@God_of_Nowt I was talking about on a personal level as well as gaming journalists. Lot's of third party devs have shown off their XSX's and journalists already have them as well and are prepping reviews. The same people are saying the aren't getting PS5's from Sony until closer to launch or at launch itself. This is inline with what Sony has been doing this gen, they don't seem to want to give their consoles to anyone early. But for some reason this Travis guy gets one? Wtf?
@get2sammyb I think it depends on what is offered. The Series X's UI is the same as what is already on the Xbox One. Won't be any surprises or that "new gen" feel. The Series X is essentially just a continuation of the Xbox One, which is what Microsoft is wanting as that mimics the PC market. If the PS5 has some new out-of-the-box UI but lacks some features we consider essential or basic now at launch I would be fine with that for the most part.
I'm started to think that the PS5 will be very stripped down and they don't want people to know that. It'll run games at launch but won't have the dense features the Xbox One/PS4 have until later. A lot of people forget the PS4/Xbox One were downgrades from the PS3/360 in terms of UI features and took years to add in the stuff the previous consoles had. Sony's been making this big "generations" push, maybe that's not about games but about the playstation ecosystem. They might not take everything from the previous gen and add on top of it like the XSX, they may be starting over anew.
@oldschool1987 The first game is amazing, at the time is was revolutionary and has influenced most rpgs that exist now. It is so much fun exploring the worlds and enveloping in the lore. The second two turned into poorly written linear third-person shooter garbage that put too much emphasis on dialogue.
This remaster is entirely unnecessary though, just make a new game. Not a Mass Effect game, you had your chance and you ruined it. Make a new series and put some effort and love into it, both of those are absent from 99% of AAA releases these days.
@BrettAwesome I wish hot girls were allowed in video games these days. The female characters in the Jak series were some of the best, now Naughty Dog wouldn't dare include anything of that sort.
@thefourfoldroot lol same here, I remember my parents letting me open one present on Christmas eve one year and I got The World Is Not Enough. I didn't have an N64 so I knew what was coming the next day.
@TheGamerNextDoor This was the actual "second wave" and it is highly questionable whether there will be another. It has already been announced that the consoles that were up for pre-order today are not launch consoles and will instead ship late-November/early-December. If there is another wave the consoles in that wave likely wouldn't ship until 2021.
@Carl-G The Xbox and Playstation do not actually compete, the "console war" is the invention of gaming news sites trying to make money from ads with clicks from ignorant fanboys. Demographic reports from both companies show the people who buy these consoles are very different. There is a small overlap of course but for the most part it doesn't matter. Both consoles are selling out with their respective audiences. The goal of both companies this gen will be market penetration in new places.
Eh I'm not really interested in RE8, RE7 was the opposite of what I like from Resident Evil. I prefer the older games RE1-RE4, after that series went downhill. I'm really hoping for a RE4 remake, Capcom is the only company that seems to know how to do those correctly.
@KirbyTheVampire A PS3 game with new textures is not exactly next gen either.
At this point I firmly believe Sony was originally planning a 2021 release for the PS5 but when Microsoft unveiled plans for the XSX to launch in 2020 Sony rushed the final development to compete with it.
Interesting, I'm always for transparency and dialogue with gaming companies. Microsoft has done this with some of their first party studios. One I was very active in was honestly one of the best gaming communities that has ever existed.
@playstation1995 Every outlet is reporting it as a single player action game but that could be an error. It's made by the same team that did 14 so I was assuming an MMO. It definitely looks awful, not just just with the graphic fidelity but also the characters and setting. Everything looks bland as hell, it's definitely not "Final Fantasy", it's more Nomura garbage. If it's not turn based I'm not interested in the slightest. Square hasn't made a great FF since X and this looks more in line with 13 and 15.
@RedShirtRod PS4 and Xbox One did not have this level of demand and the PS4 certainly had far more available units at launch than the PS5. You were able to order the PS4/XB1 after E3 too, not 2 months before launch. It was all much easier last time around. These new PS5 preorders are apparently the last until 2021.
@HuJack007 It's been confirmed these new pre-orders are not for launch day. But you may want to go with these anyway as this apparently could be the last batch before 2021.
@StonyKL Yeah I don't expect the Series S to sell well anywhere really. Fine for budget gamers I guess but budget gamers aren't preordering launch consoles.
@StonyKL I can't speak for what happened in the UK but I got 6 XSX preorders myself here in the US and could have gotten more if I was really trying. With the PS5 I was up at around 3am when I started seeing people freak out about the preorders. Got 2 before they sold out but wanted to get 6.
I'm fine with games increasing in price but the quality of games and the direction of the industry need to change. I would not pay $1 for a garbage product like Uncharted or Death Stranding but would pay $100+ for an epic massive open world rpg.
@MarcG420 You probably should watch that again, he literally confirmed that I am right about everything I've said. You are either a very dedicated troll or are actually mentally ill.
@MarcG420 I agree you are a clown, likely a troll I have been baited by. And if "proof" to you is a sentence from a random person on the internet I imagine you believe a lot of false realities.
Edit: Oh you've edited your comment to include a link to Cerny's conference where he blatantly confirms what I've been saying. Have you been hit in the head recently or something?
@MarcG420 You are either lying/trolling or have completely misunderstood every thing you've seen about the PS5's SSD. Everything you've said is simply false.
We do not need remasters of any games released on PS4/Xbox One. This is just getting ridiculous. Hollywood refuses to take chances anymore and just remakes everything, is the same happening with the gaming industry?
I've never played Crysis before so I'm somewhat interested in this. The graphics aren't exactly next gen though, that bottom screenshot doesn't look as good as AC: Black Flag which came out a generation ago.
@theheadofabroom I think ya'll are a bit confused by their wording. The drives will essentially use off-the-shelf hardware but will need special formatting, will need to be specific sizes like 825gb or 1.65tb, and will need to fit in the physical form factor of the PS5. This has been clear since Mark Cerny's conference. If this wasn't the case, additional storage on the PS5 would be much slower than the internal storage and would open up a litany of problems. Digital Foundry did a great job breaking this down.
@theheadofabroom Directly from Sony's conferences. You should probably watch them again, they are not using a standard form factor. That was among the first things they said about the drive.
@MarcG420 Where are you getting that information? According to Sony's own conferences and press releases 9GB/s was what they were getting on the kernel/OS, 7-8 was in game speed with a large variable rate.
@MarcG420 @theheadofabroom You will not be able to by an NVMe M.2 off the shelf and stick it in your PS5. Sony has said they need to approve all SSD's that are compatible with the PS5. They have to be made in a special way(so the data flows correctly and the size of drives is universal) and they have to be formatted in a specific way. There really is no difference between what Sony and MS are doing other than MS partnered with Seagate and Sony is allowing all SSD manufacturers the opportunity to submit models for PS5 drives. MS's solution is more expensive in the long run but you can actually buy the product now for $200. If the PS5 had drives out now they'd by $300+. But you likely won't see any until late 2021/early 2022 and the price should be less then especially if you have a couple manufacturers competing.
@nessisonett And that's without these being in the PS5 form factor and format Sony is going to need. You can expect an additional $100 on the price tag of consumer ready PS5 expandable storage. I would like a timeframe on when we can expect them too, I'm guessing holiday 2021 but it could be longer.
This isn't bad though, I was anticipating something in the range of $400-$500. The costs of these drives has gone done a fair amount in the last few years.
"Specific times for when these pre-orders will go live have not been shared" JFC Sony just do what Microsoft did, it was perfect. Anyone who wanted a console got one. This is gonna be another crapshow.
This game came out two years ago and it's getting a remaster. This is insane. Will we be getting a remaster of it in 2021 as well? If it's just improved loadtimes, sharper graphics, and some more stuff in the environment they really need to reevaluate what they are doing. Releasing it as a free patch through backwards compatibility like many Xbox titles do would be more proper for such a small upgrade.
@Boxmonkey That is what people refer to as "fake news". The Xbox One X is no longer produced, any sales of those consoles were products already out the door. Only very stupid people are confused by simple naming schemes and very stupid are not enthusiasts preordering the latest and greatest gaming consoles. If anything it was probably poorly programmed botnets or resellers who don't know any better because they are not gamers.
@RPE83 Yep it's for this thing my work does around the holidays. I'll be purchasing more after the release if there are any actually available but wanted to get some locked in beforehand.
You've taken the word of that article without verifying the information it says. Where is this Ubisoft release with this information that the article mentions?
@graysoncharles Not a scalper(only 1 was a personal purchase, the other 5 will be given away)and didn't use a botnet. At 8am pst I ordered my first console on the MS Store with no issues, then at 8:10am I ordered another with no issues, then went to Best Buy and Amazon and got a console at each of those. I thought I'd gotten lucky and they'd be sold out by then but around 9am I went back to the MS store(had to reload the page a few times but that's to be expected) and got another, and around 10am I ordered my final one from the MS store with no issues. I was starting to think they had low demand or super high stock but it sold out from everywhere around 11am.
As a note, the MS store limited the consoles to one per order, not one per person. I have 4 separate orders for XSX's on the same account, with the same banking info, and the same shipping address.
Revisionism is a plague on modern society. Let your original ideas/work stand for itself. Do not rewrite history because you think something will be less controversial. I am so sick of these spineless companies that do this crap.
@MJ Microsoft's site was the best place to buy them, anyone saying it had issues is an idiot. They had a ton of stock for hours, I could have bought 100 consoles if I wanted to.
