Re: Hands On: Media Molecule Flexes with Megapenguin Rehatched's Opening Levels in Dreams

@themcnoisy It's hard to tell. I pulled from:

https://dreamstats.me/globalstats

Shows on 6/16 a player count of 1077. Quote from the reddit citing to dreamstats.me:

"You can track it on https://dreamstats.me/globalstats. The last 24 hours was min ~400 and max ~1200" — /u thyongamer
·
Another quote from a redditor, /uTee-A-tomas, "Saturday and Sunday are the most popular days, Sunday's high for play count is usually 1400-1600." That was seven months ago.

It seems like a consensus that 1,200 is an average peak player base, making the average lower. I also think it's safe to assume the player base is shrinking, not expanding.

Re: Hands On: Media Molecule Flexes with Megapenguin Rehatched's Opening Levels in Dreams

@themcnoisy I have. Paid for early access when it released. I don't doubt that people are doing amazing things, but it's under utilized, under promoted, and under appreciated. They have been trying to get it going for years now and it's not working.

Media Molecule (MM) has been working on Dreams since 2012 (or earlier) and exclusively Dreams since Tearaway (2013, 2015 for unfolded). Six years of exclusively working on this, nine years total. Less than 1,000 people routinely play the game.

In the same timespan we have got:
-Insomniac: Ratchet and Clank (two of them, three if you count Into the Nexus), Spider-Man (two of them), Sunset Overdrive, Stormlands, Song of the Deep, etc; and

-Naughty Dog: Last of Us (two of them), Uncharted re-release, four, and lost legacy.

I realize that many other studios have only had a game or two come out — and they may be staffed better than MM. But it's time to free up MM to make other games. Not hating, just want them to have a chance to create another game.

Re: PS5's Deathloop Gets Gorgeous Game Informer Cover

Unfortunately outside of Fall out, doom, and elder scrolls, the other games don’t sell well. It’s like Metroid, loved but not as good on sales. And, IMO, Fall Out has been getting worse and I wonder if Elder Scrolls can come back with something amazing again. High expectations will be hard to translate to success.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed into December

Bdbrady

This hurts the Series X|S lineup. It was the one of the few "next gen" game to play and is now a month after launch. Better delayed than rushed, but stinks they can't nail the landing for Game Awards and Black Friday.

Re: Fans Are Trying to Figure Out if PS5 Has Quick Resume

Bdbrady

@RBMango exactly! And, IMO, the need to have the feature decreases dramatically when games launch in 20 seconds instead of several minutes. I rarely bounce between game’s and its only two at most.

This is just a big deal for the media, not the normal guy/girl.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of the PS5 UI?

Bdbrady

I expected it to be similar, but this has me blown away. It's similar in the best way and innovates with the SSD. This will make bouncing around to different levels, trophy hunting, and quality of life things so much easier. No more having your computer up to find collectables. Awesome work Sony!

Re: Your Marvel's Spider-Man Saves Can't Be Carried Over to the PS5 Remaster

Bdbrady

@MarcG420 you missed my point. Making the saves compatible with the PS4 version is similar to (and should be easier than) BC. Placing your character at the same point in the story, with the same abilities unlocked, in this remastered, but structurally the same, world shouldn't be a heavy lift. Yeah frame rate, loads, assets, are all changed. I don't think it should be free (your assumption), but I do think bringing a save forward should be a feature for a launch game. It's another negative news beat for them, which feels unnecessary.

I love remakes and remasters--I'm all for them. No need to make assumptions and get aggressively defensive. Have a good day.

Re: PS5 User Interface Reveal Is Coming, Says PlayStation Boss

Bdbrady

I'd love to see the UI and was expecting it yesterday, but in retrospect, it was a great choice to focus on games, price, and the PS Plus collection. I agree with @get2sammyb that they need to keep the market beats coming and we need to see the UI in the coming weeks.

Re: Sony Won't Follow Game Pass Model on PS5, Doesn't Believe It's Sustainable

Bdbrady

One thing I don't see people talking about is the Gamepass model incentives micro-transactions to make their money. I've yet to see this lead to an amazing game too. So mediocred games with micro-transactions vs. 70 dollar blockbuster first-party games. I prefer the latter.

I've also been wondering how Gamepass is sustainable. I'd be curious if they are taking a loss on it to gain market share.
