Yeah, that 'set in Europe' clause is a bit silly. In Australia we have a similar caveat when it comes to film funding and - through some relatives who work in the industry - I've seen how stifling it can be. I think I read somewhere that Mike Bithell's stealth game Volume would pass the "cultural test", though, so it sounds like the laws are pretty reasonable.
@ShogunRok Honestly, I'm not brave enough to go back and watch it - I know I'll be disappointed. You're right, though, the abridged version is still honestly one of the funniest things on the internet
Full disclosure: The studio making this game is from my hometown of Brisbane, so its entirely possible that anything I write about it will be dripping with nepotism.
@EvisceratorX I think that's what they mean, yeah! So essentially, if you were really excited for inFAMOUS: Second Son for instance, you could have it downloaded and waiting for you, and the second the clock ticks over you'd be able to play it.
My favourite part of the video is when he starts talking about South Park: Stick of Truth - "It's an RPG type of game" - Classic!
On topic, though, I'm pretty impressed with how it looks myself. That one bit near the water looks raw as heck, but the rest looks relatively smooth - hopefully it'll play well.
@knight_spg Sorry for any offence caused, I probably didn't make that joke as clear as I could've done. I was trying to make reference to the recent South Park: Stick of Truth incident, but couldn't think of a way to do it tactfully.
On topic, I expect that the digital version will be on time as well. What's more, the delay is a pretty big blessing for my wallet too
@rjejr I totally already have a Wii U, so unfortunately I can't be grouchy about Bayonetta 2. I guess that's the problem. I can't be grouchy about Bayonetta, so instead I have to be grouchy about potential Naughty Dog tie-ins.
@rjejr Oh I'm sure that if it gets made it will do very well and will probably be quite a good movie - I just really don't see any point in the whole exercise. From a business standpoint it's a good move, but I am just a little disappointed that Naughty Dog has so blatantly decided to go with what is going to be profitable, rather than something that might be slightly more artistically challenging and valuable. It's especially disappointing when you consider that this is the studio that was willing to take a risk on a game like The Last of Us to begin with.
All that said, I'm sure they'll be laughing all the way to the bank, so more power to them. And if it does ever happen, I'll probably be a giant hypocrite and go to see it anyway
I bought and played and loved this game on PC. That said, the experience was a bit sullied due to the fact that my PC has all the computing power of a block of cheese. I'll probably pick this up again at some point so I can experience it as the developers intended.
@Carl-G Oh man, that's such a good idea! I can't even count how many times I've spent an hour waiting for a demo to download, only to have the game be awful. I really really hope they implement this somehow!
I pretty much agree with you on every front. Sometimes it looks good and sometimes it's kinda fun, but for the most part it's hella bland. Also, the story and cut-scenes are a garbled mess. I'm an hour and a half in and I've already got no idea what's going on.
@rjejr Hahaha, DBZ is totally right. Was it the spirit bomb that went on for like 500 episodes and then didn't even work?
As for the movie, I guess I'm just spoiled and annoyed that Druckmann would use his talent on a movie rather than a game. At the same time, I imagine you're right and that a movie would probably end up being more profitable in the long run. And if it's half as good as The Road, I'll have nothing to complain about
@get2sammyb Yeah, I always always got the impression that ND had a really good environment, so this does seem really odd. Also, I find it very hard to believe that if Druckmann and Straley were going to "force her out" that they would have waited this long to do it.
Also, I love Sony's comment about the release schedule. WHAT release schedule? We haven't heard a single thing about when that game is supposed to launch.
@TOMBOY25 Good spotting! That makes me even more excited for the PS4 version! Those silly looking green goblin things are going to look doubly hilarious in HD!
@Scollurio Yeah, it doesn't look particularly amazing. It wasn't 100% clear what platform these images were from, but I'm assuming that, because they were grouped with the PS4 box art, they're PS4 shots.
That said, I'm a huge fan of the design of those green goblins. Those things look hilarious!
This is lame! But if I'm honest, I never really expected this game to actually ever exist, let alone exist in a form that would satisfy me in any meaningful way. Here's hoping Ken Levine's "repayable narrative" game comes to Vita, though, because that would make it an instant 10/10 for me. Every game on Vita deserves a 10/10...
@get2sammyb I've no idea actually. I checked the PS Blog post about it, and there was no mention of online multiplayer. Kinda seems like a no brainer....
This is honestly one of my most anticipated PS4 games. I was so impressed with that trailer at the reveal, and everything else I've seen of so far looks really really interesting. Now we just need a release date.....
@Reverend_Skeeve @get2sammyb Having just finished replaying the series, I'm getting some pretty serious MGS withdrawals right now. So this really could not have come at a worse time. At this point, I'm willing to plonk cash on anything with a FOXHOUND logo on it.
Oh man. Ohhhhh man. There is absolutely no reason for me to want this - I already own a PS4. But jeez, I am stupidly tempted to import one of these. I think I have a problem....
@FullbringIchigo I'm a pretty big fan of 9 as well. It's probably the least angsty, which is why I love it so much. That said, 8 does have gunblades , which are a pretty strong contender for the best thing ever.
Played the first 5 minutes just now, and, erm, I've made an executive decision that it's probably not a good idea for me to play anymore. I don't know if my heart can take it....
@Gemuarto @FullbringIchigo I could just opt for the boxed PS3 version, which is about half that price. In the end, I'll probably just download it on PS4, and then hope I can pick up a boxed copy for cheaper somewhere down the line.
Regardless, the game looks absolutely fantastic, and, if Kojima is to be believe, will be pretty repayable. I find MGS:4 to be pretty repayable, so I imagine this will be too.
@FullbringIchigo I'm from Australia, and down here the PS4 version will set you back $89, which is around £50. That's probably got more to do with the ridiculous cost of videogames in Australia than it does with Kojima. That said, most people seemed pretty annoyed with the price on yesterday's article. I'm kinda torn, though. I really want the box (I'm a huge fan of the series), but I don't know if I can justify paying that much for it.
@eLarkos All good I'd much prefer people to tell me if I've done something silly - that way I'll get better at writing, and you'll have better content to read. Everybody wins!
@Cyrso @Shaolin I guess I just meant that after they showed off The Last of US and God of War: Ascension at all the press events, it seems weird that they would then turn around and pick completely different games for the beta test. I didn't really explain that in the article, though, which was a mistake, I think.
I enjoyed the first episode a whole bunch, so I'm looking forward to this a lot. It has a really winning sense of style - kinda makes me want to read the comics...
@SuperSilverback They announced a tentative "Fall 2014" release date a while back. But judging by the fact that we haven't seen any gameplay, we might not be seeing it that early. Or they're just holding their cards close to their chest, and I need to stop being so cynical....
Oh boy! I always got the impression - both from interviews with Levine and the actual game - that the first half of Burial at Sea was essentially just a set up for the second chunk. And this trailer has pretty much confirmed it. There is something going on here. Some huge twist is undoubtedly in the works, and I'm am getting pretty dang excited. Ken Levine, you crafty son of a gun!
