Re: Rumour: Oblivion PS5 Remake Releasing Next Month Appears More and More Likely

batosaims

@pyrrhic_victory Yeah I'm gonna be honest, I have a feeling that if Sony bought Bethesda and making all of their games exclusive you'd be singing a different tune, I recall recently people cheerleading Sony potentially buying From Soft but could afford 10% of the company.

I have no idea why anyone is still bitter about this? All of these acquisitions have only benefited Playstation gamers because not only did Microsoft go full multiplat, they're footing the bill for all the game development and because of the "trillion dollar corporation" you referred to the games are not only coming out faster and more polished but Playstation gamers haven't lost anything, not only did Doom, Tony Hawk, Crash and Elder Scrolls not go exclusive but franchises that were never on Playstation like Forza Horizon and Age of Mythology made their way over too

TLDR: people being bitter over something that's only benefited them

Not surprised with the early access, this is something Microsoft has been doing and apparently its been working since they keep doing it

me? I'll just wait a few days

Also that's now what? 10 games from MS this year? I imagine that if they kept everything except COD exclusive (or at least Xbox/PC) that would have been a disaster for Sony....having Doom, Tony Hawk, Ninja Gaiden and Outer Worlds 2 (also the Gears and Oblivion remasters) then South Midnight and Avowed (both I expect to be on PS5 this year) and Indiana Jones would have absolutely shifted sales toward Xbox but they decided to throw in the towel and go full 3rd party right as they got their ducks in a row.

I assume Satya really laid down the law and told Phil that he really needs to start delivering results, on the plus side for them at least they'll make their $80B back sooner rather than later since PS5 gamers tend to actually buy games where Xbox gamers have been conditioned to play them on Game Pass.....I'm sure the studios are ecstatic now that people will actually buy their games and they won't miss sales targets anymore. The Crash N Sane Trilogy sold 20M+ copies, you'd be lucky to get 1/4th of that solely on Xbox. There is just no world where this is all sustainable on Xbox smaller install base where no one buys games.

@DennisReynolds Now we just need Phil to green light Guitar Hero and we're all set

Re: Xbox's Fable Could Launch Day One on PS5

Looks like the combat is a bit slower paced like The Witcher 3, good as long as its smooth and responsive and has depth to it, I really want to see how choices impact the world since that was huge part of Fable is being who you want to be. Also we need to be able to be landlords again and catch STD's, have children, sacrifice your spouse etc. This is what made Fable so unique so I hope its here too.

Its a good thing Microsoft is putting their games on Playstation, their quality has improved significantly with Indiana Jones having an 87 OpenCritic and Avowed an 82 despite the Twitter hate echo chamber

I expect Outer Worlds 2, Doom to both be great and South of Midnight looks solid. I'm fine with the multiplat strategy as long as the games continue to be quality

"Also half a dozen outsource studios are listed, ones that commonly work with Sony and have direct relations with them, based all around the world, and Arrowhead would never have the resources or connections for this kind of support."

Yeah I looked at those studios and pretty much all of them have worked on a ton of non Sony titles (surprisingly several of which even worked on Suicide Squad) so I don't know what you mean by "direct relationship" because any of these studios would work for any company if they're willing to throw them the bag,

None of these companies are "BFFs" with Sony and would gladly work for EA or WB or any other publisher, there are no "connections" or special relationship, its Sony paying them for work, and even then there are literally hundreds if not thousands of support studios/developers out there lmao you act like these are some mythic support developers that only Sony has access to....yeah they had no issue working Suicide Squad though 😂

This is like trying to say Microsoft has a special relationship/connections with Splash Damage or People can Fly....they don't...they just pay them for work...you can say they have a good "business relationship" but that basically comes down MS (or Sony or anyone else) paying them

I think you have some really strange hero worship (in regards to Sony) do you know why Visual Arts helps support games? Because they're employees who get paid to do so, if certain employees (like Visual Arts) are going to assist on a game its because it's their job and if they don't they get fired.

There is no company (including MS/Sony/Nintendo) who do things for altruistic purposes. When it comes down to it, games get made because someone is footing the bill for it. I give Sony 100% credit for footing the bill for Helldivers 2, Returnal, Stellar Blade and that's all they need to do, same exact thing with Microsoft/Nintendo. I give the actual developers credit for actually making the game.

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

@Oram77 Fun fact: He did, he worked on more games than Hermen and Jim did lol

But obviously he doesn't now but that's not his job just it wasn't Jims jobs either or Hermens now, the studios are the ones who cook and its Microsoft/Sony job to give them what they need. Both do this and both market their games, Sony marketed Stellar Blade well and Microsoft gave both Indy and Doom solo segments at developer directs.

As long as Sony and Microsoft are signing the checks and giving the studios what they need that's all they have to do.

Re: Xbox to Put PS5 Logos in Future Showcases, Says Phil Spencer

batosaims

@ChrisDeku Yeah? Well that's nice and all but that isn't enough to stop Sony from chasing live service slop to get that additional revenue, Concord is a product of Sony wanting that additional revenue, Bungie was a desperate buy and instead of making games they cancelled Factions (but somehow greenlit Concord which is the hilarious part)

Only Sony are the only ones who actively said remasters are needed to fund future games per Shu on Kinda Funny, I've never seen Nintendo, Microsoft, EA or anyone else say remasters are "needed" to fund future games so either

-A (likely scenario) Sony games aren't pulling in enough profit/revenue to fund new games

or

-B (also likely) games are having overbloated budgets specifically Spider-man 2 costing $300M despite it having re-used assets AND still coming in underpolished and undercooked

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

batosaims

@ChrisDeku We have actual developers crediting Microsoft where we have nothing for Sony, because Sony isn't a tech company and don't have much to offer where Microsoft has actual engineers and tools (Azure for Flight Sim or the ATG) what's Sony going to do contribute to a studio or a game? They have a port studio with Nixess (who actually does good work) and the Visual Arts Group (who did nothing for Helldivers 2 o r Returnal via the credits)

I'll what the actual developers say, sorry

Maybe Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst should have taken some coding classes and went down to the studios to help make the games themselves 😂

Re: Xbox to Put PS5 Logos in Future Showcases, Says Phil Spencer

batosaims

@ChrisDeku These were all bundled games, ironically TLOU2 wasn't bundled and took over 2 years to sell 10M which wouldn't be an issue if the game didn't take 2000+ people and 14 studios to make, then Factions was scrapped so there was no monetization or additional revenue, Ghost of Tsushima was also a game that wasn't bundled and took 4 years to sell 13M

Helldivers 2 is an expensvie premium game? Its a $40 game and I got it on Green Man gaming for $24 bucks. I bought a PS4 Pro in 2019 which came with Horizon, Spider Man and God of War which are factored into the sales and I bought Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition again for $12 ....essentially I paid $12 for 2 copies and 2 of those 20M sales

Playstation registers a 3B operating profit out of 31B revenue which is less than 10% and that's because of 3rd party sales and getting their 30% cut, their own games don't make money which Shu himself pretty much confirmed.

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

batosaims

@ChrisDeku I looked at the credits for Helldivers 2, Returnal, Sackboy and Sony involvement outside of finance and marketing in those games was nigh non existent so I'm not counting those

List of games 80+ from Microsoft this gen where they were directly involved (and actually owned the studios)

Halo Infinite
Psychonauts 2 (confirmed by DF)
Age of Empires 4
Age of Mythology
Grounded
Pentiment
Hi Fi Rush
Indiana Jones
Forza Horizon 5
Forza Motorsport 2023
Avowed
Starfield
Black Ops 6 (Technical assistance confirmed by Matt Scronce who is the associate director at Treyarch)

They also released a ton of updates and expansions (Sea of Thieves and Grounded, Forza Horizon 5, Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, AOE2, AOE4 and Mythology) and have about 5 more coming out this year (Fable, Outer Worlds 2, Doom Dark Age, South Midnight, new COD) vs the 2 Sony have coming out this year

Which games you like more is irrelevant, that's subjective, their content outtput is absolutely blowing Sony out of the water and this is mostly without ABK, there's the rumored Tony Hawk 3+4 remakes, the Oblivion remake potentially coming out.

Yeah this is obviously because Microsoft purchased 2 publishers but now they're responsible for maintaining and footing the bill for all the development of these games, so objectively speaking you're wrong
