmas everyone and happy gaming!

Re: Game of the Decade: Destiny Paved the Way for Games as a Service

HallowMoonshadow

You're missing the point @FellSorcerer.

It's not about Destiny being a great game. As I just said to oldschool1987 the article states of ten tiles that "have left a historic mark on the industry"

This isn't a top ten or best in genre as you suggest. This is advancing the medium of gaming as a whole.

... I don't like it either but ya know... I get the reasoning behind it. It's very clear to see the influence it has had just like Dark Souls (Which I do agree with)

Re: Game of the Decade: Destiny Paved the Way for Games as a Service

HallowMoonshadow

... The articles say It's playstation/multiplatform candidates only @oldschool1987 😁

So Skyward Sword, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey are out... And I definitely wouldn't Skyward sword or Mario odyssey as a game of the decade.

Neat games but not something that advanced the medium of gaming as the article states of ten tiles that "have left a historic mark on the industry"

I don't like Destiny or games as a service in general as I said in my original post... But it was a trandsetter. For better or for worse.

Re: Game of the Decade: Destiny Paved the Way for Games as a Service

HallowMoonshadow

Begrudingly it is important and deserves it's place too.

After all the whole point of these articles is more about the impact on the medium of gaming a whole... not just ten really great games.

I don't really have any affection for Destiny though and the whole games as a service model can do one

I shan't be suprised however if Fortnite makes this list.

Not my cup of tea either to put it mildly but you can't deny the similarish impact Fortnite has had.

In fact similarly to Dark Souls it has many imitators (which Fortnite itself is to the actual originator PUBG) but also had similarities to Destiny with games as a service but in the free to play space.

Plus no game this decade has been quite the global phenomenon as that...
