@Reyren if Sony will bundle a DLC featuring Joel and Tess, then many will probably reconsider buying TLOU remake. In fact, TLOU with Joel as the main protagonist again before meeting Ellie would be great than a remake.
@Alpha_Pulse I have Gamepass on PC but IMO PS exclusives are still the best single player games in the video game industry right now. I can never put down a PS game once I played it, however it's nice to have a cheaper way to play third-party games when PS exclusives are still months or years away.
@gherd We play videogames to entertain ourselves and not because we want to pledge our loyalty to these corporations. If Sony and MS could get away with charging us $100 per games they would and the fanboys will still find a way to defend this absurd company practices. Fanboy mentality comes first before logic.
@David187 it started with MLB the Show and then it snowballed to PSNow/PS+ comparison to Gamepass. I guess some articles are more suited in a forum discussion.
@Vivisapprentice I agree. the bad PR that Sony is experiencing right now will be forgotten once they release the gameplay videos of God of War Ragnarok and HFW. However, MS will stay aggressive. They have Indiana Jones, Starfield, Hellblade 2 and the rumored Kojima project in the works. 23 Studios and all Xbox exclusive games available day one on Gamepass. it looks good on paper right now.
@mucc Jim Ryan did said that there will be upcoming news, but he also mention that they already have a subscription service which is PSNow and David Jaffe is not working on Sony anymore. I would take everything with a grain of salt. if they would make a Gamepass equivalent then that would be great for gamers who are budget conscious.
@mucc Officially confirmed? if it was officially confirmed, Sony would have promoted it across all media. I highly doubt that they will put their exclusive games on PSNow day one. They could add all PS4 exclusives games to their Gamepass equivalent but that's about it.
@mucc That wouldn't happen. Sony earns more money in selling digital and physical games. The only exclusive games they added permanently on PSNow are HZD, Infamous and TLOU (PS3). That's how stingy they are with their exclusive games.
@Alpha_Pulse This is probably the reason why many people are compelled to buy both PS5 and XSX. They bought the PS5 for the exclusives and the XSX for Gamepass. Wouldn't it be great if your chosen gaming platform can provide all the things you want or need?
@strawhatcrew It's just doesn't make sense to me that I needed to pay for another service to ensure that my save file will not be corrupted or be lost on a stream only game.
The secret ending of Days Gone hinted a sequel. Sony is axing it because of the lengthy development and mixed reviews, even though it was profitable. Isn't that to be expected because it's a new IP?
Subscription services is only a cheaper alternative to play games. It doesn't take away your ability to purchase the games you want. it actually saves me from buyers remorse.
@Mince Most third-party games on GP stays in the library for a year but it can vary, while the games on PSNow last between 6 months to 3 months. Even Days Gone only stayed on PSNow for only 3 months and then it becomes a PS+ game for the second time around.
@awp69 Many people in the PS community assumes that Gamepass only have old games, but the most of the games they wanted to be added to PSNow are already on Gamepass. Every month you would see Fallen Order, Hellblade, Nier Automata, Doom Eternal, Outer Worlds in their wishlist.
@strawhatcrew For starters, PS5 owners cannot play PS5 version of cross-gen games on PSNow and it doesn't have a cloud save, unless you have PS+.
I lost all of my save file on a stream only game on PSNow. Sony's customer support told me that I needed PS+, so I can upload my save file on PSNow to the cloud storage and they have no way to recover my save file that was lost. Why do we need to have two services that overlaps games and features such as cloud storage?
Sony should greenlit Days Gone 2 instead of remaking TLOU. I'm guessing that they want to cross promote it with TLOU live action but it feels unnecessary.
@Royalblues if Sony will create a Gamepass equivalent. Many naysayers of gaming subscription services in the Playstation community will proclaim it as the best thing ever 🤣
This is one of the games in my wishlist, but I will wait for Sony to port this game on PC (if ever). Returnal is what a metroidvania game would look with AAA budget.
@munstre What kind of nonsense is this? PS5 users doesn't even need an upgrade because there is a PS5 version available in the PS Store. How incompetent is that? The PS5 has been out since November and yet Sony failed to prepare PSNow for the next-gen console.
"And no, Sony did not overlook ''Smart Delivery (TM)'' because they don't care about preserving games and they are evil and they hate you!" What kind of adult writes stuff like this?
What gigantic re-engineering are you talking about? Sony is creating new consoles every generation. they could engineer it to support backwards compatibility if they wanted, but they decided against it every single time.
Smart Delivery functionality is to ensure that all your games will run across generations in their best version possible, either it was optimized or upgraded for the next-gen. If you think this feature is not about preserving games then I don't know what you're talking about.
No one needs to be great at investing to know that time-exclusivity and locking contents from other platform is shady af. It doesn't add any value to the games nor will it attract Xbox or PC gamers to buy Playstation consoles. In fact, they hated Sony for this.
@munstre Are you serious? The developers are offering free upgrades for PS4 games. Playstation's DRM system is just flawed. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony overlooked the functionality of Smart Delivery, when they were developing the PS5 because they don't believe in preserving games.
Sony is not even investing their money wisely because most of it involves shady practices. they paid developers for time-exclusivity deals and lock contents from other platforms instead of scouting gaming studios for acquisition.
@Col_McCafferty I'm not saying Sony should launch their exclusive games on PSNow because it doesn't make financial sense to them, but many people in here are annoyed that Sony cannot provide even the most basic features in their subscription service.
PS+ is giving away cross-gen games but the only version available is the PS5 and it is the same with PSNow but the opposite. Sony should really create a feature similar to Smart Delivery. Backwards compatibility and upgrading games should be seamless but instead we have this cobweb style of accessing different generations of games.
@Col_McCafferty It doesn't bother you but you're willing to downplay other people's criticism about PS+/PSNow. If Sony is going to create a Gamepass equivalent, then they will certainly match the monthly subscription price offered from their competition. And I'm not reliant on subscription services because I still do buy games.
@Col_McCafferty Stop being a company shill. Everyone in here has valid criticism because they buy PS software and hardware products. Most people in here are unhappy that the competition is offering more value to their subscription services. They only want the product to be better and not stagnate the way it is right now.
@thefourfoldroot Gamers who joins subscription services usually gets the 12 month library access. I think its safe to say that you can finish the games you want to play within that time period. You can still buy the games on the subscription service anyway, its not like the PS and Xbox store will prevent you from buying them just because you're a member of PSNow or Gamepass.
@Serialsid Sony has been quietly lately but then they will just blew away people with their presentation/announcement which works for them most of the time. The bad PR they have right now will be gone once they released a gameplay video of HFW and God of War Ragnarok lol
@SegataSanshiro it's a good thing that I didn't gave up on DS. the first few hours was boring af but the pace eventually picks up. PS likes to lock third-party games with timed-exclusivity deals and considering I don't have a PS5 yet, it will be a pain in the butt to wait for PS5 console exclusivity deals to expire.
I didn't know that Sony was unhappy with DS sales figure. I know Kojima said that they managed to breakeven the production cost. Now, I'm worried for Housemarque with Returnal.
@Serialsid I think Deathloop and Ghostwire are only timed console exclusives, so there's a possibility that MS could add these games on Gamepass PC and xCloud which are totally different platforms. MS didn't announced that MLB the Show and Outriders will be coming to Gamepass until it was only two weeks away before launch.
Imagine if Death Standing comes to Gamepass PC. 505 games is the publisher of DS on PC and not Sony, and there are rumors that Phil Spencer could be teasing a Hideo Kojima Project with MS. Another bad PR for Sony.
@SegataSanshiro Anti-aliasing, field of view, motion blur and SSAO just adds more depths to the overall picture quality of the game and playing on uncapped framerates is something you can't experience on consoles yet. RDR2 appears blurry on my PS4 Pro compared to my PC playthrough. Jim Ryan did mentioned that Sony had an incredible PS4 game line-up when he talked about releasing Days Gone on PC, so here's hoping God of War and HFW will be on PC as well.
@Serialsid Ironically, Xbox will have upcoming games with Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo but it will be timed exclusive to PS5 on launch date. MS could still put these games on Gamepass PC or xCloud if they wanted.
@SegataSanshiro I agree, you cannot have an unbiased opinion unless you try both. GPU just cross out most of the games on my PSN wishlist account. Code Vein, Fallen Order, Yakuza series, Doom Eternal, Plague Tale, Star Wars Squadron, Tales of Vesperia, The Outer Worlds and I'm playing Nier Automata again on PC. The Gears and Halo series are great but tbh I still prefer PS exclusives games lol. I'm really glad that PS is finally releasing their games on PC, now PC gamers can have both PS and Xbox games without buying a console.
@Kopite I don't know. The frame drops can be unbearable when I play it on my PS4 Pro. I haven't played it after trying the game. I should have bought it on steam but the PS4 version was cheaper at that time. Kinda regret tbh.
Borderlands 3 is almost unplayable on the PS4 Pro. There are frame drops even when my character is just moving. Avengers will probably be free on PS+ at some point. Overall it's a good month.
Nintendo doesn't even need a new IP to boost sales and I can't believe AC Valhalla is still in the top 10 while Demon's Souls and Spiderman is nowhere to be found. I think Outriders could be free to play at some point once they introduced DLC expansions just like Destiny.
@2cents Sony not wanting to push a similar subscription to Gamepass is beneficial to them and not the consumer. PR wise its bad with Outriders and MLB the Show having day one access to GP while PS owners need to buy those game, but it does make financial sense to them.
Sony agreed to the multiplatform deal because of the money they would get from it. It's plain and simple. It's not like MLB threatened Sony with a gun in their head to signed this deal. They already had the terms and conditions in place before the transaction happened.
@pharos_haven Sony has a publishing license agreement with MLB, so they could still earn royalties or any monetary payment from the GP deal as the developer of the game in the Xbox platform, but I mean who knows? Sony will probably not publish a statement about this.
@Gamer83 Why would Sony stop creating consoles just because they will be selling their exclusive games on PC? They earn 30% from any third-party games that was sold in their PS store and they are selling millions of subscriptions every year. PS consoles is just a platform for Sony to sell softwares and PC is no different from this. Exclusive games are just a portion of their overall revenue. Why do you think Sony and MS are willing to sell consoles at a loss?
