Re: Features: PlayStation Move Buyer's Guide

James

I don't think two ratings would work - it would be confusing for readers, I believe. Our review text will always describe the controls and state whether they're good or not, far better than a score could do.

Another feature on games to show off Move sounds good to me though!

Re: Features: PlayStation Move Buyer's Guide

I read Kung Fu Live was rubbish and you shouldn't touch it with a ten-foot Move controller, so I for one am happy not to be covering it here.

Perhaps we should rename this guide to "Great Games That Are Move-Compatible Rather Than Great Move Games"?

Re: Features: PlayStation Move Buyer's Guide

If a game uses the Move wand, we'll review it; if it doesn't, we won't. There are plenty of games out there that use the Eye camera (Kung Fu Live, Gran Turismo, Eye of Judgement etc.) and Navigation, but if it doesn't use the Move controller - in however small a way - we won't be reviewing it. I'm sorry if that disappoints you but that's our site's raison d'etre.

If the game is a great title (Sly Cooper, NBA 2K11) we'll recommend it even if it doesn't make great use of the controllers at hand. I reviewed NBA myself so I know the Move controls are disappointing but it's one of the greatest sports games I've ever played and it would be churlish not to recommend it to anyone interested in sports.

Thanks for all your comments though!

Re: Features: PlayStation Move Buyer's Guide

Hey lipnox, thanks for your comments.

We decided not to review Kung Fu Live as it doesn't use the PlayStation Move controller, just the Eye Camera, and that's not what we're about.

As for The Fight, I'm pretty confident the US version has been patched as many of our writers are from the US. However I'll let them confirm that for you.

Thanks for your comments!

Welcome to the site Joereno and Moveman! I've also been keeping an eye on the poor reviews this game has been getting, and I'm glad you found this one helpful Joereno

Perhaps sites that gave the game a positive score should face-off with negative reviewers in the game's online mode to settle this once and for all

Re: Talking Point: What Improvements Would You Make to Move?

James

I think JDig is talking about a brand new shooter built from the ground up for Move, rather than tweaking its existing franchises to be more casual-friendly. A title designed specifically around Move from the start whilst aiming to be a bit less demanding than MAG or Killzone would be A OK in my books!

Re: Review: The Sly Collection (PlayStation 3)

James

Welcome aboard, gamerdude74! Like you, I've never actually played a Sly game, though I'm definitely curious about them now. I love a bit of classic 3D action-platforming - Mini Ninjas is a favourite! - so this looks like a good buy for me. Can't wait until December now

Re: Talking Point: What Improvements Would You Make to Move?

@JDig Welcome! Good idea too. I'm sure we'll see plenty of games like this next year - Killzone 3 and MAG are obviously aimed at very hardcore gamers, but with games like The Shoot being produced I think it shows Sony is very conscious of a wider audience. There's the potential for some really good stuff on Move, FPS-wise.

Re: Talking Point: What Improvements Would You Make to Move?

James

Welcome to our new members! Thanks for sharing your feedback on Move, and it's interesting to see many of the same issues coming up.

I think the camera is definitely lacking these days, and I'm not even convinced it was that good when it was first launched. It really struggles in low lighting and as you've all said, it just doesn't look that nice! With Sony redesigning the machine, headset etc. I'm sure they're working on an improved camera too.

Calibration is a chore too, I don't mind it in some games but with each game having different requirements it can put you off playing one game over another. Definitely not a good thing.

Re: Talking Point: What Improvements Would You Make to Move?

@danschemen No worries, you're not going to be looking at PS4 for another three or four years yet. Plenty of time!

All good suggestions guys. There definitely needs to be an on-screen cursor for certain areas - typing with Move is a nightmare! Hopefully that can be added with a software patch rather than having to wait until PS4, though

Re: The Fight: Lights Out

James

Thanks for the info Dom! I haven't tried this one yet but I'd like to give it a blast, though I understand it's not brilliant. There's supposed to be a patch on the way so hopefully that'll bump the score a little!

Re: Review: SingStar Dance (PlayStation 3)

James

The video replays make it for me. I had so much laughter over this one and to be honest the kind of person who would play this probably isn't bothered about 1:1 motion controller tracking, they just want something fun, with humiliation as a welcome bonus. If that sounds like your wife (it sounds like mine) pick it up

Re: Review: Get Fit with Mel B (PlayStation 3)

James

I'm really looking forward to giving this one a go when it's out in the UK soon. Should be ace!

I also approve of Patrick's superb effort to mention the Spice Girls by nickname in one paragraph. It reminds me of my old school days where I tried to cram in as many game names as possible into each essay!

Well I'm not the general consensus I think Lips generally has better thought-out songs, with more frequent harmony and backing work, in my opinion anyway. Both are good, I just know I prefer Lips.
