@Mrskinner I must admit, Sunset Overdrive did look promising. As did Platinum's new game. Those two were the highlights for me - I'm interested to see what Sony has up its sleeve
Good Lord, Sammy, you're a writing machine! As for the conference, I am certainly much more interested in the Xbox One than I was before. With that said, nothing really wowed me all that much.
I'll be going to bed in the next few hours, so I can get up at 2:00 for another company's press conference that won't be named. Then I'll be awake all the way through. Should be an interesting 24 hours.
@get2sammyb That joke really didn't require me to watch the entire video, but I did...
Right. That's it, Ladies and Gentlemen. Between this and the last article, I am now officially out of Dragon Ball Z puns. It's been a good run, I feel, and I'd really like to thank you all for your support
A well deserved spot for Wolfenstein. It's a really terrific little shooter, with a lot of style and a good sense of humour. Also, it's heartening to see a single player-only FPS make such an impact - they seem to be a dying breed.
Cracking read, Alex! I've been playing through this the past few days, and really enjoying it - especially the story, which surprises me. I can't wait to see what this developer does next
@Davros79 Thank you! In terms of the combat, it's a little difficult to describe. It feels a lot more fluid than a standard tactical RPG like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics, but it's certainly not as fast paced as Bastion. I would say watch a gameplay video from early in the game, and that should give you a fairly good idea of wether or not it'll appeal to you.
My biggest problem with QTEs is how many of the damn things there are. For a while there, it felt like developers had conflated repeatedly tapping a single button with actual gameplay. I think QTEs are at their best when they're used sparingly, and MGS 4 is a perfect example of that. There is no other (that I can remember) use of QTEs in that game, so the one time they are used is rendered that much more effective and meaningful.
It certainly does seem a little strange that they would seemingly ignore the European market in this way yet again. Surely they could have scheduled the conference a few hours earlier to keep everyone happy. I can't really complain, though, as it'll be airing around midday over here. My biggest concern is making sure I don't get lunch crumbs all over my keyboard while I'm typing furiously.
I will never not be impressed by this new attitude of listening and responding to people's complaints. It's honestly ridiculous how good of a job Sony's been doing in this department over the last year.
@General_Spiller Alas, they don't give me any insider info From what I can gather, though, you're pretty much spot on. Obviously no developer would be able to actually tell us how much this payment amounts to, but we can assume that it'd be a fair amount. I think in this case they probably made the right decision, only because Mercenary Kings is so expensive, and I doubt it would have sold hugely well, at least initially.
@SunnyShores I often find myself pausing the game in the middle of really intense fire fights just so I can see what it looks like in photo mode. Which is a pretty bad idea, because it usually ends up getting me killed.
I agree though, I'd really like to see them implement the mode in other games, especially early in the generation when we're all trying our darndest to find improvements over our previous consoles
@Cowboysfan-22 Ahahaha, that's all good Don Bradman was a really famous Australian cricketer. As for knowing about the sport, I don't think anyone will be too angry - most of the people I know think cricket's boring anyway!
Yeah, I agree entirely. When it comes to indie games, my mantra has essentially become - "I'll just wait till it releases on Vita!" For some reason, I just really love playing games on that thing.
I've always been intrigued by this one, but I've yet to see a game - L.A Noire included - in which the "searching for clues" gameplay was actually very interesting. That said, I love the concept and setting. I guess I'll just wait for reviews!
@N711 They did, but it was still kinda vague. I guess I was trying to refer to the vagueness more than anything else, but I don't think I did a very good job of making that clear in the article. Regardless, I think we can all agree, that the sooner it comes out, the better

The PSN is predictably pretty gross right now, so good luck to you all
Re: E3 2014: Rise of the Tomb Raider Furthers Lara Croft's Journey
I am so excited for this, as the first game was absolutely stellar! However, that name is complete nonsense.

Re: Game of the Month: May 2014 - Transistor
@ShogunRok That sounds like the sort of needless alliteration I might have come up with

Re: SWAT's This? Battlefield Hardline Unravels a Robbery on PS4, PS3
I have almost zero interest in the Battlefield franchise, but this does have me intrigued. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.
Also, if it's anything like the movie Heat, I am so down.

Re: Bombs Incoming! Sony's E3 Press Conference Will Be Held on 9th June
@Demi_God @get2sammyb Yeah, Sony's is basically the only conference that works very well for me. Which is frankly all I deserve for my gloating

@get2sammyb Ahhh, Tru Blu Games - the studio behind such classic titles as uh.....and uhm......

@get2sammyb It's like cricket, isn't it? Right? Probably? On topic, though, I'm tempted to buy this just so I can look at it a whole bunch...
