Re: New PS Portal Firmware Update Adds Better Wi-Fi Features and More

stupidget

Sat on a beach 1600 miles away from my PS5 using the 5g hotspot on my iPhone and it’s perfect. GT7 is perfectly playable, ESO plays brilliantly (apart from trying to work out how to call my Mount) and Klenoa 2 is an absolute joy. PsPortal is a stunning piece of kit. I’ve not have a single connection issue for the past 10 days.

With the firmware upgrade allowing me to connect to the hotel WiFi, which extends to the beach, means I won’t use shedloads of my iPhone data.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PlayStation Portal?

Just for clarification it can be used over any WiFi connection, Sony just recommend that Home WiFi is probably better. This is from the Sony site:

Can PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player only be played on my home Wi-Fi network?

While your home Wi-Fi network represents a great option to use PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player because you have control over the quality of your own home Wi-Fi, it is not required. PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player can also be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use1. For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended. If you are using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.

I use remote play a hell of a lot between my old PS4 to my PS5 at home when we're up at our Holliday home on North Wales. Being able to still do that whilst my wife watches something awful like Below Deck is an absolute godsend

Re: Feature: Our PS5 Impressions After One Weekend of Play

I have to admit that the PS5 is a stunning piece of kit. From the utter silence of the console itself through to the joy of using the DualSence I think this is a huge leap from the PS4.

Astros Playroom is an excellent game, but combining it with the new controller makes for a gaming experience that I've never had before. It just ads a whole new level to gaming.

Re: UK Scalper Group Claims It's Snagged 3,500 PS5 Consoles

@JohnKarnes Thats what I did. I had a pre-order with Box.co.uk, who I'd never heard of to be honest, and completely forgot about the pre-order I'd placed with shopto.net. I thought about keeping both and selling one on for a profit, but then realised that would make me as bad as the vile scalpers/touts that I hate, so I cancelled my box.co.uk pre-order which I'm pretty sure someone will have snapped up within a few seconds.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 351

Finished Astro's Playroom this morning and I don't think the grin disapeared from my face the entire time. The ending is brilliant, even after the titles have rolled, and the use of the Dual Sense's capabilities throughout the entire game is a stroke of genius.

I'm giving Days Gone a try and I have to say that it looks stunnig at 60FPS.

I must admit download times seem much faster than the Ps4 but maybe that's becasue there aren't as many PS5 users as there are PS4 users and thus not maxing out bandwidth to the Sony datacentres hosting PS5 servers.

Re: PS5 Makes It So Much Easier to Appear Offline and Busy

My PS5 was delivered this morning at 10:25 (5 mins early!!!) by DPD and I've only had a quick play on Astro's Playroom, but this Dual Controller is simply amazing!!! I didn't think it would make that much difference, but blimey it really is a game changer. Plus my lounge is eerily quiet now as there isn't the constant humming of fan in the background

Re: Poll: PlayStation Is 25 Years Old Today - What Is Your Favourite PlayStation Console?

stupidget

I got a PlayStation for Christmas 1998. I knew I was getting it for xmas and went out and purchased RE2. I look back and I was so excited I felt the same I did when I got my Spectrum 48k in 1983. The only difference I was fully grown 25 year old bloke .

I think the PS1 was the first 'cool' games console. It was the time of cool Britannia in the UK, it was a time where the culture was all about having fun, clubbing was massive and for a very small amount of time the UK was actually liked by the rest of the world. I remember going to a club in Birmingham and there was a row of 10 PS1 consoles playing Wipeout, Destruction Derby and Tempest and there were groups of sweaty wide-eyed goons playing them. The fact that they were all off their tits on E probably helped

@ToniK yeah, it was the shareware version I had. I was a CAD operator at the time and had a Compaq 486 with 16mb of memory. Yes kids, that’s 16MB not 16GB!!!!🤣🤣. Every time my boss walked in the room I’d turn the brightness down on my screen and say I was rebooting the pc because it had crashed. Simple PC days.
