@Menchi "It can read data at speeds of 7GB/s and write data at speeds of 4.1GB/s," Sony claims the PS5's SSD writes and reads at 5.5GB/s+ I also imagine these third party drives won't perform as well as the onboard SSD because it won't use the custom memory controller.
According to the source link (square's website) they still need to do a vast amount of the visuals in the game. I'm pinning it as a holiday 2021 release at earliest and holiday 2022 at the latest.
@BNAG_Gamer Vacuum's build up so much static electricity that running one over the PS5's internals would almost certainly damage it. This is one of the most widely known things that you shouldn't do when cleaning a computer because it destroys them very often, I am surprised your PS4 Pro didn't brick the first time you did it and I would recommend never doing it again.
@RicksReflection If you really wanted me to quit responding to you, you'd quit responding to me. Your insistence at further continuing this petty charade is indicative that your last "sentence" applies to yourself.
@RicksReflection I'm not trying to "illicit a response" I was trying to have a conversation but you went completely off the rails. And I will never "agree to disagree" about reality. I hate lies, liars, and people who try to warp facts to fit an agenda. I have no "dog" in any race, any preference for any thing, or any bias for any individual, company, product, or thing. I will always be on the side of objective reality and fact. If you have a problem with that go ahead and block me.
@RicksReflection Again no counterargument or actual response to what I said, just semi-coherent unrelated nonsense. The specs and the tear downs of these consoles are not "RUMORS on the internet", they are facts released by both companies. I don't know any other way to help you understand that.
@RicksReflection If you aren't trolling, I suggest some English courses, specifically with writing and comprehension. You are almost completely incoherent.
I really have no idea what you are talking about or what point you are trying to make, your responses don't make any sense in regard to what I wrote. You haven't responded to what I said or given any alternative, you just keep going on about how we have to wait until we have these consoles in our hands which is simply not true. I'm assuming you are either just a troll or are in some sort of denial.
"What part of TRUE SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS is based on REAL WORLD TESTING, that you don't understand?" I'd like to see you try to explain to a physicist that they aren't a scientist because they can't physically study stars, black holes, or anything that isn't on this planet in a lab and everything they know is based on math and observations. Your use of emojis might cause them to not pay you any attention though.
@Menchi There was a tweet yesterday from the Senior Editor of the Verge where he comments on this. He says that the recent rumors of the XSX heat issues are false and implies the PS5 is the console that actually has heating issues. I'll reserve final judgment until I've played both for months/years but this is exactly what the hardware points to.
@RicksReflection 🤦♂️ Ay ay ay. What exactly do you think will change about these consoles when we get them in a month? The PS5's have already been produced, they aren't adding anything to what we've seen today. Nothing in your response makes any sense, we have all the facts we need to form a conclusion about how these consoles handle heat dispersion. This is simple stuff, I don't know why it is so hard for you. Your insistence that these consoles will be different from their specifications is bizarre, the only thing they can do differently than an ideal scenario(what all my calculations were based on) is underperform(which they will and is included in my margin of error).
@RicksReflection You are right, I didn't want to read everything you wrote and I find it odd you put emojis all over the place in your comments.
By the way, I'm not going by opinion. We've been shown both consoles fully now, so we know the facts. I've done the math, factored everything in that applies, and even with a large margin of error the PS5 is still the hotter console.
@RicksReflection Your rock analogy is riveting, I suggest you contact Scientific American with your findings.
On a non-sarcastic note, because you seem to be implying otherwise, the XSX has an objectively better cooling solution and it's components don't generate as much heat as the PS5's(gpu is more than PS5's but the PS5's SSD takes it's heat output to another level). It really is that simple, no rocks needed.
@LowTech "Would you live only in brand new houses ? Or only buy brand New cars ?" That is in fact exactly how I live my life. If you can't afford such a small price, you should not be spending money on video games in the first place. Video games are a luxury item, if someone is that strapped for money they should focus on paying bills, putting food on the table, and saving.
The customizability should be easy, intuitive, and perhaps the best of any console ever. Sony should have a bunch of custom colors and designs for the panels in the works, and I'm a bit surprised they don't have custom ones ready to sell at launch.
The actual internal design is a lot better than I thought it would be. It's not the messy clutter I was expecting, it would actually seem like they favor design over performance and I thought they were going the opposite.
Some of it's design aspects are rather worrying though. The heatsink is outdated and I find their claims of vapor-chamber equivalence to be dubious at best and deceptive at worst. The dust collectors point toward an internal airflow problem(as does the general design) and I imagine a lot of people 8-12 months after launch will start having their PS5's overheat because of clogging. I live somewhere very hot and dusty and do not want to be cleaning my console every few months so it's a shame that seems to be exactly what they want me to do(On a side note, unless you want to brick your console, NEVER vacuum it's internals. This dude gave some very bad advice there). The XSX's cooling solution is far more robust and the PS5 generates a lot more heat so I imagine the PS5 will have a lot more issues in this department.
That SSD slot is very dumb and I do not understand why they just didn't go with the expansion card route. They have one expansion slot and you have to tear into your console if you want to swap it. Not very thought out. I'll probably buy the largest and fastest drive I can and just stick it in there forever.
This was a perfectly adequate breakdown and we should have gotten it back in March. What exactly was the purpose of waiting this long? They didn't really show us anything that we didn't already know about.
Tech demos are not determined by length, Ryse was a 6 hour tech demo and Astro Playroom is by every definition a tech demo as it's entire purpose is to show off the tech of the Dualsense and PS5. We get it, the launch lineup is weak as hell. These articles attempting to imply otherwise are getting embarrassing.
@naruball I know you are being sarcastic but I will respond anyway. Physical has taxes applied to it. A $59.99 game costs $59.99 digital but physically will cost $65-$70 with tax depending on where you live. Discounts, etc are a wash as they happen both physically and digitally.
Used games hurt the industry and if you buy them you are a huge part of the problem with modern gaming.
@Menchi I would assume it only supports the same formats that the PS4 supports for games(I think Dolby Digital/DTS) or they would have mentioned otherwise when they talked about their 3D audio solution. They have not said anything about it so we'll likely only know after launch.
I've never played or even heard of this series but this looks like a lot of fun. It reminds me a lot of the Dead Rising games. I noticed they added some other Yakuza games onto game pass so I may have to check them out.
I imagine both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will outsell their predecessors by at least a factor of 2:1 their first year and probably for their entire lifespans.
@thedevilsjester I will also be waiting for the next gen version although that is entirely because I will be playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla for the 3-6 months after launch.
From what I've read these are purported to be soft-touch/sensors and not real buttons but they could be actual physical buttons I guess. It'd be nice if we were told this information as part of a console teardown but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen.
@Stragen8 I don't know if they've talked about it but I imagine there has to be lots of heavily detailed interiors because the map is pretty small for a modern game(about half the size of GTA V's map).
@Tacktful Uh nope, not sure where you pulled that from. The PS4's OS and UI were shown off over the summer of 2013 after the PS4's showcase at E3. It was heavily detailed at Gamescom 2013, over 3 months before launch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaPoLJyDZmM
@Menchi So what are all these PS5's that have been and are being manufactured getting loaded with? Some barebones kernel with no actual operating system? You're suggesting the PS5 will have a day one OS install of several hundred gigabytes over the internet that an end user will have to do with no UI?
@MS7000 They promised a revolutionary UI last year and we haven't heard anything about it sense. The best place for them to show it off would have been the showcase before pre-orders went live. Now we are 5 weeks from launch and they aren't even showing people who have preview consoles. Something is not right here. Either Sony actually thinks their UI will be the most revolutionary thing about their new console or there are issues with it they are still working out.
Always online connection requirements are fine(we live in 2020 not 1999) but this "game" is perhaps the most pointless title I've ever seen. Looter shooters are already on their way out and this seems like a version of one completely lacking in anything new or interesting. It will go the way of Anthem, perhaps even more forgettable.
After watching these "first impression" videos I'm very concerned and disappointed. I hope we get some real game impressions and some much needed information about this console sometime in the next 4 weeks before launch.
@nessisonett And before that the Xbox 360 controllers had a similar scheme. I don't know why this is in an article right now though, Sony told us this information about the Dualsense like a year and a half ago.
@NEStalgia It was dropped on modern consoles because less than 1% of people actually use local multiplayer so it is a useless feature.
@Bentleyma- HZD is an RPGlite/action RPG/casualRPG/whatever you want to call them with a focused linear narrative and a static character. I want true massive epic RPGs where you create your character and make choices that alter the gameplay and plot substantially. I do enjoy HZD and will get HFW when it comes out but they aren't games I will drop 1000's of hours into like true RPG's.
@carlos82 Avowed, Fable, Starfield, and Elder Scrolls 6 are the only games announced that I have any interest in so far this gen. It's a shame Sony seems to not want to make massive open world rpgs and is focusing on short linear cinematic games. I was expecting a lot more.
@Futureshark I just looked this clown up and here's what he had to say about gamers not liking the end of Mass Effect 3: "That incident was a great example of what a whiny group gamers are in general, Electronic Arts handled it fine. They should have embraced the size and communicated that the size will be a trade off for SSD speed.
@Arnna I will concede that their companies business practices are more consumer friendly than the majority of developers out there. I imagine that comes from the companies structure, CD Projekt isn't just a video game publisher, they do all sorts of stuff.
Also on a side note when looking that up I found a quote from the president of the company who said they would never sell it as that would go against their companies philosophy. So I doubt Sony will be buying them anytime soon for those saying that.
@vatoelocoe I disagree entirely. Witcher 1 and 2 are below average for their time and Witcher 3 is a mixed bag, ranging from pretty fun to the most boring game I've ever played. If the Witcher 3 was actually about fighting monsters and focused on that it would be really fun but that's like 5% of the game. The vast majority of it is poorly written cutscenes and dialogue that go on forever. When I got to Undvik I was ready to snap the disc in half, during a particularly long and boring cutscene I remember screaming at the TV "Is this f*cking game over yet!" and looked up online how far I was. I wish I had a picture of my face when I saw that this was the halfway point. I stopped playing for a few days and came back to it, eventually 100%ing it because I'm a completionist but I skipped every cutscene and all the dialogue I could. Gwent was a ton of fun and is the only reason the Witcher 3 has been played by me since I beat it.
That's CDPR's entire track record so I will reserve judgement for Cyberpunk until I play it.
@rjejr It seems clear from their subsequent statements that the real reason for the change was because they wanted a more Tom Holland looking Peter in the future games and decided to just retcon the original version while they had the chance.
