Re: Guide: Best PS4 Remakes and Remasters

Resident Evil 6 is actually a really good remaster at least from a technical point of view (60 fps, 1080p). And Capcom (or those who did the remaster) also sorted out the problem with some areas just being to dark in the PS360 versions.
RE6 is a lot more fun to play in the good parts of it in 60 fps IMO.

Re: Square Enix Boss Says Game Streaming and Subscription Services Will Be Key to Future Growth

I've already more or less "checked out" on contemporary gaming. Have my huge backcatalog on Vita and 3DS plus numerous classics on a wide selection of platforms ranging from arcade and Sinclair ZX Spectrum games to a few PS4 games, that I intend to replay from time to time.
I have preordered the RE 2 remake though, but other than maybe a single Vita game I have nothing I'm looking forward to.
My "checking out" from gaming is not something that have happened "overnight"; it's been a gradually thing that more or less started back when PS2 took over from the original PlayStation.
Of course there have been great games since then (action games have generally become much more advanced), but action adventures (which is what I really loved the PS1 for) have gradually become more and more generic IMO.
Fighting, driving and FPS games have gradually become more and more graphically impressive, but IMO more or less plays like they always have (the Vita IMO hit the sweet spot when it comes to graphics - they simply don't have to any better on a 5 inch screen).
Ok, that sounded like a bit of rant, but in fact I'm happier gamer than I've been the last maybe 17-18 years, because I finally gotten time to look into my backlog, simply because there aren't really any new games that interest me anymore (I'm not even really pumped for RE 2 remake, but expect it to be quite alright).
So I'm not so bothered with streaming maybe becoming the future, even if my own experiences with it have been rather bland (streaming PS4 to my Vita - sometimes great other times downright terrible).

Re: Resident Evil: Director's Cut - Iconic Survival Horror

Playing it on my Vita right now and it's still great (even if the graphics were at bit better in 2 and 3). I still prefer this version and the Nintendo DS version over the remake (always thought it lost something in the translation).

And it's not only nostalgia. In fact I played 2 before 1 and was initially a bit dissapointed with it after the masterpiece 2 had been. But I've since grown to love it just as much as 2; it just feels more like the true essence of Survival Horror to me.

So no localization of the Vita version I recon?
It's understandable with Catherine: Full Body, another "big" Vita game, not being localized either.
Was considering getting F/E Link as my final day one purchase for the Vita, as it's probably the last reasonably big action game coming for it (have no desire to get it for PS4 though).

Re: Player Data Paints Damning Picture of Telltale's Efforts

I've only played Wolf Among Us on Vita and I really liked the characters and story, but it was very poor technically.
I also have the first season (chapter?) of The Walking Dead, but from what little I've played of it, it just seems to me that it is reaching to much for the lowest common denominator for my liking.
Maybe that's what was Telltale biggest problem in the end; their games just seemed pretty superficial and not very "deep" generally.

Re: TGS 2018: PS Vita Production to Cease Next Year in Japan, Says Sony Boss

I haven't played my Vita for the last 3 or 4 month at all. But then again I haven't played many games at all this year compared to just 2 years ago.
It just seems time has finally caught up to me and I'm now so much out of sync with the general gaming taste, that there simply seems to be next to nothing of the new stuff coming out, that appeals to me (I will get REMake 2 though).
I will however return to the Vita and 3DS from time to time to replay some the classics (AND my backlog). I might even seldomly return to some of the best games on the PS3 and Xbox 360, but I doubt I will buy many (if any) new games in the future.
Does it bother me? Not really; I save money and I believe I have enough classics to scratch my gaming itch from time to time.

@Zoroflamingo The Wii U was (is) not a bad console when it comes to first party games, but it was abandoned by Nintendo because it didn't do very well.
Nintendo wouldn't have let it go so soon, if it had had any kind of real commercial succes.
The Vita on the other hand didn't have that many great first party titles, but have more or less survived on third party support for the last 4 years or so (and it does have many good to great more unknown games - especially in the action games, fighting games and JRPG genres - which is probably why it's still popular among a decently large core of fans).
