Wow. That isn't DLC, it's a new game. Looks great, I missed this one and it seems like a good thing I did. Can anyone comment on the original game and what it was like?
@Jenny_Jones you mention it's about 30 hours or so. Is that with all side content, some, or main-lining the game? I recently finished CrossCode and it was about 30 hours without much side content (and easy mode, don't judge!). Any difficulty sliders?
Shows on 6/16 a player count of 1077. Quote from the reddit citing to dreamstats.me:
"You can track it on https://dreamstats.me/globalstats. The last 24 hours was min ~400 and max ~1200" — /u thyongamer · Another quote from a redditor, /uTee-A-tomas, "Saturday and Sunday are the most popular days, Sunday's high for play count is usually 1400-1600." That was seven months ago.
It seems like a consensus that 1,200 is an average peak player base, making the average lower. I also think it's safe to assume the player base is shrinking, not expanding.
@themcnoisy I have. Paid for early access when it released. I don't doubt that people are doing amazing things, but it's under utilized, under promoted, and under appreciated. They have been trying to get it going for years now and it's not working.
Media Molecule (MM) has been working on Dreams since 2012 (or earlier) and exclusively Dreams since Tearaway (2013, 2015 for unfolded). Six years of exclusively working on this, nine years total. Less than 1,000 people routinely play the game.
In the same timespan we have got: -Insomniac: Ratchet and Clank (two of them, three if you count Into the Nexus), Spider-Man (two of them), Sunset Overdrive, Stormlands, Song of the Deep, etc; and
-Naughty Dog: Last of Us (two of them), Uncharted re-release, four, and lost legacy.
I realize that many other studios have only had a game or two come out — and they may be staffed better than MM. But it's time to free up MM to make other games. Not hating, just want them to have a chance to create another game.
@ShogunRok What games would you compare it to? Also, how is the length of the game? Some games nowadays seem to stretch a 15 hour game to 30 just so they can justify a price tag. I'm looking at you Days Gone!
@Gatatog unsolicited advice, you're invincible while grappling. I would move, fire some secondary fire, stay a moment or two then dash/jump and grapple to the other side of the room.
@thedevilsjester I agree, as mentioned in my comment. But I do agree that the 8/10 has a different meaning/feel to it than the written review of a "great game." These things are mostly meaningless, but fun to discuss.
@get2sammyb 8/10 under your scale is "Great," which is what this game appears to be based on your review and others. However, if I got an 80/100 on a project in school or at work, I'd be disappointed. Perhaps the issue is inflation in our normal lives or the number doesn't reflect your real feelings.
Unfortunately outside of Fall out, doom, and elder scrolls, the other games don’t sell well. It’s like Metroid, loved but not as good on sales. And, IMO, Fall Out has been getting worse and I wonder if Elder Scrolls can come back with something amazing again. High expectations will be hard to translate to success.
The headline of the article is a little misleading. He didn’t mention anything about PS5, but, to me, the title implies that GoW:R will be a PS5 exclusive. Likely an unintentional oversight.
20 intelligence and legendary hacks (ping, contagion, suicide) mean you clear entire rooms and buildings in under a minute. Add cool for more stealth, easy mode
What are the various embargo’s and when do they lift? How long is the battery life of the dual sense? How does it vary between a game heavily using its features (Astro) and a regular game (Miles)? Themes? Customization?
It gave me errors on the code, then, once past that after 15 min of clicks, it gave me errors on the address. Another 15 min or clicks and I got it through. So either wait, as stated above, or keep clicking.
This hurts the Series X|S lineup. It was the one of the few "next gen" game to play and is now a month after launch. Better delayed than rushed, but stinks they can't nail the landing for Game Awards and Black Friday.
@nessisonett sorry you had those issues. I played through 2+ times getting the plat and never had more than a rock with meh textures once in a blue moon.
@nessisonett I couldn't disagree more. Yes there was some texture issues here and there, but the game was beautiful. It's rare to have a game come out that polished out the gate these days. This is one of my GOTYs for sure.
@RBMango exactly! And, IMO, the need to have the feature decreases dramatically when games launch in 20 seconds instead of several minutes. I rarely bounce between game’s and its only two at most.
This is just a big deal for the media, not the normal guy/girl.
I expected it to be similar, but this has me blown away. It's similar in the best way and innovates with the SSD. This will make bouncing around to different levels, trophy hunting, and quality of life things so much easier. No more having your computer up to find collectables. Awesome work Sony!
@MarcG420 you missed my point. Making the saves compatible with the PS4 version is similar to (and should be easier than) BC. Placing your character at the same point in the story, with the same abilities unlocked, in this remastered, but structurally the same, world shouldn't be a heavy lift. Yeah frame rate, loads, assets, are all changed. I don't think it should be free (your assumption), but I do think bringing a save forward should be a feature for a launch game. It's another negative news beat for them, which feels unnecessary.
I love remakes and remasters--I'm all for them. No need to make assumptions and get aggressively defensive. Have a good day.
@Matroska I agree with you that BC isn't as big of a deal. It isn't for me, and it isn't for most gamers. However, I see the saves carrying over as part of the same technology. And, while I personally don't care, them not being able to figure out saves carrying over is unbelievable. Have a good day.
I've very forgiving of Sony, but this is unacceptable. It doesn't affect me, I've got the Plat, but how can they not figure this out? Microsoft is running circles around them with backwards compatibility. I can't wait to swing around as Miles.
@Clucja Thanks! I missed that, or forgot it in my PS5 hype. I'm more curious about how PS5 will improve my VR experience. I would assume it would make it substantially better.
I'd love to see the UI and was expecting it yesterday, but in retrospect, it was a great choice to focus on games, price, and the PS Plus collection. I agree with @get2sammyb that they need to keep the market beats coming and we need to see the UI in the coming weeks.
One thing I don't see people talking about is the Gamepass model incentives micro-transactions to make their money. I've yet to see this lead to an amazing game too. So mediocred games with micro-transactions vs. 70 dollar blockbuster first-party games. I prefer the latter.
I've also been wondering how Gamepass is sustainable. I'd be curious if they are taking a loss on it to gain market share.
@RBMango I couldn't disagree more. Though I respect the difference of opinion. We saw the game, we saw gameplay, and we know what they are about. Games like Miles were great, as we needed to see gameplay.

Re: PS4 Metroidvania Death's Gambit Gets Gigantic Overhaul with Free Afterlife Update
@BloodNinja Thanks. Sounds like it will be a huge upgrade. I hope it delivers and they have the sales to justify that amount of work.
Thanks for the feedback and The Messenger is an awesome game.

@get2sammyb Penguin, cool, I see what you did there.
Re: Hands On: Media Molecule Flexes with Megapenguin Rehatched's Opening Levels in Dreams
I wish Media Molecule would move on and make another game. Seems like a decade wasted on Dreams. Fun, creative, but never took off.
Re: Housemarque's Future Games Under Sony May Be 'Even Bigger' Than Returnal
