Re: Why Won't Sony Allow You to Subscribe to EA Access on PS4?

Demi_God

@Paranoimia As you said...

"This strikes me as just a first step in EA & co's solution to "no more online passes", and effectively bringing in Microsoft's hated XBone DRM policies by the back door, in a more subtle manner. You'll be required to be online to sign in and play these games."

that is exactly what they are doing.

Re: Why Won't Sony Allow You to Subscribe to EA Access on PS4?

Demi_God

@Jazzer94 No it didn't, the reason it seems that way is because it's the beginning of the PS4 cycle. PS+ started very late for Sony's PS3, so there were a lot of games that could be released down the road for free and some big named ones. next year will be even better for PS+ and the year after that as well.

Re: Shu Yoshida Hopes Rise of the Tomb Raider Releases on PS4 Eventually

I wonder if SE and MS kept this all a secret, that could be why no one else knew about this. As stupid as SE is, I wouldn't put it past them to skip over Sony for smaller sales. MS is tossing money around like last year which still didn't help them, they are doing it again this year.

I'll make a bet, in a couple of years from now, MS and the top honchos in the Xbox division are going to have a little meeting and that meeting is going to be "we won't make another console, instead, we will license out stuff we already own the rights to which in turn will generate more money for Microsoft". Just sit back and watch.

Microsoft isn't throwing money at SE to buy Tomb Raider exclusivity because it's a system sell, which it's NOT. They just did it to keep it off the Playstation platform as well as the PC. This is the mistake that MS did, this game will not move units for them. I'm sorry but SE just screwed themselves and MS screwed themselves as well.

Both MS and SE are in a catch 22 situation. In fact, this is a wonderful example of catch 22 because none of this makes any sense at all, it's quite pointless. No matter what happens now since all the contracts went through, there isn't a good outcome at all.

I think that EA access is a total rip-off. Lets think about this for a second. So now they have a game or so for free to download, how long till the next game is free to download? I ask this because EA never said anything about a monthly free game or anything of that sort. This means that you could pay $30 a year for a game or two well until the end of next year or beyond that until the next game is old enough to be free to the point where they aren't making enough sales on that game anymore, in which case it will be free.

my point is, I just don't see the reason of EA access.

@SimonAdebisi, it's pretty clear that MS built their console strictly with EA in mind it seems. So many decisions they tried to pass or ones that didn't work was more of what EA would do. EA access being on the MS makes more sense, but it doesn't mean it's actually a good subscription.

@JaxonH Game developing in general is stressful, but I've been looking around for what you say you read and I can't find it anywhere. Are you sure it was ND? because from the way you describe it, it's more like EA than ND. in fact, what you said you read about Naughty is the opposite from what I've read, which is this all the freedom they get.

I think if Sony and SE would have made this PC and Playstation exclusive, I doubt there would have been a problem at all. I think it's the fact that people believe, including me, that Microsoft did this basically for a cheap shot. Also, I wouldn't have had a problem with a move like that anyway since I'm use to these Tomb raider games being on both PC and playstation. I think Microsoft really put themselves in a hole and it's showing with gamers. They really screwed the pooch.

@Punished_Boss yeah, lol. What this kind of tells me though is that Naughty Dog is a great company to work for. Of course that guy tried to go into doing his own thing, but in the end he comes right back to Naughty Dog. I have to think that they really take care of their developers and treat them really good over there.

Re: Xbox Chief's Uncharted Adoration Motivated Tomb Raider Deal

I dont' think it makes microsoft look like a pr*ck. What it makes them look like is desparate after reading this article. It shows a huge weakness and they've had this weakness for awhile. With the Xbox 360, Microsoft should have invest that money in first party studios and hired people, but instead they threw money at 3rd party developers for those exclusives. Now, they were successful, but that success isn't going to last forever. They never really invested their money properly and relied on a couple of big names to push the system. While it worked since the first Xbox, it's kind of vanishing now for them. I don't think MS is going to turn it around, all they will do is add more apps to the Xbox One. They don't get it and they never will.

They should stick with what works, Windows and Office.

Re: Xbox Chief's Uncharted Adoration Motivated Tomb Raider Deal

Are those people working in the Xbox division trying to get it shut down? I can't help but think that is the case. They've been tossing money around carelessly, They've been basically saying positive news for Sony's PS4 system and the games. Sooner or later they are going to end up at Microsofts round table where they are going to dissect the Xbox division and license everything in that division out.

It's like a horrible car accident that is about to happen, but you can't turn away, instead you watch the head on collision and it feels like it's in slow motion. o.O

I don't think anyone said it was all kojima, it's the entire team that is put together to form this game, Guillermo del Toro, Norman Reedus, and Hideo Kojima. Fact is, Hideo Kojima is a big name in gaming and the fact that he is actually involved in another big game other than MGS is HUGE.

I personally don't care for Kojima as I think he is very much a giant drama queen as he is a developer and it's because of his back and forth with the MGS series and his depressing attitude in general with last gen. on past articles with him in it. I've wanted to see Hideo Kojima participate in new projects, but he kept going right back to MGS, which made me rolls my eyes every single time. With that being said, I can say FINALLY!

Re: Soapbox: Why P.T. Has Me Petrified at the Prospect of Silent Hills

oh yeah, I have surround sound in my living room and when you hear "Turn around", it comes from behind me and guess what, there isn't a wall there, it's a railing, so something could hover in the main entrance of my house. o.O

really though, when a door slightly opens up and there are no lights on to see anything in that room, I literally cringe the closer I get to that door.

Re: Soapbox: Why P.T. Has Me Petrified at the Prospect of Silent Hills

First person gives more immersion to the horror atmosphere. 3rd person not so much. also, for this type of game they are trying to create with such a huge ammount of suspense, 3rd person will take a lot of that away. I hate 3rd person, I freakin hate it.

So if you were to turn around in 3rd person to see a creature in your characters face, it's not going to scare you nearly as much as in first person where the apperance is right in your face on the screen.

Re: Gamescom 2014: Sorry, PS4 Firmware Update 2.00's Share Play Has a Time Limit

Demi_God

The limitation I think is fair. They want people to buy the games, not get them for free, with that being said, 60 minutes to accomplish what they were trying to aim at with this feature is more than enough time. It's also a good way to get people to jump on board the game. After you play about 5 minutes helping someone out with a boss or having them give you a shot at it, you may be like "that was awesome, I'll pick that game up tomorrow or this weekend". But yea, 60 minutes is more than enough time for what Sony set out to accomplish with this feature and it wasn't to pass the game down for others to play for hours on end.
