@Nepp67 Ah, fair enough. Tempting but probably shows more support if I buy the digital version domestically rather than import. Looks like there’s a digital deluxe as well so I’ll probably go for that.
I'd love to play this but playtime is at a premium lately. Hopefully if I avoid the padding and turn the difficulty down I can get through it briskly enough.
@beebs720 Totally get where you’re coming from. Ryan is kinda hard to relate to, especially compared to Shu Yoshida or Mark Cerny. Didn’t like Phil Spencer at first but after a while it clicked and I really like him as an ambassador/leader/personality for Xbox now. Seems pretty genuine.
As for Sony being silent, again, not too surprised. They really seem to be taking from Nintendo’s playbook and want to focus on the games that make their platform unique, which means less is more. Reckon we’ll have something major between late summer and the 1 year anniversary, so Sept-Nov sometime.
@Kidfried I think that’s maybe a little harsh. Have you ever been to gamescom? It’s enormous, and makes the likes of Tokyo Game Show look like a hobby fair at your local community centre. All of the big three have a huge presence there normally, but the thing is that it’s 99.99% an in person consumer show, the announcements aren’t really a big deal most of the time. So for that reason I totally get Sony skipping it, but when it’s physical I wouldn’t be too surprised to see them back again.
I'm definitely interested to check out the trailer purely from a technical standpoint - never seen that approach before and I'm intrigued to see how it all works. But as for the game itself, who knows. I hope it's good, but I really don't think the Kojima/Silent Hill theories have any credibility whatsoever.
I thought it was ok! It was nice to see some more of what Death Stranding will be offering, and I LOVE the look of Jett - can’t wait to pick that up. No interest in Deathloop though so I switched off for that bit.
What I think is bizarre is that everyone says E3 is dead but don’t seem to have a problem with Geoff Keighley’s event, which is just the same idea but digital first and poorly executed. Need to ditch that one too in all honesty.
Anyways, as for PlayStation - I reckon it’ll be closer to the PS5’s one year anniversary. September at the earliest, early November latest, with perhaps a few smaller or single title events between now and then like the Ratchet and Clank one.
Visually it looks lovely, nails the look of the series! Ultimately I’m not sure I’ll play the game just for the sake of replaying the plot, so hopefully there’ll be a little more to it.
Really hope the Plague Tale rumours are true, really itching to play that. Played Uncharted LL a few times already so will skip that, but might give WRC a go if that crops up.
The length of the game doesn't bother me in the slightest (in fact I think it's about right) so it's right up there with a 9 for me. Not genre-defining perfection/innovation but a spectacularly bombastic example that I loved every second of.
Looks very much in the vein of previous FromSoft games but that is 100% fine by me. From a technical standpoint it's not on Demon's Souls PS5 levels of quality, but the art direction and actual gameplay is absolutely top drawer as usual and ohmygosh it just looks incredible. Can't wait, glad it's not too far away!
Last year was the definition of hit and miss so I’m not getting carried away, but either way I’m glad the summer reveals are going to be starting from here and I’m looking forward to all the news over the next few weeks and months.
I'm really, really loving the focus on water gameplay they seem to be hinting at so far. Also hoping they might introduce a 60FPS PS5 patch at the same time...maybe?
Much better than last month for me - just keeping fingers and toes crossed that the new PS5 VR system will be backwards compatible when it launches as I'd love to give Squadrons a go with that.
Would love Sony to take a leaf out of Microsoft and Nintendo's books when it comes to controller colours. Black and grey might be nice if it's PS1 themed, but black and red sounds a bit dull.
High price and harsh difficulty makes this a no go for me at the moment, unfortunately. When it’s cheaper and they’ve added the new save (and maybe difficulty, maybe?) options I’ll take another look.
Horizon has been a big omission from my PS4 library for way too long, definitely looking forward to giving it a go at long last! Whether I have the time to finish it is another matter, but hey.
Personally I don’t think Sony has to hit the panic button just yet. It’s early days and the PS5 has made a great start. It’s just that this time around, so has MS and for me they are currently setting the standard in several areas. Which is good! It would be boring if the same companies were always in 1st/2nd/3rd, and I’m glad that MS are doing their best to make me want an Xbox this time around. I’ll pick one up eventually at this rate, whereas I had no reason to get an Xbox One.
My only “concern” really is that Sony will miss out on some amazing indie titles, as that’s where so much exciting work is being done and Xbox seems to be really chasing these devs for exclusives. But hey, if it keeps going that way then I’ll just grab a series x to go alongside my PS5.
The AAA big hitters will keep growing over time, I’ve no doubt of that. The MLB deal and Last of Us remake aren’t as big a deal as people are making out, IMO.
I was a bit nonplussed at first but the more I think about it, the more I really would love to revisit these games again. Bring it on. Also reaaaaally hoping the soundtrack gets a proper vinyl release this time around, but not too optimistic on that one.

Re: Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice Next-Gen Upgrade Skipping PS5
Can't believe how much controversy there is about this. Ninja Theory are literally a MS dev now. Sigh.
Re: Dodgeball Academia (PS4) - Punchy Sports RPG Is Top Class
Looks a lovely game, going on the wish list for sure! Great review.

@Nepp67 Ah, fair enough. Tempting but probably shows more support if I buy the digital version domestically rather than import. Looks like there’s a digital deluxe as well so I’ll probably go for that.
Re: Fatal Frame Producer Wants to Make a New Game in the Series
BTW, anyone know if it’s getting a physical release or just digital? Buying either way but want to preorder.
Re: Fatal Frame Producer Wants to Make a New Game in the Series
For more Project Zero I’ll buy as many copies as they need me to, easily one of my favourite series. Really, really hope this does well.
Re: Random: New Team ASOBI Recruits Get a Rad Custom PS5 Controller
Amazing, better looking than the official colour ways!
Re: Take A Short Hike on PS4 Later This Year
Short, sweet and an utter joy. I already own two copies and the vinyl soundtrack but a 4K version is very tempting!
Re: Gamescom Opening Night Live Will Be a Two-Hour Event Featuring This Year's Biggest Games
Can't remember the last time that Opening Night Live was worth watching, sadly. Hope this year will be different but I won't be holding my breath.
Re: Tales of Arise Is About as Long as Tales of Berseria, Says Producer
I'd love to play this but playtime is at a premium lately. Hopefully if I avoid the padding and turn the difficulty down I can get through it briskly enough.
Re: Ghost of Tsushima Dev Explains Why Japanese Lip Sync Is a PS5 Exclusive Feature in Director's Cut
Good grief there’s a lot of morons on the internet. Anyone calling this out as “BS” is nuts.
Whether the directors cut is justified as a paid upgrade or not is a completely separate issue.
Re: PS Plus August 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked by Sony
Poor month for my tastes but hopefully others enjoy it a bit more. Won’t be claiming any of these.
Re: Save an Arcade with the Adorable Button City, Coming Next Month to PS5
@sanderson72 Art style over horsepower any day of the week.
Re: After E3 2021 No Show, Sony's Seemingly Skipping Gamescom As Well
@Kidfried ah fair enough, in terms of news then yes absolutely spot on, very rarely see anything big announced

Re: Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania Is On a Roll In New Gameplay Trailer
After the disappointment of the last game, I'm super excited for them to make amends with this. Bring it on!

Re: PS Plus July 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
Really pleased with A Plague Tale, won’t touch the other two.

Re: How Closely Were You Watching E3 2021?
Quiz reminded me just how dull the majority of E3 was, but mercifully it took much less time to get through.
Re: Tales of Arise First Character Trailer Shows Masked Protagonist Alphen
Never played a Tales game before but it looks like I’m gonna have to get this one. Looks stunning!
Re: Chaos! Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin's Exclusive PS5 Demo Is Broken
Up their with Babylon Fall as one of the worst trailers from the E3/Summer of Gaming season yet…what were they thinking?

Re: Talking Point: Did Summer Game Fest: Kickoff Live Blow You Away?
If it wasn't for Elden Ring, it would have been pretty dull IMO.
Re: Remember Abandoned? A PS5 App Will Let You Watch Its Trailers in Realtime
Regardless of all the other discourse going on around this game, that's a really cool idea and personally I'm really excited to check it out!
Re: PS Plus Title Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown Goes Hilariously Retro With Legendary DLC Pack
Amazing!! Genuinely would have paid three times the asking price for this.

Re: PS Plus June 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced
Way better lineup than last month. Excited to try all of these!
Re: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Is a Gorgeous Reimagining, Gets a Worldwide Release
If every 2D RPG ever made could be re-done in this style, that'd be grand - thanks.
But seriously, wow. It looks perfect.

Re: Biomutant (PS4) - The Classic Case of What Could Have Been
Hate to say it but this is pretty much what I expected from the trailers. Cool concept, so-so execution.
Re: Dreamy PS5 Controller Colours Cosmic Red, Midnight Black Announced
The red one is nice, but still think the Xbox and Switch colour options are much nicer. Ah well, it's a start either way!
Re: Alternative PS5 Controller Colours Apparently En Route
Would love Sony to take a leaf out of Microsoft and Nintendo's books when it comes to controller colours. Black and grey might be nice if it's PS1 themed, but black and red sounds a bit dull.

Re: Hands On: Why You Should Be Hyped for Returnal, the Next Great PS5 Exclusive
@Voltan Ah, good to know, thanks. I'm sure I'll still get it, but might have to wait until I have a bit more time to commit properly.
Re: Hands On: Why You Should Be Hyped for Returnal, the Next Great PS5 Exclusive
Anyone know if there are multiple difficulty levels on this one? I'm very tempted to pick it up but time is precious these days.

Horizon has been a big omission from my PS4 library for way too long, definitely looking forward to giving it a go at long last! Whether I have the time to finish it is another matter, but hey.

"Wishful thinking" is putting it lightly!
Re: Poll: Do You Use These Two Forgotten PS5 Features?

Re: Virtua Fighter 5 Could Be Making a Comeback on PS4
No interest in a remaster of VF5 to be honest, I’d much rather have remasters of the original, VF2 or Fighters Megamix.
A new VF though? That I’d be interested in.
Re: Ratchet & Clank Boosted to 60 Frames-Per-Second on PS5 with New Patch
Welp, time to finally dust this off and remove it from the pile of shame!
Re: Fall Guys Season 4 Arrives Today, Adds New Levels, Squads Mode, Daily Challenges, More
The new update looks really cool, definitely going to give it a go. I'm useless at the game so the whole crown shards thing sounds good too!
Re: Life Is Strange Remastered Collection Adds Full Facial Mocap on PS5, PS4
I was a bit nonplussed at first but the more I think about it, the more I really would love to revisit these games again. Bring it on. Also reaaaaally hoping the soundtrack gets a proper vinyl release this time around, but not too optimistic on that one.
