@JoeBlogs I think that's definitely a big part of it. Without giving anything away, there are some moments in the game in which you're asked to engage in profoundly evil behaviour. It's all in aid of the greater story, but because YOU are the one who has to do it (even if it is a visual novel style thing where 'interaction' in the super traditional sense is limited), it can be a little tough to get through. It's worth it, though, in my opinion.
I found this game very difficult to play, if I'm honest. I'm glad I soldiered through because the things it made me think about are important, but I really can't stress how confronting it can be.
It's often the case that games which are about "real-life" stuff like this are the hardest to stomach.
@LieutenantFatman Edith Finch has SUPER varied gameplay for a walking sim - it really stretches the genre in some interesting ways. Maybe wait for a sale if they're not usually your thing, though.
@NathanUC I didn't get a chance to play Persona 5 this year, which is devestating because I /LOVED/ Persona 4 Golden on vita.
@ellsworth004 It's kinda like an adventure/text adventure. There's a lot of choosing dialogue options, and some light puzzles and platforming. It's quite varied in gameplay styles actually - you're doing wildly different stuff all the time. There are some rythm sections, and a bit of (very shallow) combat here and there. It's mostly about the story, though.
@get2sammyb I think you would too, actually. It feels a lot like an angsty 80s teen movie.
I didn't love this as a trailer, to be honest. Like, I'm willing to give ND the benefit of the doubt and assume that in context this will all make sense. But as a trailer it just seemed crazy violent without telling me much about the game.
With that said: very very very excited for the game itself. Should be a cracker!
I enjoyed it a lot, but was maybe expecting a few more new reveals? Everything we did see was fantastic, though. As much as it pains me, I have to give it to Ubisoft so far this year - purely because of the new stuff they showed off.
A Way Out looked dope, Battlefront 2 looked pretty great, and I was digging the new NFS. Still, the highlight for me was that nervous youtuber losing it when the teleprompter failed.
I'm super interested in this! The relationship between those two characters - along with the general cozy vibes of the setting - was what I loved most about Life is Strange, so getting to revisit it is awesome news for me
Apart from the occasional super exciting secret reveal, the best thing about the Nintendo Directs is that they quickly remind me about all the upcoming games that I may have forgotten. Given that the PS4 tends to have more games than the Switch/3DS, I think PlayStation style directs can only be a good thing in that regard.
The direct's tend to be pretty goofy - which is in keeping with Nintendo's corporate image - but Sony could easily pull off a different tone I think.
@Azikira Look, I think a lower price point would definitely be more palatable. With that said, I still think the experience would be pretty disappointing.
@Fight_Teza_Fight @3Above The Devs have confirmed on Twitter that a Vita version is coming but they're still working on it. Might be worth keeping an eye out
@Octane @Goob It probably took me about 4 hours the first time I played through it. But it totally depends on how much time you take to look around. Thanks for reading
@Neolit Hi I have not played Tropico 4, so unfortunately I can't compare them. However, I can say that this is the best example of a PC Sim port I've ever played. The controls take a little getting used to, but once you've figured them out, it wont be a problem anymore.
@dryrain As far as I can tell it doesn't, unfortunately
Without a doubt, the most perfectly paced E3 press conference I've ever watched. No filler, all great trailers showing off the right things. A really really fantastic showing.
@Hnadeem46 Yeah, it totally was! I had forgotten about that! It was either last E3 or the one before that it was announced, and it hasn't been spoken about since as far as I know.
@Rudy_Manchego @get2sammyb I think the fact that I didn't even consider the implication of what I was saying there is a pretty good indication that I've been playing too much Push Me Pull You.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I really can't recommend it highly enough as a party game. I don't think I've ever laughed as hard at a game as I have playing this. I will also definitely be pulling it out at Christmas
I am genuinley stoked for this game. The Friday the 13th franchise is my favourite movie franchise of all time. More than anything, I hope this captures that terriric early 80s campfire mood of the series. If they manage to do that, they've succeeded in my books.
@Boerewors Yeah, I'm exactly the same. I just don't the time/money to play the big AAA games anymore. I'm much more interested in the cheaper shorter stuff. Thanks for reading
This is what might end up being the deal-breaker for me. The added cost will bring the Australian version to around $630. Also, it'll probably end up being closer to $750 for people who don't own Move controllers already. For comparison, the 20gb PS3 originally launched at around $800 in Australia, which was considered a ridiculous price.
With all that said, VIVE is an absolutely preposterous $1400 over here, so I guess PSVR still represents a pretty damn good deal. I will be very interested to see how this all plays out.
(Also, I would be remiss to not mention that Australia and Canada seem to be the only two countries that haven't been gouged in the conversion from the US price.)
Great review Sammy - I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I absolutley adored it on PC, but it ran at about 4 frames per second, so I'm thinking I might pick this version up. I remember the soundtrack being absolutely mint!
@Frank90 @sub12 Yeah, I haven't played Witcher 3 yet - mostly because I was broke when it came out. To be honest, I suspect it would have been fairly high up the list if I had played it. Thanks for reading
I bought this for PC, but my terrible computer couldn't run it. The little I did play was fantastic, though, and I'm very very very keen to give it another look.
@Malouff I never had that problem personally, no. But I've read of a few other people encountering it. As for the new game+, the answer is complicated. There's certainly stuff to do once you beat the main quest, but it's not a new game+ as such.
If I'm totally honest, I did press the R2 button when I was playing it, but the change in speed was so gradual that I couldn't figure out if I was actually running or not.
At any rate, I didn't have a problem with the walking speed, so it made no difference to me.

Re: Platinum Games' Next Title Could've Been a Princess Clothing Making Game
@get2sammyb Yeah, really gotta second this point. I would spend every waking moment cultivating S ranked outfits.

Honestly my favorite announcement of the day. The first game is ~~~perfect~~~~.

Re: Talking Point: Did Ubisoft's E3 2017 Press Conference Bedazzle You?
I really enjoyed the conference - good mix of games, and a really snappy pace. Good stuff

Best conference forever.

Re: E3 2017: EA Announces New Co-op Game A Way Out
Super super into this. Also dig the slightly stylized, but still kinda realistic art-style of it.
Re: Feature: Remembering Sony's Silliest E3 Stages
@adf86 Hahaha, really? That's amazing! I'm so disappointed he didn't do that!
Re: Feature: Remembering Sony's Silliest E3 Stages
@BLP_Software @get2sammyb Yeah, last year they had that thing where Shawn Layden walked out and had Crash's shadow following him. Super cool!
I'm hoping for something really strange. I make fun of them in the article, but I actually kinda love how in depth they get.

Re: Talking Point: Did Ubisoft's E3 2016 Press Conference Impress You?
The content was good, it was just very poorly paced.
Steep is my game of the show, thus far. Really excited for an open world game that isn't about shooting or driving.

Re: Review: Enter the Gungeon (PS4)
@Johnnycide Good question! I've not played Nuclear Throne, but for what it's worth, I think there's enough here to differentiate it from Isaac.
Also, I found this significantly more difficult than Isaac, so if you're looking for a challenge it's worth a look.

@get2sammyb The scary thing is that it's not even a joke. I just had a shower, and spent 15 minutes trying to solve the grate over the drain.
