I don't know if I'd call 2 main games, 1 remaster, 1 Lego version and 1 online version 'milking' the franchise if this has all taken place over 9 years.
How many CoDs do we get in that time? Fifa? 2K games? Assassin's Creed? Come on
Also found it impossible to do the data transfer. My old 'fat' PS5 is usually wired but I connected it and my Pro to the same WiFi, with them connected via ethernet to each other.
The transfer wouldn't work on 3 attempts, despite my download/upload speed being 700mbps+. In the end I just transferred everything apart from installed games/apps which worked. Re-downloaded my games/apps when back on ethernet and job done.
As much as I agree that the writing was bland, I'm still really disappointed with this. I can't bring myself to replay the story again but I'd have paid whatever for DLC.
Man, I BEEN waiting for this. Can't believe it's been 4 years and we've barely heard a peep. I get the feeling 2025-2026 is gonna be a feast for gamers.
PS5 Pro wasn't really made for games like this though, was it? It's made for games where you prefer 60fps but consequently have to suffer a drop in image quality. Ratchet & Clank is not one of those. Loads of other games are. I'm certain it'll be worth it.
@Shalooda From how what you're wearing impacts your visibility depending on the weather or environment, to how loud your movement is depending on your speed or the weather. Or how the enemy adapts to your tactics by wearing more night vision goggles if you always attack at night. Plenty of more mechanics which are really cool.
It's not perfect, but dude it is miles ahead of 'Star Wars Outlaws'
At one point I was so buying this game. Then all the trailers looked progressively worse which put me off.
Right now, I'm playing MGSV for the first time and the stealth mechanics are incredible. I can't go from that level of stealth to what I've seen in Outlaws, no matter how many bugs they squash.
Considering how many songs Rockstar need for this game, I'm genuinely curious about what people think would be a more reasonable offer?
Google says there were 441 songs in GTA 5. Let's assume this game is bigger and they go for 500 songs. Multiply that by 7500 and you've got $3.75m as an assumed total music budget.
In that context, I reckon Rockstar could afford to quadruple the offer for every song, bringing the fee to $30k and total budget to $15m and they'd STILL make their money back within 2 literal minutes of the release.
$30k is probably still gonna piss artists off though. So what's a reasonable solution?
"Concord would go on to connect players in new and innovative ways, of course – as it was met with a level of disdain and indifference on a scale we’ve never seen before"
@McTwist I love Arkham Knight to death. It was a true labour of love from Rocksteady. You can tell it was made by people who had both the talent and passion for the material and that reflected on the end product.
Not having a high quality boss fight was unforgivable, though. They must've ran out of time because it is inexplicable. That is the one and only fault the game has in my eyes.
Anyway, it's so sad to see what has become of the studio.
@Deoxyr1bose I agree with a lot of this. Imagine if TLOU 2 could've been ported to PS3? Unthinkable, right? The fact that 'current gen exclusives' can be ported to the PS4 speaks a lot about this gaming generation.
For a site full of 'hardcore' Sony fans, it's shocking how few of you actually get it.
The single player games we all love are taking longer and costing more than ever to make.
If we want Sony to keep churning them out while hitting our quality demands, games like these NEED to succeed because they have the potential to generate enormous profits.
Jim Ryan gets a lot of heat in these parts but he identified the problem and offered a solution. Sony needs more live service games in order to continue to develop high quality single player games. It's as simple as that.
I mean, he has to say that. Don't know if he's right or wrong. Don't know if the Eurogamer previewer is right or wrong either. We'll see we're the prevailing opinion is when it releases. I hope it's as awesome as it looks.
Anyone else questioning their identity as a gamer? I haven't truly looked forward to ANYTHING or properly loved any game in quite some time. Think I'm getting too old for this
"In the four years PS5 has been on the market, it’s amassed $10 billion in operating income, more than the $9 billion PS4 managed between 2013 to 2019."
Having looked at the presentation, I don't believe these figures are adjusted for inflation. Sure, 2013-2019 wasn't that long ago but I think inflation will eat into the $1bn difference between the PS4 period and the PS5 period.
So here's an example of the problem Digital Foundry say we have with the PS5 Pro. A 10% CPU upgrade won't be of much help in situations like this. I hope they're wrong.
Live service games aren't going anywhere. They make too much money; money that Sony will need to keep investing in our beloved, but increasingly expensive single player games.
This DLC is absolutely amazing. In some ways, it has what Ragnarok is missing. I don't know if it's the more focused story or the setting, but there's just something about it that I can't put my finger on yet. Absolute 10/10 and my personal gaming highlight of 2023.

Yeah, CDPR haven't forgotten. Why would they bother support Sonys mid-gen refresh for free, when they could opt not to and leave Sony hanging?
Sucks for gamers though.

The saltiness in this comments section is just... Wow.
Anyway, I think Ragnarok on the Pro looks just as good as this. It's comparable to a high-end PC, it's that spectacular.
