Re: Site News: Where's Our Cyberpunk 2077 Review?

MPaulson

@themightyant couldn't agree more, and I look forward to honest, balanced reviews from the likes of SkillUp later in the week/next week. Maybe the game WILL be great in six months time - I don't see why that should be a pass for these sites to give it great reviews in its current state TODAY. sigh

Re: Site News: Where's Our Cyberpunk 2077 Review?

@Medic_Alert exactly my view also. No coincidence that the PC reviews are the only ones out there. IMO that's a pretty ***** thing for CDPR to do as well - some innocents will take the reviews of that as 'oh it'll be the same on console' and go and pre-order before the truth comes out later in the week. And it's not as if the PC reviews are glowing anyway...a lot of them brush off the current state of the game as 'oh well few bugs but who cares, they'll sort it' when it appears to be borderline game breaking.

Sounds like they've been given a higher rating than the game deserves. Very carefully curated reviews on display here.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Map Size Estimate Suggests It's Twice as Big as GTA 5

If anyone wants to view a little driving and walking free roam on PS5, here are a couple of streams I found at 720p (not sure how long they'll last)

https://streamable.com/22uv58 (driving at night)

https://streamable.com/absqfg (walking in day)

My random thoughts? Looks smooth enough and OK, but not blown away at all. The first person movement feels very floaty, and worst of all the population density - seems to be no peds at all visible when driving, and even in day there's only a few. They've put more crowd noise on to make it sound busy, but that just conflicts when there's only a few randoms walking about.

Dunno about this game in this state.

Re: Poll: Do You Actually Play Your PS Plus Games?

MPaulson

I play most of them, although less over the past few years. This is not to do with the quality of them so much as the ever growing library of games I now own, which is turn is largely driven by ps+ and deep discounts on PSN sales!

It's why I'd never go for something like gamepass....the choice paralysis would be crazy, and that combined with the rotation of non MS stuff would make it all seem too much like work to me.

Plus at least gives me online and cloud saving on top of the games anyway. The argument that those features 'should' be free is moot because they're not ever likely to be and you either pay up or don't have online.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Is Pushing Me Ever Closer to All-Digital

MPaulson

@thefourfoldroot I'd hate to feel I have to rush through a game just to get a better price from that scum place. Take too long, few more quid lost. Nah. Prefer to take my time and not be subject to the pricing they set.

Imagine buying Cyberpunk on disc and tearing through it asap just to get a bit more cash back. Weird.

But regardless of that, I'd never want to mess about swapping discs again anyway. Even more so now, with the faster resuming, activity cards etc on PS5.

I get PSN credit with at least 20% off, usually even more, so combined with prudent purchases and the amazing PSN sales it's great value for me.

People wanting 'physical forever' are just pissing in the wind anyway, we know where this story is finishing, and it ain't with plastic discs.

Re: Soapbox: Having My PS5 Launch Day Nerfed By Amazon

MPaulson

I know this is bad for all concerned and all, but a full refund AND £150 on top of that, processed without quibbles and in a fast manner, isn't something that any consumer should be complaining about. If there is no more stock to hand out, what can they do?

Perhaps a step back and a sense of perspective would be more appropriate.

Re: DIRT 5 Next-Gen Face-Off Is Favourable for PS5

MPaulson

@AJDarkstar on Reddit there is even talk of a class action lawsuit against MS for describing it as 'the most powerful console in the world' pre-launch!

This sounds ludicrous, but it's worth noting that MS now describes it simply as 'the most powerful xbox' haha

Re: DIRT 5 Next-Gen Face-Off Is Favourable for PS5

@God_of_Nowt is the 'it's the tools' argument valid, or a deflection? Put another way, in say a years time when the APIs and tools etc are more mature, will the Series X outperform PS5 then or is it just the case that in the real world, PS5 is still likely to 'win' these kind of face-offs?
