Bioware is without a doubt, Done. After the abysmal Mass Effect Andromeda they followed up with the lackluster Anthem. They are but a sad dying bleeding corpse of their former selves and EA is about to strike them down.
@JoeBlogs That's not how IPs work. If you want to make a new commercial project on an existing IP you have to work it out with the IP holder and pay them a reasonable sum.
@Areus Sony didn't buy Naughty Dog, they are their parent company but they are not owned by Sony. They simply struck a deal to publish their games on Sony systems and seem to be ok with that but in no way is Jax and Dexter or any of Naughty Dog's creations owned by Sony
This seems like a repeat of 2015, I feel like I am taking crazy pills. How in God's (Pun intended) name is everyone giving God of War game of the year?
Just like when people were giving Metal Gear Solid 5 game of the year I was upset and confused. God of War took the intense fast paced action and slowed it up, repeated boss fights very quickly and made the whole things pretty but shallow. Just like Metal Gear Solid 5, who literally had you repeat the opening and several missions because it ran out of stuff for you to do.
However Insomniac took a tired franchise like Spider-Man and made a truly remarkable game that had a great story with a few gut punches at the end. Not only is it a great looking game, but it embodies it's characters and throws in a few truck loads of fan service to boot.
God of War soft rebooted the series with Norse Mythology but literally showed off almost none of it, apparently Norse Mythology is just a handful of trolls and a couple of Gods. The slower gameplay, and new camera angle killed the game for any long time fans of the series. Think if they took Devil May Cry and stripped out the fun combo heavy fast combat and instead you guided an older Dante and his young son around and had a heavy weapon to kill a couple enemies that showed up on the screen at a time.
In no way am I saying God of War deserves a 0/10 but a solid 7/10 Buy it recommendation, but not Game of the Year
@suikoden No it shouldn't be re-reviewed. Game companies and publishers have gotten to complacent with releasing unfinished games and fixing them later. In No Man's Sky's case it took them 2 years to get to this point, that's unacceptable
@Salt_AU Comparing Rockstar and Bethesda's engines is laughable. Rockstar's engines have bugs but nowhere in the same ballpark that Bethesda's dinosaur engine does.
If your local mom and pop game shop has eshop cards, buy those to pay for the digital copy of the game. If they don't still buy it digitally and maybe get a new controller from them instead. Either way do not, I repeat, do not fold and buy it physically from a big box store. It will do nothing but further drive this issue in the future.
@LaNooch1978 I think if it was a full blown $50 season pass, or they gave us very little content to begin with and locked everything behind a paywall I would be annoyed. But $79.99 for a full game to play right away and promised additional content in Oct, Nov and Dec sounds great
@LaNooch1978 You can make multiple saves on the game, and totally start a new file Saturday evening. It's all up to you on how good you think you can act surprised a second time lol
@jswhitfield8 But sometimes by pre-ordering a digital game they give you a limited edition static theme and then just release a free animated theme that looks exactly the same....cough Watchdogs 2 cough
@jdv95 You are wrong. Just to compare apples to apples here are the sales numbers for Skyrim when it came out all the way back in 2011. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim X360 8.88m The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PS3 6.49m The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim PC 3.97m
So of these three platforms it sold the worst on PC, but yet you are standing there and saying that its most popular on the PC.
@jdv95 How is PC a big money maker for them? They sell a fraction of copies of any of their titles on the PC compared to the consoles. Your statement literally made my brain hurt but the level of wrong that it was.
I need to see how the online component will work, and if shark cards (Poker cards?) will make a comeback. That will help me determine whether or not to stay away.
@Splints You are fully aware you can make a free Xbox Silver account correct? Also the only reason you would ever have to sign into Xbox Live is if you are playing a Microsoft title (Like Minecraft), but if you are playing Rocket League on the PS4 and crossplay was enabled it would require no further account sign in on your side, you would simply start see players called M@STERCHEIF2007
If Bethesda had some serious balls on them they would not release any of their upcoming games on PS4 unless universal cross play was available. So no Fallout 76, no Rage 2, no Doom Eternal. But Bethesda loves to make real money and they need to save face from all the crap coming out lately about Fallout 76. So as a good will gesture they threatened not to release their awful card game on the PS4 unless they play nice with everyone else.
You weirdly bringing attention to this small detail is the reason why Parent activist groups get all riled up. If we treated anatomy as just another part of the biological world we live in we would be a lot more at peace. But hey if horse balls wake you up in the morning who am I to judge.
@Splat Saying you are going to wait to play it because you have some other games coming out before it or around its release first is better than saying you are going to wait for a flash sale.
@RoyalGuard Anti consumer? Really? Because they require you to connect your readily available internet capable device to the internet and download something? It's silly, but I think you are taking it a little extreme
It could be a rights issue like with Tony Hawk. Maybe they are losing the rights soon or they are coming up to be renewed and they needed to print the physical disc before those rights were up. At least its a full one game on the disc, Tony Hawk got just a tutorial and the day one patch was the rest of the horrible game
@kyleforrester87 I wasted a week (604800 seconds) with this game thinking they listened to our collective complaints with the first game. I was wrong, and proceeded to delete the game installation. Sadly I own it digitally (like all of my games) and it sits like a constant reminded in my library telling me not to trust once great companies. Bungie has failed us.
@kyleforrester87 It's really bad descriptions of one of comics most complex characters that makes my fires stoke pretty hot. Peter Parker is not cocky, but his sudden powers thrust upon him and the fact he is super strong and agile (two qualities he didn't have before) and also a super hero saving his town and the World makes him pretty cocky when he puts the suit on.
@kyleforrester87 You are prejudging a game from a great studio who has never given a reason as to assume they are about to dump a bad product on our laps. It's a stand alone game, not tied to the MCU or any current animated show, and its a passion project by them so that's the reason for the hype
@kyleforrester87 If you don't get the hype, no amount of explanation will get you there. All I can do is refer you to Rachet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive, then watch Spiderman Homecoming or read a Spiderman comicbook and maybe you will sort of get it

Re: Talking Point: Could Sony Lease Out Its Dormant Franchises?
@PS_Nation
Jax and Dexter was made by Naughty Dog just like Crash Bandicoot it too could see life on another console.
Sadly I misspoke about Sly Cooper games. They were made by Sucker Punch who is owned by Sony.
Re: Talking Point: Could Sony Lease Out Its Dormant Franchises?
Jax and Daxter and Sly Cooper do not belong to Sony in any way. So we could easily see remasters done in a few more years show up on all the systems.
