Re: GTA 3 Remaster Will Be Playable As Part of PS Now

PapaGlitch

@Yomogi if Switch got Vice City (as part of the expansion for their online service) then I'd be able to play the whole thing across 3 different consoles! As you say though it's unlikely, which is a shame as VC is the only one I'd I'm really interested in!

Re: PS Plus November 2021 Lineup Will Include Three Bonus PSVR Games

PapaGlitch

@themightyant Same. I actually tried it at an event and was completely blown away with the shark demo and ordered one there and then. Unfortunately, the shark demo was about the only thing I could play on it. I kept trying to persevere with it but couldn't manage to keep the sickness at bay, and eventually sold it to my nephew. It's such a shame because when by body could take it, it was an unbelievable achievement, and I really hope advances in tech can help. But as you said, I am skeptical

Re: Rumour: PS Now Adds The Last of Us 2, Fallout 76, and Final Fantasy VIII

PapaGlitch

Now my question is, will I be able to take advantage of the patch that allows it to run at 60fps on PS5? Seeing as Now doesn't yet support PS5 games, yet this isn't a native PS5 game...

Regardless, hopefully it is a permanent addition. I wouldn't mind playing through again, but probably not so soon after finishing it the first time around...

Re: Reaction: Sony Has Quietly But Confidently Grown Its First-Party Lineup

PapaGlitch

For a while it looked like the industry was heading towards a sort of hegemony, where you could play any games anywhere. However, it feels like this generation more than any other will be the generation where exclusives are the kingmakers. I'm glad to have all 3 consoles, for the first in fact, but feel for those who can't as whichever you choose it feels like you'll miss out on a massive amount for the next few years.

The only exception seems to be PC - perhaps the savviest thing would be to just get a PC and Switch. Unfortunately, I really can't stand playing on PC!

Re: Demon's Souls PS5 Has Sold More Than 1.4 Million Copies to Date

PapaGlitch

Marvellous game. By far the games I've spent the must time on with my PS5 has been this, a replay of Bloodborne (finally doing the DLC) and Returnal, which I just made significant progress with after months of banging my head against the brick wall of biome 3. After I'm thinking of having a crack at Dark Souls 3 or Nioh.

All in all PS5 has turned into my console of choice for ball busting difficulty! Surprised my controller has lasted this long

Re: Netflix Buys Oxenfree Developer Night School Studio

PapaGlitch

@nessisonett perhaps, but on the other side of the coin the streaming wars have been a wonder for the TV production industry. I'm an editor and there is a glut of work out there for quality drama. So, it may not be perfect for consumers, but streaming wars could be boon for video game production and those who work in it. Hopefully it would equate to better working conditions as talent becomes more scarce

Re: What Is Going on with Sony's Supposed Acquisition of Bluepoint?

PapaGlitch

@Shstrick absolutely. I really don't know the details of how these deals come about, but I could envision a scenario where the image went up before the ink was dry, and MS swooped in with a better deal.

If that happened, how much of a kick in the nuts would it be if MS announced it last night? Even though I tend to sway towards Sony, the gall of such a movewoild make me laugh!

Re: Talking Point: Did PlayStation Showcase 2021 Deliver on the Hype?

PapaGlitch

I feel it was perhaps overhyped, which isn't completely Sony's fault. I would really have liked to have more of what Sony Studios are up to, off the top of my head only Polyphony, Sony Santa Monica and Insomniac (especially Insomniac) showed up. Still, suggests there is still a lot more to come.

Really wish we got some updates on PSPlus/Now though and really starting to think that Bluepoint acquisition was some sort of mass collective hallucination!

I'm in it mostly for the wow moments, and KOTOR and Wolverine certainly gave us that at least

Re: The Last of Us HBO TV Series Has Cast Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel's Daughter

PapaGlitch

@wiiware for me it's simple - if an actor is good for the role, I want them to play them.

Where does it end? Is it ok for Ellie's hair to be a different shade of brown? What about the placement of her freckles? And if she's a millimetre the wrong height the whole thing is a travesty.

No, of course not. It's only ever the race that matters in these conversations

Re: The Last of Us HBO TV Series Has Cast Nico Parker as Sarah, Joel's Daughter

PapaGlitch

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love gaming, but I despise gamers.

Casting directors base their decisions on performance, not race. Fanboys need to get over the fact that an adaptation is not a translation, it has new creative input, and if you want the story as it was then just play the damn game. It is clear that Pedro Pascal is a terrific actor who will be a great fit for Joel, and I can only assume they felt the same for this young actress.

Some of the comments just stink of the dreaded R-word, and it's incredibly unpleasant.

And @wiiware, the difference is that Black Panther and Blade are intrinsically linked to their race, so it would be ludricous to race swap them. They were stories largely written by white men who ramped up their race as their defining feature for largely commercial reasons

Re: PS Plus Version of Greedfall Won't Upgrade to PS5 Version for Free

PapaGlitch

@Angelus3K It would be interesting to see. I may be wrong, but I was lead to believe that subscription services such as Gamepass and Now pay devs/publishers perpetually for as long as it is on the service, where plus gives them a one off payment. So it may be a case of devs being fine to offer the upgrade if they continue to be paid for it... then again, that's just speculation, I may completely wrong about how these things are set up.

Regardless, it's yet another bad look for Sony regarding gamepass. I really feel they must have something planned to properly take on MS in the subscription space. As such as some of you may not like it, you can't deny that the industry have embraced the GP model and I don't see it going away anytime soon

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony Lie About PS5?

PapaGlitch

There is a difference between a game releasing for PS4, and being designed for PS4. I can imagine that PS5 was the lead console during development and, given the stock shortages, Sony asked some of their developers if they are able to get their games to run on PS4, and they found that they could. It would be naive to expect developers to be so familiar with a system this early on to be developing games so reliant on that system's unique features that it couldn't possibly be ported to a previous generation. In all honesty I feel the main thing fanboys are upset about is that they can't lord it over Xbox players, and that's just pretty pathetic

Re: Aloy Trends As Fans Discuss Horizon Forbidden West Hero

PapaGlitch

It's pathetic, plain and simple. Sony would be applauded for not pushing societal preconceptions of beauty on their protagonists. The discussion around Abby in TLOU reeked of this kind of misogyny and in all honesty I think the best antidote to it is just ignore it. These games sell massive amounts, and it gratifying to see that a quality product can sell without having to pander to an unpleasant minority

Re: Sony's Targeting More Than 50 Per Cent Market Share with PS5

PapaGlitch

I definitely get the sense that Sony have some big things planned, quite possibly the proposed counter to Gamepass. It seems that all three console makers are really hitting their stride right now, and I have to imagine if Sony are confident about hitting 50% market share they have something up their sleeve....

That said, Sony are always finding new ways to disappoint me so maybe I'm just talking bollocks

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Resident Evil Village?

PapaGlitch

I honestly don't get people saying it isn't scary. Sure, the majority isn't scary, but THAT section is honestly the most terrifying thing I have experienced since PT.

I will say that the tone of the game is completely mental - it goes through about 3 different genres in it's 10 hour runtime. However, I loved it, maybe more so for the insanity, and gave it a 9. Tied for Demon's Souls for my favourite next-gen experience so far

Re: Rumour: Sony Planning 'Counterpunch' to Xbox Game Pass

PapaGlitch

Seriously though, if a merging of Now and Plus is on the cards, they just need to scrap the Now name altogether - far too many people still think it is a streaming only service, and they name will always be in the shadow of Gamepass because of people's pre-existing opinions about it
