Great interview. I was waiting on Push Square to cover this - I'd recommend any God of War fan to watch the whole thing!
Kaptain Kuba has some amazing GoW content, it's so cool that these two blokes came and had a chat.

I feel like the first game teases and sets up so many incredible stories that it's almost impossible to wrap them up satisfactorily in just one more game... But they've earned my trust. And I'm not a writer.

It's just ripe for some enhancements. It runs at 1080p 30fps but still holds up so well. Still looks really good. Just imagine what 4k 60fps with some ray tracing could look like!?

Yes. So late 2022/2023 is when we'll truly start to see what this gen is capable of.
And I don't mean just 4K 120FPS and reflections in puddles.
I'm hoping for innovative game design and better AI, the like that is impossible on the last gen.

But I remember watching all of the trailers for God of War 2018 for the first time, but after I finished the game. I thought they were meh. They couldn't possibly capture the brilliance of the game in a few trailers.

I got a month free with my PS5 and got a couple of games from the collection, but the monthly games weren't interesting so didn't renew.
Not saying I won't be back, though.

I'm surprised a PS5 price increase hasn't happened sooner, tbh. It's basic economics: supply drops so prices rise. The supply of PS5s plummeted but the £450 price has stuck around (retail only, obv).

It might be too late as supply seems to be improving but never say never with Sony

Unrelated but I have to say this.
I still have my PS3 hooked up to the same TV as my PS5, and I still own the PS3 version of ME2. I put them both on side by side and I couldn't believe the transformation. I never really appreciated it until then.
Just marvellous and everything I hoped for.

If he's really telling me that, graphics etc aside, all their ideas for the game were included on both consoles, then it doesn't sound like they were very ambitious.
Of course, I know nothing and the game isn't even out yet but this is my read on this.

I'm sure EA are absolutely rattled at the news. Hell of a coup for Konami. Lol

I was thinking the same. The fallout from a delay would be
A - expected because let's face it, nobody took "2021" seriously when it was teased
B - not controversial considering less than 10% of the PS4 population has a PS5.

I just hope HFW comes out this year because I'm getting bored of playing enhanced versions of games I've already played.

Fundamentally it sounds like they enjoyed the game but didn't think it was perfect, which is in line with most people.

But hey let's just highlight that they dared to criticise the game and curse them for it.

Nah, didn't enjoy this. Wasn't impressed by this or the PS4 game that was probably the most average game I've played in years.

Yeah my brother in law bought one before Xmas for his very demanding sons. That was £850
Also a friend of mine bought one from a scalper then sold it on for a decent profit

It could also be that the scalpers are turning the stock over very quickly to actual consumers, who are then buying new games to go with their shiny £800 PS5.

That being said, I expect Atreus to be a playable character for at least some parts of the story. If he's not I'd be very surprised

There's an interesting trend going on with video games trying to move on from established and well-liked characters, onto newer and less developed ones.

We've seen it recently to varying levels of success with Marvel's Spiderman, Marvel's Avengers, Mass Effect, TLOU2, and others I can't recall now.
I'm expecting to see this continue with God of War and there will be others I'm sure.

Personally I'm not as interested in a DC Universe game that doesn't include Batman, especially as thus far the narrative experience doesn't look as strong as the Arkham games. But I'm willing to give it a try as a single player game.

This is complete bullcrap - and a major reason why I wouldn't even consider getting a digital only console.
I got my refund through Amazon with no questions asked. Sony and CDPR can go to hell with their dodgy policies and deceitful statements.

The people who are lamenting how unfinished this game is are some of the same people who were furious that the game got delayed.

So this is consistent with the rumours and news: that the vanilla consoles needed extensive work after going gold, just to bring them to some level of acceptability.

What is really going on here: is demand as ridiculously high as the headlines say, or is a constrained supply network the main factor in play?

The way in which HZD and Spiderman MM were suddenly announced as PS4 titles was out of the blue and not consistent with what Sony have been telling us about "generations" until now.

I won't even get into the pre-order debacle. Clearly the PS5 communication strategy has not been good enough and they're rightly getting stick for it.

Incredible to think that in 2021, developers will still be releasing games on hardware that was designed in/before 2013 😳

I'll be really frank; if any of you truly believe that this event should not have been cancelled for the reasons given, then you are part of the problem.

Could someone clarify this for me please:

My thinking is next gen games are going to be bigger, more detailed and resultingly, more demanding on the hardware.
Surely then, the speed increase Sony keeps shouting about will be non existant by the time, say, a GTA 6 comes out?
It's all well and good showing us how fast Spiderman, a PS4 game, runs on PS5 but what about a true next gen open-world beast?
