Re: PlayStation Store Now Open For Business on US PS Vitas

I picked up Little Deviants, Modnation Racers: Road Trip, WipEout 2048, and Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational at Gamestop yesterday, but I did download Super Stardust Delta from the US PSN store tonight.

One odd thing is that Little Deviants seems to have disappeared from my PSN store for some reason. I could have swore I saw it there yesterday.

Outstanding read Joe!

I kept a notebook of magazine and newspaper clippings of every piece of PlayStation news in the two years leading up to its release. I even remember walking into Montgomery Wards on the morning of the system's release and asking for it when not one clerk in the store had any idea what I was talking about. Then going home and playing Battle Arena Toshinden for the next week like a mad man. LOL

Another significant moment was the night I walked into the Electronic's Boutique store in the mall to buy Tekken 2 and saw one of the most amazing games I'd ever seen playing on the demo screen in the store window. It was Crash Bandicoot and I bought it instead. Man I loved that game. Played it into the damn dirt.

Vita will be just fine. And based on the review scores of Gravity Daze, not to mention my recent play through of several levels of the game which I can say were absolutely amazing, I'd say things are gonna be great. And let's not forget the Monster Hunter title coming later this year. That should get the Japanese gamers jumping.

Re: Review: PlayStation Vita Hardware

I love my 3DS and Vita both equally, but to me the Vita is a far more advanced piece of gaming technology, really from top to bottom. It's far more capable in the processing department, has a much larger and more vibrant screen, and has two tilting analog sticks, not a bulky plastic add-on.

That being said, the 3D display and the Nintendo franchises are enough to keep me coming back to the 3DS, and judging from the upcoming 3DS titles, it's an exciting time to be a 3DS owner.

But ultimately, it's going to depend on what games you want to play and what type of portable gaming experience you're looking for as to which system will appeal to you.

In all seriousness, both cameras are very similar as far as image quality goes. I've done some side-by-side tests, and it's so close, it's tough to tell which one is better. To me, the Vita camera produces a much more focused image and functions better in lower light conditions, whereas the 3DS image seems to have slightly more vibrant colors, but needs better lighting.

The "step up" that I spoke of mainly revolves around the test I did between the 3DS augmented reality games and Little Deviants on the Vita. And that camera difference is fairly significant with the backgrounds produced by the Vita camera being extremely impressive.

As for the Ferrari comment, that was made in comparison to both handhelds, not a $600 or $700 smartphone that features no physical buttons or analog sticks.

I've played the demo off and on for the past week and I have to say, this is one trippy game. Very cool visual style and the gameplay is really cool once you get a grip on it. Can't wait to see what the rest of the game holds in store.

Re: New Gravity Rush Video Lifts Off

We're still very early on and already the doom and gloom stories are popping up, just like they did with 3DS. We've got a long way to go in this console race and if Sony can dig the PS3 out of the dump after their $600 launch price debacle, they can do anything.

People that know video games and love them know the difference between Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Cut the Rope. Sony and Nintendo just have to make sure that the games rolling out for their systems are worth the much higher price tag. No more free passes anymore.

And back to Gravity Daze, I just played the demo that went up on the Japanese PSN yesterday and it's one freaky and amazing game. I'll have impressions soon.

This was one of my favorite games at E3. Gorgeous visuals, smooth framerate, and some of the best use of the Vita's many control variations at the show. That being said, LittleBigPlanet was pretty amazing too.

Re: More Than 80 Vita Games In the Works Right Now

There are quite a few games I have on my radar right now, but if I had to pick a handful of Vita titles I'm most looking forward to, it would probably be these.

1. Hot Shots Golf 6
2. Little Deviants
3. LittleBigPlanet
4. Gravity Daze
5. Lumines

Re: Talking Point: Could Vita's Delay Have Beneficial Results?

Corbs

I have no doubt that the launch lineup will be better with the delay, but I still think missing the 2011 holiday season is a mistake. Not just because the Vita won't be available, but because it leaves the Christmas shopping season wide open for a now very affordable 3DS system.

Re: PS Vita Doubles as a PS3 Controller

The one thing this system does not feel is rushed. I was shocked at how polished the games they showed at E3 on the system were. Most of them looked ready to roll right then and there.

Enjoyed playing the demo levels at E3 and this will likely be the first game I'll be popping into my Vita on launch day. Guaranteed!

Re: Review: Sports Champions (PlayStation 3)

Nothing wrong at all with having a differing opinion. I tried to be thorough in going over the various events in the game and not constantly compare them to Wii Sports Resort, but when I began writing it up, I couldn't help but feel the game fell below what I had been expecting. I love the Move controller and I can't wait to see what developers do with it in the coming months, however.

Re: Review: Sports Champions (PlayStation 3)

I'd have to disagree with that statement. Motion controls are a gimmick, whether they be on a Wii or a PS3. The Move controller is very precise and fun to use, but it wasn't that much better and didn't offer that much more depth than that of the Wii Remote and Wii Motion Plus. This package was also nowhere nearly as content rich or fun to play as Wii Sports Resorts, something I found a bit surprising considering this is a $40 retail release technically.
