They're now reporting that 1/3 of the purchase price is going to the employees in the form a retention incentive program. Sounds more like Sony paid a fair price and wanted to keep the talented employees there. I applaud that.
Honestly, if Sony can come up with a similar Gamepass where you get all the new games and such for a monthly fee, they will wipe MS out with money.
I wouldn't mind seeing MS Gamepass on PS just because we gamers could access any MS exclusives as well, but let's be honest, Sony has the best lineup of games, so they shouldn't feel like allowing Gamepass will eat into their profits. This might also cause MS to exit the console market allowing for PC and PS only since you can do everything on both.
How many here buy both consoles to play all the games anyway? I personally don't anymore because Xbox/PS are the same with minor differences, and PS has beaten them the last 3 generations, so I've been sticking with PS with no regrets. There are literally no Xbox games I'm interested in atm, but that might change when Elder Scrolls 6 releases.
The more I've thought about the MS/Activision deal, the more I've realized that this will not impact Sony near as much as it seemed at first. MS is going to spend $70 B for a few major titles. CoD is the biggest console title amongst the company on the console, and Sony had contracts with Activision for this entire new-gen lifecycle. What else did they get? Mostly PC games which don't affect Sony in the slightest. The only other big games that potentially are going exclusive at some point are Diablo and Overwatch. I doubt they will do that, especially if Sony starts acquiring major publishers as well, such as EA. I think right now, Sony just needs to keep doing what they're doing, but an announcement for the new subscription service would be welcomed. I've never cared for gamepass or psNow, but we'll see what they release. I used to think playing older games would be fun, but when I had the ability to do so on the PS3, I didn't play a single PS1/2 game like I thought I would. Backward compatibility is just not important, IMO.
Sony still has the best lineup of RPG/story-driven games. MS isn't improving in that arena at all. Halo is crap, and they have nothing else besides the upcoming Elder Scrolls 6. That doesn't even come close to GoW, Uncharted, Spider-Man, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank, and the many other amazing games Sony has pumped out since releasing the PS5.

It's no $70B though.

Re: Microsoft Bigwig 'Trusts' PlayStation Not to Damage Gaming Industry, Cautions Against Tech Giants
@hoffa007 Came to say the same thing! This is rich coming from a company aiming to ruin the gaming community with their anti-competition purchases.
Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Finally Lands on PS5, PS4 in April
I was concerned that including all 9 movies would make it seem shorter or empty, but this looks complete and a blast! Can't wait to get it!
Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4
@kyleforrester87 I don't think this is the same. It's a megalogiant squashing competition. Hardly a good thing.
