Re: New PS2 Emulator Appears to Be Imminent on PS5, PS4

lessthanleo

@nessisonett Recently set up a MiniPC with Batocera for exactly that. Plays PS2 bang on and managed to get most of the big WiiU titles running acceptably. 78 quid for the machine and having a right blast with the achievements. Building a cabinet or it's going in the camper I think.

Planet Coaster is worth anyone's time, especially as it supports M+K on console.

HOWEVER...isn't Tiny Tina's DLC from a game that was ALREADY given as the full package in June 2019, this DLC included?

EA cash grab...not for me, not for anyone.

Re: PS4 Trophies Bugged Out with PS3 Labels and People Are Jumping to Conclusions Again

@nessisonett Was the 360 not PowerPC also? As well as the Wii/GC? Thought it was more to do with the CPU architecture but no expert...

AFAIK all back compat across consoles is emulated in some fashion so it's not a silly question to ask why the same can't be done by Sony by any means, just look at all the work done on RPCS3 over the last decade by hobbyists - they've somehow managed to emulate the CELL on a WIntel system.

Not quite the same thing but every single PS3 model can now be soft-modded to run almost every PS2 game, something Sony said they couldn't do/refused to do. In the same vein, the aforementioned RPCS3 can be ran on a modded PS4 to emulate PS3 games on a PS4.

I don't think it's a case of can't, just won't. If given access to current gen dev tools, I have absolutely no doubt that an enthusiastic bunch of tinkerers could get it working.

Re: Hitman 3 Dated for 20th January, Free Digital PS5 Upgrade Available

@Kefka2589 Yeah assumed it would be something like that.

Even that way they can't control the pricing to the same extent as a digital game, and less of that money goes into the devs pockets once all overheads are paid/retailers/logistics etc etc...

They're essentially already quids-in when someone buys digital (despite Sony's cut) and so I guess it's almost rewarding the fact you're paying a premium price off the bat for the digital version.

I don't know the ins and outs of it all but guessing someone out there has broken down where the cash goes for each format...I'd put (a very small amount of) money down on the fact that one full price digital version nets them a not too dissimilar amount than a couple of physical copies sold through retailers.

Re: Don't Worry, You Don't Need PS Plus to Play Call of Duty: Warzone

Anyone else having catastrophic crashes with this new update? The moment I go to start the training my PS Pro's fans crank up to 10000% as soon as I click play and then it shuts my Playstation down about half a second after. Never had an issue with any other games or had a genuine overheating issue but this happens without fail and leads to the system having to rebuild and repair. Seen a couple of other people on the Reddit with similar issues but interested to know if it's widespread

Re: Rumour: Much of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Season One Battle Pass Must Be Paid For

lessthanleo

@playstation_king It basically replaces the Season Pass...this time the map DLC etc is free to avoid splitting the player base, the other stuff not.

It's the Activision/Blizzard staple...no game was ever going out the door without some sort of post release monetisation. If anything this is probably the least aggressive form it's taken in a fair few releases.

It is, however, a sorry reflection of games media as a whole (Then again, the budgets are absolutely immense these days). It just seems to be the way it is these days and that's rather sad, I'll admit. It also seems to be the continuation of the worrying trend into these types of sales tactics.

@get2sammyb "it would be useful to know the title's format, whether PS3 or PS4. not everyone knows which games are available from which platform."

I've just knocked this out in Excel if you want it...INDEX/MATCH FTW. Can add the bullets and split it if needs be so you can copy/paste

Re: Borderlands 3 Causes Uproar Amongst Longtime Fans with the Lack of Vertical Split-Screen Co-Op

lessthanleo

Purchased, Downloaded, Not fired up yet due to hearing about the technical issues, framerate drops etc. Only bought as something for me and the Mrs to drill through as couch co-op and this seems to be where a huge amount of the problems lie.

Also, the text issue is a bit off-putting as well as don't want to have to sit 3 inches from my TV just to see my weapon stats. It might be bearable, I don't know, but given how much love I have for the series I don't want to risk it given the myriad of problems and lack of vertical split screen.

There also seems to be some pretty game breaking bugs, locking story progression and also items disappearing upon loading your game.

On the plus side, it reminded me that we still haven't finished Commander Lilith so we've returned to that for a few days to play in normal sized text, side-by-side goodness.
