Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Vita Drops Below Wii

James

@3Above Two Mario games and Monster Hunter are doing the trick for Nintendo, plus the new Fire Emblem is selling really well. But like Savino pointed out, 3DS really struggled in its first few months and now it's unstoppable in Japan. I'm confident Vita will go through the same upswing when the big games start piling in

Re: Review: Pure Chess (PlayStation Network - Vita)

@Slaysme I think the gist is "good idea, bad execution" — when it takes a minute or two to open every move you can tell how that would really slow the game down. I know it's one of those first world problems, but if the execution were better it'd be more enjoyable

Re: Review: Sonic Generations (PlayStation 3)

James

@Knuckles I own the original Sonic Triple Trouble on Game Gear and have access to a region-free 3DS too You'll notice sometimes we get US writers to review EU games and vice versa, depending on who's the best candidate for the job. We always find a way to make it work!

Sonic 4, however, will be all mine!

Re: Preview: Dragon's Dogma - The Sleeper Hit of 2012?

James

@ShogunRok It's hard to say how big it is because this preview version ended after I reached a certain quest, so I haven't seen the full game. So far it seems more on par with Oblivion than Skyrim, which is fine by me — there's a lot of running and walking, and the day/night cycle makes it dangerous to go out at night. I certainly did a lot of travelling though, and there are lots of areas I didn't discover judging from my map!

Re: Preview: Dragon's Dogma - The Sleeper Hit of 2012?

James

@rjejr Nope, not really like Monster Hunter. This is free-roaming, quest-driven and has far less grinding. There's no lock on either but you don't need it as it's much quicker than Monster Hunter — much less position-attack-dodge and much more attack-attack-attack-dodge. I know you can hack bits off giant monsters but that's really the only similarity

@sony_70 Glad you're excited for this. I think you'll like it!

Re: Store Update: 11th April 2012 (Europe)

James

@SeVok Ripstone tells me the game's now confirmed for 18th April

@MitchConcannon The "Episodes from Liberty City" in this update is the two add-on packs "Ballad of Gay Tony" and "The Lost & Damned", but doesn't include the original GTA IV. If there's a bundle on the store, I'd wager it's all three games, but don't take that as gospel!

Re: Skullgirls Picks a Fight with PSN on 10th April

@get2sammyb It's also about how well the company handles the submission + testing process; if it's only a small team it might not have the manpower to line up all its intercontinental ducks in one go.

Anyway, it'll be worth the wait, EUers
