@Jazzer94 I think both Sony and Nintendo have a chance at the top spot, but Nintendo is still sitting pretty on top of those 8th Generation 3DS sales numbers. This year Sony squeezed by, but overall this generation the 3DS is killing it, even against just its own competitor, the Vita. I wish Sony didn't let the Vita fall so far. Even Nintendo realized their mistakes with the Wii U and are actively trying to resuscitate it.
The only reason I would get this is if the price is very low because the PS4 has a subscription fee. That or a Kingdom Hearts game lands on one of them in the near future, that the only reason I buy Sony consoles, anyways.
@JaxonH The only thing I ever liked from Ubisoft was the original Prince of Persia trilogy. IMO, AC was just a bad knock-off of Prince of Persia. I hope W_D is something new and different, I don't want it to be a AC knock-off. I am going to wait to get W_D because I am getting MK8 first.
@Gamer83 @rykkchii I know how you guys feel. Nintendo had to do the same for 2013, the difference was of course that Nintendo is not the industry darling nor was the Wii U being supported to the extent in the first year (or at launch) that Sony's PS4 was/is now. Nintendo had massive droughts because of the abandonment they suffered throughout 2013, so when they had to delay their games it really hurt them. Nintendo was defecated on for nearly a year by the many companies that cut support with games they said were going to be on the Wii U (like Bioshock Infinite and Battlefield).
My only advice is to cut Sony some slack, they don't want to delay games but they are doing what they have to do to ensure the quality of their games. Delays happen to the best of them, but just remember: underneath all of the console wars are just three companies trying to provide their fans with the best, highest quality, and most unique experiences they can through their games. Also, Sony is spending a pretty penny to ensure third party releases (something Microsoft does as well, but Nintendo basically refuses to do for multiplatform games), so they at least deserve some recognition for that.
I wasn't all that interested in The Order anyways. KH3 is the only reason I will get a PS4. That will probably be 2016-2018, based on how fast SE is at making GOOD games...
@BornOfEvil Sorry. Once DBZ 1 vs. 1 fights became split screen I couldn't get into it anymore. Budokai 2 is my favorite because of Tiencha's"Wolf Fang Volleyball Fist" and because of Gokule. Budokai 3 was funny because SS4Gogeta and Broly were waaaay to strong on that game. Anyways, split screen killed it for me. Either put it on a handheld or have gamepad/smartglass/Vita support to avoid splitscreen, or I will have to skip another DBZ title...
@iSolipsistJudas NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Split screen should only be for open world games, IMO, not fighting games. Of course, I can see why some people like it, but split screen is what ruined the tenkaichi games for me.
I was excited for this game... until I played Arkham City. I didn't like how monotonous the gameplay was. All of Batman's attacks seemed like QTE to me. I hope this one is better but I will keep my hopes pretty low. Graphics don't sway me at all, so I don't think I will pick this one up. I'm still on the fence about the PS4 right now and right now KH3 and that DBZ game are what I am looking for. Hopefully the DBZ game doesn't suck, like every DBZ game since after Budokai 3, my opinion of course.
@SuperSilverback YES. Anything less would suck. Battle of the Z made that mistake... It's Budokai or nothing. Also, NO TENKAICHI. I don't want split screen fights.
@Demi_God The loss is for the company as a whole. The profit is for the PlayStation division, at least that's what I understand. They need more than just the PlayStation division to make a profit to offset that company loss.
I'm just waiting for KH3, I couldn't care less about the rest of the PS4 games... I know it sounds harsh, but Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Kingdom Hearts, Mario Kart, and X(enoblade sequel) are the only games in my sights as of now.
@Gamer83 @JaxonH I hope they keep it like Revelations was while on the ship, the scarce ammunition, scary atmosphere, etc. I hope they can get it right this time around.
@thedevilsjester Point taken. My least favorite types of games are first person perspective games (FPS are the worst, IMO). I see the VR headsets having very limited uses, as well, maybe just for FPS Horror, and exploration games?
@BornOfEvil Yeah, but Sony brought that on themselves. Sony shot themselves in the foot with the PS3 ($1000+ console for $600 was a bad idea, any way you slice it). The Vita needs more support, and less expensive proprietary memory to take off. Nintendo was laughed at for the DS, Wii, 3DS, and now Wii U. Each time they proved the naysayers wrong (not yet for the Wii U). Even now that the 3DS is successful, sites are STILL reporting on how it is not outpacing the DS. Nintendo consoles have been ragged on since the 90's. Sony fell on hard times because they thought taking heavy losses was a good idea.
@thedevilsjester I hate to say it, but I agree with him to. I think if the VR headset was the PS4's gamepad or kinect 2.0 (bundled for better or worse) then it would be a different story. If they had PSR (Play Station Reality) or something like that as the name and the PS4 console as the base with the VR headset, then it would probably catch on a lot better. Adding it in as a peripheral is not a good way to start a new trend in video games. Now it is doomed to live the life of the PS Move. Heck, Sony could have waited until 2014 for the PS4, with how awful the XB1 and Wii U are doing now XD. JK, but, if Sony wanted to bundle the VR headset with the PS4, they probaly should have done just that.
@rastamadeus It's part of the hypocrisy that no one acknowledges that much. Quite sad that it's normal to beat up on Nintendo, but wrong for Sony or Microsoft. When everyone predicts doom and gloom for Sony or Microsoft, and dogs out every product they release for two straight generations, THEN they will understand. Until then, they are just hypocrites.
On a happier note: Pachter predicts it is a bad idea. That means it is doomed for widespread success. XD
@kensredemption Difference is that the gamepad is a part of the Wii U, not an accessory. If Sony bundled it in, then it would be up there with the gamepad and Kinect 2.0, but it's not. I highly doubt that it will be affordable either, especially if Sony learned their lesson off of the heavy losses they took off of the PS3.
@rastamadeus But instead we keep getting reviewers and some players trying to act like it's worth it. The examiner guy was a bit harsh, but a lot of people in the comments were not trying to understand what he meant. They had the "It's whatever hype game, no one can insult it" mentalty. People had a similar reaction to the Gamespot review of GTAV, even though that was a fully fleshed out game. Releasing it as a paid demo for $10 tops would be okay, this should not be accepted. Even better, this should have been their playable demo for The Phantom Pain at E3 or some other event, this seems like a waste of money to me. I care not for graphics, just content.
Best case scenario: people start buying more video games and consoles from hype. Worst case scenario: it could make video games a laughing stock, thanks to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg being behind the movie. I hope they at least take the subject seriously, which is HIGHLY doubtful with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg anywhere near them.
@Toddler_Naruto I do want to play them in HD I am jus holdin out for KH3 because I am hopeful that SE puts the HD collections on and KH3 on PS4/Wii U (I see how they love Definitive Editions). I will be getting a PS3 later when the price is even lower because of the collection they don't make the generation leap.
I did not get a PS3 because I was only following a few games series, mainly Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon. I figured I would buy the consoles when the games I want come out but KH3 has yet to be dropped on a console, which saddens me. I was just never one for buying games for graphics over gameplay, so I never really looked into many new games over the last 10 years. The only new series I picked up on the way was Monster Hunter, so I want to go back and get the older ones on PS2,PS3, and PSP, as well.
@Toddler_Naruto The only reason I will buy a new system is if it will have a game that is a continuation of a series I follow. If KH3 was on the PS3 I would have one by now. I am just diligently waiting for KH3 before I snap up a PS4.
@rjejr I'm pretty sure it can play digital PSP games but I never embraced the digital age, so all of my PSP games are physical... I like to hold my disks and cartridges. The Wii U needs to be marketed and it needs those games that we were teased with and still don't have (I want X so much, and I can't resist Mario Kart no matter how hard I try). I do know that both the Vita and the U are putting up some very good games, so when I finally get my holy quartet of gaming awesomeness (PS Vita, PS4, 3DS, Wii U) I won't see daylight for quite a while. I hope all of the consoles do well in sales, games, and support. I'd hat to see sales as low as the Gamecube and Xbox. They all just need to find their audience.
@RyoHazuki I would gladly buy a PS Vita as a phone. That would be awesome. It would be more awesome if I could put any plan on it, instead of just AT&T.
@rjejr I wish for an alternate universe where it has an SD card slot and an optional model with backwards compatibility. My PSP is trying to keel over on me, and I would rather upgrade to the Vita, but I NEED my Kingdom Hearts.
I wish they would put some of that effort, and money, into making the Vita hot commodity, but I guess they have to supplement your other products, to make money, to save, or axe, another.
@Savino I believe that would but temporary fix, that would hurt in the long run, but only if they were selling their console for profit. If they don't make a profit off of the console early, or take a super loss with the PS3, then that would be an option, but I am hoping Sony is not dumb enough to screw themselves over again. They think they are like Microsoft, but they are not. They need to wise up before it is to late.
Edit: Trying to please the meat-headed (console) graphics whores is what got them in this mess from the PS3. Hopefully they don't blow exorbitant amounts of money on games, like what they blew on movies like White House Down, with little to no profit made.
Re: Edit: I am interested to see if they use the funds from PS Plus to supplement the company and get back on their feet, or if they risk it all on the video bonus question, err... I mean trying to buy exclusives with it like Microsoft. I mean come on, how esle would the Xbox division take a $2 billion loss in, while they siphon money from their fans from memberships? Smells like money-hatting, which Microsoft can afford, but Sony can't, and should not try.
@Gamer83 I know it is a matter of preference, but there are quite few Wii U games that are worth playing to me. I know that if I did just get the Wii U I would be perfectly happy because the only game I want from the other two systems is KH3, and I can wait for that (I waited 3 years until I finally played the spin offs, I can wait a little longer seeing as I have been waiting almost 10 years for KH3 to even be properly announced). Sony lost me when they joined in the FPS contest with Microsoft, to see who could launch the prettiest FPS Faster. Even when it wasn't FPS it was all about graphics which, without great gameplay, is just a game full of pretty pictures.
@charlesnarles I know we don't know wher their money goes specifically, bu with Microsoft losing $2 billion annually on the XBOX division with their subscription fees, I sincerely doubt that money is put into the XBOX division. As for Sony, with all of the DLC that they and Microsoft buy as well a exclusives, Sony is trying to spend like Microsoft, which is a mistake. Sony is slowly killing itself trying to out spend Microsoft and I am afraid they won't stop until it is too late.
@Gamer83 Yeah, except people don't care about consumer-friendly anymore. One year ago, I repeat ONE, I heard two fans, one Sony one Microsoft, talk about games and such. The Sony fan was gloating about the free online on PS3. Now that same guy is trying to defend the mandatory subscription for the PS4. I said that to say this: it looks as if Sony fanboys, NOT Sony fans, are the ones starting subscription fee arguments and prettier graphics arguments. I am a Nintendo fan and a Sony fan, but I hate it when fanboys, and trolls, try to dog out one company, usually Nintendo, then the company they support has some of the most anti-consumerist policies imaginable as well as greedy subscription fees seeing as the money most likely goes to money-hatting and is not actually invested in the games or the companies. How else would Sony and Microsoft lose massive amounts of money yearly, even after they put in subscription fees?
@3Above alot of people still complain about the one analog stick. I don't mind because the touch screen makes up for in MH3U and Kid Icarus, for me at least.
@Seegaramcast They are trying to compete with Microsoft while copying Nintendo, instead of doing their own thing. That's their biggest problem. They need to make their own image instead of piggy-backing off of the success of something of their rivals. Sony did not need to make online play mandatory, but, they need more money for money-hatting to compete with Microsoft. They did not need a Mario Kart knock-off or a Super Smash Bros. knock-off, but, they wanted to copy off of Nintendo. Vita should be treated as a handheld of its own but, again, they felt the need to copy off of Nintendo. I want them to get back to their greatness, not lie to my face and say that the PS4+Vita will kill the Wii U whilst simultaneously trying to out spend Microsoft on third party support.
Sony has the power and potential to pull through too they just need to stop trying to compete with Microsoft and get back to what their fans love them for, great games.
That could work (not!), or, and I'm jist spit-balling here, actual third parites could expand to the Wii U and stop lying about install base and power. PS360 having a cross generation multiplatform game that Wii U does not have makes no sense when: A: at the time Nintendo needed their help the most, they complained about a missing install base and lack of audience, now that Nintendo put out some of their own games their new complaint is that all Nintendo fans want are Nintendo games (not realizing that that is all we get when we get shafted oit of third party support), and B: even though the Wii U will be overtaken by the PS4, at the time third party support was needed and now the Wii U has the highest 8th generation console count becaise of it's year head start.
The saddest part is that I will get a PS4, but turd party games are not even being considered by me as they are mostly just crappy yearly franchises and/or FPS games, which I dislike. It is not that we Nintendo fans don't like third party support, trust me we love it, but we are akin to variety, eack console gets 1-2 of a specific genre as to not undermine the value of similar titles, whilst thord parties are falling over themselves to make FPS games 6-7 at a time per console per console cycle. It is embarassing.
Seriously, the Vita has been flatlining for twice as long a the Wii U, yet it got most of the third party support missing from the Wii U. If third parties supported Nintendo, like they had pledged to, the Wii U would mot be in dire straits. I think Sony should have held back on the PS4 to rescue the Vita, I mean it will be pretty sad for the little guy when PS4 passes it in sales.
@JaxonH I am actually hoping that the 3DS is put on the backburner so they can focus on the Wii U this year, as well. Sony's job will be a little harder building up two systems, but, I think they still have hope with the Vita, especially if they take the route Capcom did with MH3U cross playing with 3DS and Wii U. I love that idea, and it is my main drive for getting a Wii U.
It makes me sad that Nintendo and Sony are both struggling to get their consoles to latch on in the market. It makes me think of how, if Nintendo wasn't so controlling and oppressive in the 1990's, Nintendo and Sony's partnership would be now. I think that their libraries of games target different markets, though they can overlap, and they would fit well together. I mean Sony and Nintendo vs. Microsoft and Sega very well could have happened. Both partnerships would have been stellar. I understand what Nintendo's intentions were, but I don't think they will ever truly be forgiven by companies like Sony and Square Enix.
@JaxonH I feel that way, too. I am jumping back into home consoles, now that I have a newfound love for games like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil and the promise of franchises I thought lost in the sea of FPS, like Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars: Battlefront. Coupling those with exclusives I like, like Pokemon, Mario Kart, and Rachet and Clank, and it is a given that I can't just stick to one company. I look forward to trying out some new games as well and I may pick up a PS3 for the exclusives that I missed, also. I just got a Wii but I can upgrade to the Wii U with the other underrated feature I enjoy, backwards compatibility.
@JaxonH I'm hoping they both pick up in sales also.
I plan on getting a Wii U and a Vita to go along with my 3DS, and maybe a PS4 if it gets them games I wan that are not on the Wii U. I mainly play handhelds, so the off tv play feature is my main reason for wanting a Wii U. I would consider a PS4 first, but paid online is a deal breaker for me this generation, as I am not made of money sadly. If microsoft came out with a handheld, withfree online like the others, tha would be cool too, but I probably won't get an xbox because of the paid online as well.
@darkhairwarrior Both for completely different games, and it sucks that Vita barely has more total sales than Wii U even though it has been out twice as long.

Re: A 'Well-Known DRM Solution' May Be Coming to Your PlayStation Multimedia Apps
Re: A 'Well-Known DRM Solution' May Be Coming to Your PlayStation Multimedia Apps
Re: A 'Well-Known DRM Solution' May Be Coming to Your PlayStation Multimedia Apps
Re: PS Vita Will Die a Slow and Painful Death, Says Michael Pachter
@3Above alot of people still complain about the one analog stick. I don't mind because the touch screen makes up for in MH3U and Kid Icarus, for me at least.
Re: PS Vita Will Die a Slow and Painful Death, Says Michael Pachter
Re: PS Vita Will Die a Slow and Painful Death, Says Michael Pachter
@Savino I was about to say the same thing.
Sony has the power and potential to pull through too they just need to stop trying to compete with Microsoft and get back to what their fans love them for, great games.
Re: Pachter: Nintendo Should Publish Its Games on the PS4
That could work (not!), or, and I'm jist spit-balling here, actual third parites could expand to the Wii U and stop lying about install base and power. PS360 having a cross generation multiplatform game that Wii U does not have makes no sense when:
A: at the time Nintendo needed their help the most, they complained about a missing install base and lack of audience, now that Nintendo put out some of their own games their new complaint is that all Nintendo fans want are Nintendo games (not realizing that that is all we get when we get shafted oit of third party support), and
B: even though the Wii U will be overtaken by the PS4, at the time third party support was needed and now the Wii U has the highest 8th generation console count becaise of it's year head start.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
@JaxonH I am actually hoping that the 3DS is put on the backburner so they can focus on the Wii U this year, as well. Sony's job will be a little harder building up two systems, but, I think they still have hope with the Vita, especially if they take the route Capcom did with MH3U cross playing with 3DS and Wii U. I love that idea, and it is my main drive for getting a Wii U.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
Think about it: PS4 and 3DS could have been under the same roof. That would make my life easier.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
It makes me sad that Nintendo and Sony are both struggling to get their consoles to latch on in the market.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
@JaxonH I feel that way, too.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
@JaxonH I'm hoping they both pick up in sales also.
Re: So, the PlayStation Vita Outsold the Wii U in the UK Last Year
@darkhairwarrior Both for completely different games, and it sucks that Vita barely has more total sales than Wii U even though it has been out twice as long.
