Re: Hogwarts Legacy Fans Livid Quidditch Is Allegedly Being Sold as a Separate Game

MinervaX

@Flaming_Kaiser If they do them the proven way, a F2P console game only gives the player skins and cosmetics rewards for their money, absolutely zero in game progression.

I don't play multiplayer games, but those cosmetics are just that, and you can simply relax and have a fun game without them.

Edit:
then again, they might go the EA sports way and not actually let you play a position, but instead play a team, and lock team players via card packs and gross stuff like that.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Fans Livid Quidditch Is Allegedly Being Sold as a Separate Game

MinervaX

@Impossibilium

But the conspiracy theory is mostly concerning the fact that it was noticeably missing from Hogwarts Legacy. It actually may have been left out because of the existence of the other game, being released by the same publisher.

Or simply because the game was already huge, and not everyone in Hogwarts is a Quidditch athlete. A Harry potter game does not need to force every single player to go through Quidditch minigames. Not to mention, to make Quidditch any justice in todays day an age, would require a whole game.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy Fans Livid Quidditch Is Allegedly Being Sold as a Separate Game

MinervaX

I dont care to defend anything that makes Joanne money, but this is ridiculous. Even the art style here is different, a lot more cartoony. These are separe projects, and as far as we know this won’t even be sold, but be a F2P title with season passes and what not.

This game very likely will try to mimic the Rocket League monetization, only not with licensed vehicles, though, just a constant influx of robes, brooms and customization options.

Re: SEGA Poised to Purchase Angry Birds Maker for $1 Billion

MinervaX

Interesting bit, I just went to check Sega Sammy Holdings current cash on hand, as of 3/31/22 they had exactly $1.24 billion, and it seems their cash in hand has been going down every year (likely a good thing unless you saving to make a big move, no investor likes too much cash on hand.)

Hard to guess how much that pool had fluctuated in the last year, but very curious to see their update for the 2023 calendar.

Oh and their market cap is $4.54 Billion right now, this acquisition represents 22% of their market cap. Does not imply they will grow by 22%, but it’s not out of the question either.

Re: Suicide Squad PS5 Game Delay Now Official, Out in February 2024

MinervaX

@zupertramp Its mostly due to the original rumor, that it was going to just be pushed back by a few months (and further into the year, important bit) and that same source said no mayor changes were planned.

The fact the delay is now for next year obviously mean things have changed internally from whatever that source said.

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

MinervaX

@NEStalgia I'll check it out, although always wary of anything that might get credentials access, if that is needed for it to work.

Even if its trustworthy now, scummy companies are in a habit of offering a lot of money to smaller companies to acquire them and get their hands on user private info and passwords.

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

MinervaX

@NEStalgia I figured you would find this amusing:

I should had known better, but my g cloud arrived today and the first thing I attempted was to install PlayStation Remote play.

After logging in, it demands I connect a Dual Shock 4 via Bluetooth to work.... like... seriously??? I guess I won't be using this to increase my PS5 game time, at the end of the day, just play even more Xbox and Steam games.

No wonder they are considering selling their dedicated device, they want you owning at least some Sony propietary product if you are to interact with their games, period. This could had easily used the device controls, plus the screen itself as a touch pad.

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

MinervaX

@NEStalgia For what its worth I went to the store from a link in Windows Central, not sure if that will do any difference.

Edit: link

Edit 2: looking at the page I don't see any mention of 2 items or more, US website for what its worth.

Edit 3:
on it not being the best at emu, thats fine, I also got a Steamdeck anyways I can do emu at, but its nice still having that option on this device. The main plus is playing many android games that have controller support, hell, even ones that dont but have on-screen control since a recent patch added touch button mapping to the G Cloud.

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

MinervaX

@BeerIsAwesome I have two posts that talk about prices so not sure which one you are refering to, so apologies for covering my bases:

A $300 device by Sony that only does remote play would be a total disaster, in fact, even at $200, if all it does is remote play without having a full Android OS, it would be a disaster.

As for the Logitech G Cloud, I personally find that $250 is a good price point, especially given it has much better build quality than most android handhelds, its quite bigger, and it has full Android, so despite its name its capable of running emulators and games from the Play store. Their sticker price of $350 is ridiculous, though, since its $50 short of a Steam Deck, a way more capable piece of hardware.

Re: PS5 Remote Play Handheld Purportedly Pegged for November

MinervaX

@NEStalgia

more elaborate setups like Logitech G-Cloud that's hurt only by its price

Its limited time only, but at Logitech's site, they have the thing on sale for $300, and in addition have a spring sale, with a coupon (that they will show you on the store), that lowers the price further to $250. I thought at that price it looked interesting, since it also can run basically any Android game and tons of Emulators up to PS2|GameCube generations very well, so I decided to buy myself one.

Re: Persona 3 Remake Is Reportedly Real and In Development

MinervaX

it's the fact Microsoft paid to have the next gen versions exclusive, so there wasn't a PS5 version for playstation players who supported the games from the beginning, but there was an xbox series X version...

Honestly I think this is all on Sega/Atlus. Yes, MS likely paid for it, but Sega/Atlus accepted it without a second thought (also for the PS3|4 ports) because of the huge PS4 install base and those versions being perfectly playable on PS5, and P5R already not selling that well compared to P5's original release. Why invest the resources on a third PS release of P5 when their second one didn't really move that many units?

Re: Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 Will Have a World Map Like in Final Fantasy 10

MinervaX

@Wilforce

From an editorial perspective, I’m curious why the team chose to single out PS5 in the headline considering that it is a PS5 exclusive.

Search Engine Optimization, they been doing it for a while. Dont be misled by reading "on PS5" on any article about multi-platform games either, the news likely applies to almost every platform.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 Will Have a World Map Like in Final Fantasy 10

MinervaX

@ChronoBreak777

I’m fine with that. Too many games are way too open for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Its one thing when linear games like God of War or Gears of War decide they want to try being open world experiences, but its a whole other thing when games rooted on open world designs all the way back to their NES days, start closing their design into Call of Duty like corridor experiences just because its easier to do.

Not that this is the first Final Fantasy to go that path...

Re: Almost Every Mainline Final Fantasy Game Will Soon Be Playable on Current PlayStation Consoles

MinervaX

Honestly, XI is still in active development and could, IMO, work on PS5, but porting that to other platforms might be hell. The game on PC is still, I hear, using some legacy PS2 dev tools.

It’s funny that right now the best place to play 13 is ok Xbox Series X under the BC program, they went above and beyond on that implementation to the point it almost felt as a remaster.

Re: Most PlayStation Fans Aren't At All Sold on a PS5 Remote Play Handheld

MinervaX

If this thing is real, I’m sure it’s meant to helo with their Japanese market, we’re mobility is extremely important and high speed internet a lot more ubiquitous.

I mentioned this in the other thread but I would be interested in this if it’s not a single purpose device. If it’s an android tablet (with market, browser, etc) that happens to come with a remote app, I might be interested, so long the price is right and the specs good enough.

Re: Sony Claps Back at UK Regulator's 'Irrational' Reversal on Microsoft Activision Deal

MinervaX

@TrickyDicky99

A weird thing for Sony to say when they are putting their exclusives on PC thus enticing people to leave the Playstation platform.

I think that's a silly stance, but... lets entertain it... maybe Sony does believe shipping a buggy game on a platform indeed can destroy confidence on that platform... and that's why they released The Last of Us Part I on Windows PCs in the state they released. 🙃

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Would Still Be in Development Without the PS5

MinervaX

@NEStalgia I’m some ways I would like SE to be owned by sony, but agree it would likely be the end of all things not FF or DQ. Sony would rather they make 20 ultra realistic Forspoken attempts than make another Bravely Default or Octopath Traveler.

We do know they dont have the money right now to buy them, though.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Care About a PS5 Remote Play Handheld?

MinervaX

@tselliot my point is that I would buy a Sony branded device that filled that space, and if it happens to dub as a device that boosts PS in Japan by giving them a mobile presence, its win/win.

But if its locked to only be a PS5/4 remote play device, and perhaps PSExtra streaming client... that would be too narrow of a use to spend money on.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Care About a PS5 Remote Play Handheld?

MinervaX

I would be interested IF it’s not a dedicated device. Like, if it was an android handheld, comfortable, affordable, with Google Play and a browser, I would get it as I would be able to use it to play Android games as well as stream xCloud games.

I have maybe only once it twice used remote play on the PS5.

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Really Is Targeting 2024 Release Date

MinervaX

Honestly last Gen I only got a Pro after the PS5 had already launched, and that was a hand-down from a friend that realized console gaming is not their jam.

I don’t play the PS5 enough these days to pursue a PRO out of the gate, I might get one years later if I see a price cut, for collection sake mostly.

I would be a lot more likely to get an Xbox Series X2

Edit:
Honestly I can see room for either PS or XB pro console existing. Would be nice to pop a game and just pick the highest quality mode and retaining 60fps.

Re: With All Eyes on Activision Blizzard, EA Is Actually Driving Most Console User Engagement

MinervaX

@Vivisapprentice Minecraft; and also most MS games have a strong focus on multiplayer. Most Sony games so far tend to be campaign focused and once that’s done, that’s done. They basically just have GT and The Show as games with continuous replay, yet people still play Halo Infinite, Gears 5, Forza, Minecraft, Minecraft Dungeons, ESO, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, that zombie game, etc.

Things might change for Sony a bit when TLOU2 multiplayer arrives. I do wonder if this measurement is or isn’t counting Destiny as a Sony properly yet.

Re: The Last of Us PC Is Not 'Naughty Dog Quality', Developer Admits

MinervaX

@KundaliniRising333

Think about how quickly the entire games journalism industry had to completely do a 180 publicly when they realized they could not continue to gloss over the fraud that cyberpunk 2077 was at release...

Thats a bit different, because the only version that was not complete garbage (most of the time) was the PC version, and that was what CDPR provided for reviewers, if they wanted a day one review out there, they had to review the only good version.

@Titntin

Its a nice conspiracy theory I'll give you that!
But if the game is truly broken maybe they wont review it until they can actually complete it?

As bad as the port is, the game seems to be playable, but again, they were not provided a review code and everyone had to wait until the game launched. At that point, many reporters tend to not even bother, there is no much traffic on reviewing a game after its been out a few days, especially a Steam release. They have a very good and visible review system built into the store, by now anyone that wants to know if the game is worth buying just needs to see the 45% right in the search results.

As for the Hogwarts handling, I personally think they did a fantastic job.

Re: The Last of Us PC Is Not 'Naughty Dog Quality', Developer Admits

MinervaX

@Texan_Survivor

Haven't you noticed that all major gaming websites are refusing to put their reviews on Metacritic even though the game was released for days now ?

Honestly, I chalked it up to Sony refusing to give codes to anyone until the game launched, but I feel like the game has been out long enough by now that everyone had time to review it. If the likes of IGN and GameSpot end up reviewing the game after it gets a patch, you might have a point there.

Dont MetaCritic have a deadline before they stop accepting reviews scores, though?

Re: The Last of Us PC Is Naughty Dog's Worst Ever Reviewed Game by Some Margin

MinervaX

@themightyant

Exclusives ARE important, else I wouldn't want all consoles.

Disregarding everyone else for a minute, I was under the impression you had an Xbox too, and there is no game you can get on Xbox that you can’t get on PC day one. Am I missing something?

As for a Sony PC store, I fully expect such a store to be managed just as they manage PlayStation: plenty of exclusivity third party deals, plus Trophies and PSN integration with free games and the like to encourage their most ardent ecosystem fans to buy on that store first. These are all things that have proven to work for Epic.
