@carlos82 Yeah but a PC doesn't need to be replaced wholesale every generation. You could spend $300 on a new GPU every six years and constantly be way ahead of console performance... Not to mention all your games come over without the need to buy remasters. I think $500 is the max most are going to be willing to pay for a closed-ecosystem platform like PlayStation.
@Yogsoggoth I played for 300 hours and wanted to keep going (but had to move on to other games). Different strokes, I guess. I just fell in love with the world and exploring every little nook and cranny. It was a different kind of rewarding when compared to the average "check list"-style open world in my opinion.
@Rob_230 I exactly agree with you. The first few scenes are amazing storytelling. The clunky repetitive stealth gameplay that follows I could take or leave but mostly leave. I'm really hoping the second game has more gameplay variety and doesn't lean too heavily on the quality of its cinematics.
Sweet. Less exclusives make for a better world IMO. For those not in the know, this is made by the same team as the Ni No Kuni games, though they skew a bit younger thematically.
It bothers me that the sword on his back doesn't move when he runs.
But yeah clones are not worth getting this worked up over.
@Lando_ The sidequests were easily the least impressive part of BotW... but i'd be more interested if this game could pull off any semblance of the still-peerless open world exploration aspect.
@ShogunRok One of the defining moments of maturity in my life was playing The Last of Us and considering it to be like a 7 or 8 at best... and just having to come to grips with the fact that people have different opinions.
In fact since then I've just stopped paying attention to review scores altogether and started focusing on the text of the reviews.
Which for TLOU always goes something like "the gameplay is pretty derivative and the stealth missions en masse can get really repetitive... but it'd make a great movie! 10/10"
Sounds like Naughty Dog fans will love it then. BAZINGA!
@TheArt For the moment, BOTW is basically incomparable. Gods and Monsters might look the part, but I highly doubt anybody involved in AC Odyssey understands what made Zelda truly great.
@Acquiescence Or a sign that Sony's success has caused their head to migrate so far up their butt that they think they can get away with going solo. Almost like they think they're too good to be at E3 or something.
Sony and Nintendo were the only ones who actually cared about showing products in an exciting and ACCURATE way. Now Nintendo alone has to bring excitement to E3, and while they do a good job, more hype is always better. Miss you Sony
It's not really a rumor... you can't create a SteamDB entry for a product that doesn't exist (well, not without some serious help by Valve, but why Gearbox would want to intentionally psyche people out like this is beyond me)
So what if you plug in a controller to get grouped with controller people, but switch to mouse and keyboard mid-game? I guess the solution would be for the game to disable M/K once you've started the game with a controller, but it still seems weird.
Not that I really care about CoD multiplayer anymore
I didn't dislike the Vita, but I felt like there were few games I could play for very long without my hands cramping up bad.
Remote play was an awesome feature though. It was cool to be able to play Borderlands online with my friends while I was across town from my PS4 (which was the machine actually running the game).
@Gatatog To be fair, they are usually exceedingly well crafted games. I mean they'd almost have to be with the amount of money and staff that Activision throws at them!
Looking forward to the review, but couldn't care less about the game. Tomb Raider and Red Dead will keep me plenty busy till the end of the year, methinks.
@rjejr Keep in mind that you have the exact same state of mind that people had back in the early 2000s. I don't know if you remember, but in the pre-iPhone days literally everyone was saying that HD screens in portable devices were excessive and unnecessary. But tech improves and tends to change minds
@rjejr If you told me back in the GBA days that someday we'd have a portable game system capable of playing games at 720p, I would have laughed you out of the room, lol
@kyleforrester87 Xenoblade 2 was some crazy anomaly in video game music. Honestly has some of the best JRPG tracks in recent memory, much stronger than even the very servicable Xenoblade 1. That Gormott overworld theme man
@Tasuki According to the achievements, more people complete the story mode in most CoD games than reach Prestige 1 in multiplayer, which does not take that long to do. Just sayin.
Unless your original comment was facetious, in which case feel free to post this on r/whooosh
...Yeah, problem is, a big current-gen Monster Hunter would have an incredibly small profit margin compared to the probably very big one they achieved by focusing on low-end systems like the PSP and the 3DS. That and the fact that the PS4 has only sold ~5 million units over in the franchise's biggest territory doesn't exactly spell money for Capcom.
Problem with the Vita 2 is, what chipset would Sony use? The Switch is already using just about the best that exists for devices of that size, and graphics would be about the only advantage they'd be able to get seeing as how we know Sony wouldn't make GAMES for the damn thing. They'd have to dig deep in their pockets and beg AMD to step up
@get2sammyb I sincerely hope the few of us left who enjoy traditional gaming on the go are enough to sustain the handheld market for a while longer. I simply couldn't go back to playing Angry Birds on the bus now that something like Breath of the Wild is an option too.
@get2sammyb I guess it depends what you mean by "top of the line" PCs. Do you mean PCs exclusively using the very best hardware available? Because not very many people have such PCs, even gaming enthusiasts, so using that as an argument is a little strange. The Scorpio's specs are extremely, realistically comparable to modern, current, already-out high-end gaming PCs. :/
@AFCC I have a PS4 and I'm choosing Zelda over this. I mean, it looks great, and I'll play it when it gets discounted later this year, but Zelda is Zelda You have to go aaaaaall the way back to 1987 to find a mainline Zelda game with a Metacritic score less than Horizon's. The two franchises are incomparable.
Arguably a game that doesn't really need it, being a pseudo-turn-based-RPG. Half of me wishes they'd save the compute power, stick with a solid 30fps and just make it as pretty as possible.
Seriously though, the Capture the Rooster mode is surprisingly well done. Biggest issue I have is nobody wants to attack, because obviously if everyone just defends then at the very least the game will draw. Apart from that I love the skins too
So I am getting Breath of the Wild, but I'm also picking this up as soon as I can. I really hope it's as good as it looks. It's interesting, these are both huge open world games from companies that haven't really made anything like that before.

Re: Hands On: This Is How Cyberpunk 2077 Runs on PS5, PS4 Pro, and PS4
Kinda sad that it's "clearly a PS4 game" and yet it can't do 4K60 on PS5. What are we paying $500 for again?

Re: Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 Are Almost Certainly PS5 Games
I think they'll definitely come out on current gen hardware as well. Blizz wants that tasty install base.

What I don't get is why the heck would they include so much marketing info in an email to the marketing team? It just doesn't add up, Ramsay

Re: Ditching Handhelds Was the Key to Monster Hunter World's Massive Success
They said the exact opposite thing back when MH4 was in development. I don't think these guys have a firm grasp on why MHW took off.

As a Switch owner and NMH fan, I gotta say Travis Strikes Again felt a lot like a cash grab to me. I hope NMH3 is a little more inspired.

Re: Hands On: A Complete Package at Launch, The Division 2 Puts Its Looter Shooter Competition to Shame

Um, ten years at least. Borderlands came out in 2009. But you could argue the concept of a loot-em-up began as early as Diablo.

Randy Pitchford has been teasing the heck out of Borderlands 3. It has to be revealed SOMETIME, why not Thursday?

@Flaming_Kaiser Now you're just making stuff up. Nintendo doesn't just delete your saves when your subscription ends.

Uh, if it's easy enough for NINTENDO of all companies to figure it out, I don't think Sony would have any trouble. Nice try though, Shawn.
