The game looks fantastic. My only nitpick would be the gliding. As good and fun as it looked, I fear it will overtake the web-swinging, taking too much flavor away. Hopefully in game, in a less scripted scenario, it will have more limits and require more swinging to build momentum and the like.
Really looking forward to play this as soon as it hits an affordable price (unless my partner ends up gifting it to me for Christmas or birthday.)
Haptics aside, I can’t see this behind any better than the Logitech G-Cloud.
At least with the G-Cloud i can play other native android games (including plenty of Square Enix games) and also jump into game pass and Xbox remote play.
This thing is being compared left and right to a Wii U, I would not be shocked if it ends up either being shelved or only released in Japan.
Oh btw: PS remote play sucks if you don’t have your PS hooked via good Ethernet.
@NinjaNicky not meaning to argue but you can get a refund on digital games even if you didn’t like it on both Steam and Xbox so long you didn’t play it for over 2 hours. If you can judge the game is a stinker within that time, you can get a refund.
Also… where do you buy physical games that will take a return on an opened game?
@Snake_V5 this is a publisher call, not Remedy’s. Epic Games, I think (unless there is another publisher called Epic), is publishing.
These days they only publish F2P games. They know very well that having a box in the shelves helps, because they keep putting empty boxes of Fortnite with coded in stores. Would not be shocked if they end up doing that with this game too, beware.
While this is obviously good information for Xbox consumers, we’re hopeful the Redmond firm won’t put an embargo on the announcement of third-party titles during its own presentation next month, as it forced fans to wait for the confirmation of Persona’s various remakes on other platforms last year.
For what its worth, it does seem Konami and Sony are doing something similar with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection. Even Konami's site is refusing to say anything about platforms, we simply know its coming to PS5 because it was in the show.
They might update/confirm all platforms after some similar window is over.
I remember even when this got showcased, and there was a lot of negative reaction to it, and me not getting it. To me, it was the most impressive showcase in that show.
Because they having a sly dig at Sony's show for it's lack of exclusives, if they do the same thing at their show it'll be a bad look
I don't see this as a dig, its just MS trying to make sure the word is out there on what is actually coming to Xbox, before the narrative "these games are not coming to Xbox" gets started, something that can always happen among more casual gamers.
Xbox actually has done similarly in previous Sony showcases.
Also, Phil congratulated Sony on a nice presentation, and I honestly think he was not being ironic.
@get2sammyb another thing of note was the surprising lack of dates, even time frames. A few titles "late 2023" or "this year" but most of it had no date at all. I would had expected Spiderman to have a date, if its really expected to hit October.
@Mad-Vampire I can understand a streaming device, I have the Logitech G-Cloud, I can use it for remote play but its main highlight is streaming Game Pass games and play android games on a proper handheld like device.
Yes, the G-Cloud is also wifi-only, but its not tied to the wifi my consoles are because its a great Game Pass client, and again, I can run some android games (including the FF Pixel Remasters and many other final fantasy games.)
A device that is exclusively meant to do remote play... that's very disappointing.
@Mad-Vampire I have.... opinions on its design. It looks like a generic tablet with bat wings. Maybe its comfortable, but does not look very portable. Definitively something that will get tangled in stuff inside of a bag, and worse: they said it only will work over wifi, so its a Wii U pad with a bit more range.
Well, ended up watching it and I ended up going for poor.
The spider-man gameplay looks fantastic, but everything else was either meh. Too much cinematic/no actual game footage, not enough first party reveals, no date on Spider-Man 2...
So much for "phase two".
Liked to see some AC: Mirage impressions but that also, I think, was not in-game footage.
@Sequel the Metal Gear 3 in this collection seems to simply be a remaster/port (expect 4k/60 on current gen consoles)
The Metal Gear... Triangle? Alpha? Anyways the remake is a whole different sale. Will make the whole "Persona 3 remake" thing a lot less weird whenever that gets unveiled.
Hope this is multi-plat. I own the previous 360 BC games on xbox since long before they got delisted, but MGS was never on XBox and would be nice to have a complete collection there.
Wonder what would included in a Vold 2... MGS4 and 5, Rising and Peace Walker... ? nah they likely will have 3 volumes total...
Although few would play them, would like it if the MSX2 games made it into one of these collections.
Sigh, let's just hope nintendo didn't care about this cloud nonsenese.
Not like that will stop them. Eventually, I expect things to go away from NSO catalog of legacy games. They already decided to delist the digital and physical 3D Mario anniversary collection thing, and lets not forget when they delisted the Wii U version of ... what was it? Mario 3D World? as they were getting ready to ship the Switch version.
Yea its different in that case because you already own it, but again, with NSO, we don't own anything. Whenever they see it convenient, they will pull the plug.
@Snake_V5 I wish Game Pass allowed for that but they don’t, not even for first party games. Rumor has it they are working on it, there was a store badge leaked a while ago that pointed at them doing the ground work, but they still not offering it.
It would be a big PR win if Sony beat Xbox to allowing gamers play their digitally owned games (at least first party ones) via streaming in Premium tier, of course this would mean a need to get those servers on PS5 hardware.
Streaming third party games is a huge legal minefield, as proven by services like Nvidia Now. You got to negotiate with every publisher, for every title.
Hopefully this means they finally planning to transition their console streaming from PS4 hardware to PS5s now that they have addressed their retail stock situation.
@ztpayne7 P6 is coming, rumors say next year and expectations is it will be announce on one of those Persona concerts.
Whatever this is, I hope it’s not yet another version of P5. I’m with you on wanting a P5R sequel. That Final Cut scene in the metro left me screaming for more.
I would love a sequel that takes place after the best P5R ending, personally. P5S is one I been losing on playing as I was disappointed to learn it’s based if the P5 baseline best ending, that to me is the complete ending.
I know many here don’t trust the sources but wasn’t a rumor that there are 3 persona based games in development, with two of them being 3 Remake and P6? This likely the 3rd project. Hopefully not a dancing or fighting game.
Expect 2 or 3 PC ports per year in the future. Maybe even one per quarter.
I would not expect much hype though. So far they feel they have done very well announcing the ports very close to their launch. Their marketing also seems to be rather minimal, relying almost entirely on Steam for organic navigation.
I don’t expect them to focus much if at all on PC ports during the showcase, unless it’s a dual thing (PC port + PS5 remaster launching on similar windows.)
@Green-Bandit there is practically no game that is so bad, that it won’t find an audience that honestly enjoys it.
I mean, there are some that are truly garbage, but these two at their worst are just mediocre and only got the hate because they were marketed as Triple A titles with huge marketing campaigns.
I plan to buy the game whenever I see it dirt cheap, $25 tops.
I guess I’ll have to keep my eyes open for the DLC pricing somehow, since that won’t be included in the physical price, or did they ever release a physical Deluxe Edition?
This is very surprising given that Premium does not offer that much relative to Extra.
I don’t really find either that appealing, personally, at least not until their entire back catalog gets added on a permanent basis. I’m not even talking day one, just add anything over a year old to the service and keep them all there.
@Hoodie718 that’s a shame. Rooting for failure should be reserved for 💩 practices like loot boxes.
One feature I think would turn all games into PSVR killer apps is if Sony attempted again the 3D visuals thing they attempted during the hype of 3D TVs.
Imagine if almost all PS5 games had a mode that simply allowed you to play them in a virtual TV, inside your headset, that happened to itself be a 3D TV. Games would still be playing on the flat surface, but they could all pop out at the player. The tech has a lot of potential and I really hope it lives long enough to fulfill that potential.
@AdamNovice only MS was ever going to see a “Redfall situation”. Sony has enough output to be able to shrug a bad game under the rug and have no one care if it’s a dud.
Not saying it was a bad idea to shut this if it was struggling, but, especially service games, can do a 180 overnight in very unpredictable ways. Sea of Thieves was not very successful at launch but is today one of Xbox most successful games. Fortnite itself was a disaster until they added one mode to the game that made it into a huge success.
Sometimes, with service games, it’s worth releasing a few duds and give them a year or two to see if they grow wings.
I can understand that but I doubt Sony are going to do less single player games since they bought studios and expanded there current ones to accommodate these games alongside their bread and butter ones
To be fair to those scared of the SP output: Naughty Dog, a studio traditionally focused on SP games, is one of the studios heavily focused on one such service game.
@Nem
Hopefully there will be consequences when these live services fail for those at the top that made these decisions. Don't blame the developers for your mistakes.
I’m sure Sony expects most of these service games to not succeed or even survive multiple years. The goal is to do a shotgun approach, throw all ideas they can at the wall, because if a single one of them becomes a Fortnight level success, they will have their future success guaranteed.
Previous years during the PS5 generation have proven it can; last year saw Horizon Forbidden West, The Last of Us: Part I, and God of War Ragnarok all hit. Before that in 2021 was Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
They also had Grand Turismo 7 in 2022 upping the count to 4. 2021 also had Ghost of Tsushima Directors cut and Death Stranding Directors cut bumping the count to 4.
As little a fan I am of these PS5 “remasters”, they really are a smart move on Sonys part as they add titles to the list of platform exclusives and diversify their yearly calendar release. It also works wonders for Nintendo. I didn’t add it to my prediction list but I expect at least one remaste reveal during the showcase. Doubt it’s Bloodourne, but if it’s not that they have a long list of titles they could have ready for a quick late year release. I would kill for a Infamous Second Son remaster with some additional content tossed in.
Another thing that I would not be shocked by would be a sequel to Sackboy.
Anyways, yea I have little doubt Sony will have any hard time delivering on this.
@Intr1n5ic I linked to an article mostly due to the focus on the 1 million confirmed by Sony themselves. I agree I should had also highlighted the 2 million internal rumor was yet another reason I don’t trust Bloomberg, but the 1 million estimate was real.

Btw (for everyone) don’t take this as me celebrating a Sony fail. I honestly want console VR to succeed even if I can’t justify getting one myself. I find the tech is a great PS5 platform differentiator, just as Switch portability and Xbox GamePass streaming.
I do wish I had an easy way to test VR2 without buying it first… I’ll have to check with my youngest sibling and see if they ever bought it. Recall they wanted it.
True or false, it was seen as negative news by many.

Edit 2: the 2 million initial target repeating is another example of why I don’t trust Bloomberg one bit. But many saw negativity on the 1 million goal.
I don’t know how I missed this being announced m, but Star Wars + UBisoft open world formula???? Sign me up right now!!! This might be the one thing that makes me break my no-$70-game-rule.
Still no day one but, these days need to see some reviews to make sure the thing is not a buggy mess.
@helloim_anthony anything but single-player tends to be seen as a horrible thing among fans of third person cinematic adventure fans. I do wonder how they are taking the news of Horizon becoming an MMO…
Honestly, I would only play it Single-Player, but co-op Spider-Men Parker/Miles would be amazing. Hell I would dip my toes into the mode after clearing it once solo.
Double edged sword. There have been many in-numbered Final Fantasy games and they never sell as well as the mainline numbered series. It’s not just quality, it’s perception that these numbered entries are the main line. That’s way harder to communicate to the masses without numbers, not just news site readership.
It’s also the same with Star Wars. Rogue One was arguably the best of the new Star Wars movies, but it didn’t come close to selling as much as the Episide # entries.
@Ken_Kaniff this is more in line with that I expect too.
I would love to be wrong and see them come out of nowhere with an announcement of White Knight Chronicles 3 or a fourth entry in the Infamous series, but the chances of having my mind blown are low enough that I rather just get a summary of the reveals here instead of spending an hour watching a stream.
@twitchtvpat whenever did they do that? They have never taken less than a year and a half from announcement to delivery of triple A games.
I could see them announcing something akin to Sackboy to be released by the end of the year, or service/vr games. Only exciting news I could see for this year would be revealing Wolverine is hitting by Christmas.
I’m not feeling it. So far I know I’ll hear more news about Spider-Man, a game I already want to buy (once it goes on a sale, not paying $70 for no game) and given Sonys track record anything they announce is likely going to be years away.
So unless they drop big third party news, I don’t see them announcing anything that will get me excited for this year.

I guess that’d one way to prevent people from renting or re-selling your game.
Re: Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3 Launch on PS5 in the Master Collection
@KidRyan one thing to notice from the official site: the site lists the 3 titles +? (Literally, plus question mark).

@LiamCroft I recall the denial and that they always expected 1 million, but it was still seen as negative at the time, even if nowhere near Bloomberg extreme reports. This is 2/3rds to that estimate.

@Intr1n5ic yes. Did you read my post? I might be misremembering but recall some previous rumors that were seen as “negative” claimed 1 million.
(I’m not talking about Bloomberg I don’t trust them at all)
Edit: found it

There was lots of gloom and doom when Sony stared it would ship 1 million units from the predicted original goal of 2 million.

Isn’t this less than the already pessimistic rumors?
Re: Feature: Take Part in the PlayStation Showcase Predictions Quiz
My predictions:
Spider-Man 2 trailer (mix of cut scenes and gameplay)
Multiple live service games, among them:
VR stuff from third parties, most of it ports from the old PSVR
Edit to expand:
At least one remaster (doubt Bloodbourne but there is a lot out there that could use a port/remaster)
At least one title in the vein of Sackboy or Knack

Honestly, I would only play it Single-Player, but co-op Spider-Men Parker/Miles would be amazing. Hell I would dip my toes into the mode after clearing it once solo.
Re: Final Fantasy Could Ditch Numbers for Future Instalments
Double edged sword. There have been many in-numbered Final Fantasy games and they never sell as well as the mainline numbered series. It’s not just quality, it’s perception that these numbered entries are the main line. That’s way harder to communicate to the masses without numbers, not just news site readership.
It’s also the same with Star Wars. Rogue One was arguably the best of the new Star Wars movies, but it didn’t come close to selling as much as the Episide # entries.
They really should just rename XIV, though.
Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You for the PlayStation Showcase?
@Ken_Kaniff this is more in line with that I expect too.
I would love to be wrong and see them come out of nowhere with an announcement of White Knight Chronicles 3 or a fourth entry in the Infamous series, but the chances of having my mind blown are low enough that I rather just get a summary of the reveals here instead of spending an hour watching a stream.
Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You for the PlayStation Showcase?
@twitchtvpat whenever did they do that? They have never taken less than a year and a half from announcement to delivery of triple A games.
I could see them announcing something akin to Sackboy to be released by the end of the year, or service/vr games. Only exciting news I could see for this year would be revealing Wolverine is hitting by Christmas.
Re: Poll: How Hyped Are You for the PlayStation Showcase?
I’m not feeling it. So far I know I’ll hear more news about Spider-Man, a game I already want to buy (once it goes on a sale, not paying $70 for no game) and given Sonys track record anything they announce is likely going to be years away.
So unless they drop big third party news, I don’t see them announcing anything that will get me excited for this year.
