Re: There's Been a Big Scandal About Whether PS5 Can Run Games in 4K

Mezzer

The folks that fall for this stuff are idiots. If you do your homework and your sums it's obvious the PS5 can do native 4K and 30/60....the CPU is a huge improvement over PS4 which will help with framerates and the GPU and SSD, especially SSD are a mamouth jump to.

Don't be fooled though. The series X won't be native 4k and 60 for all games... No question both these systems will hit these benchmarks.... We will also still see dynamic scaling and forms of checkerboarding....

But the guy who spouted that original statement. Typical of the keyboard warrior nature of the modern Internet.... If you know you stuff you won't fall for it...

Like most things in life..... The proof is in the pudding.

@Nepp67 COD is to me, not a game. Its a service. Monster Hunter is not my thing. I appreciate it but its again a type of service game.

I don't do online gaming or multi player. Games for me are single player.... Whether that's retro, retro influenced or big budget games like God Of War and The Last Of Us 2.

It stuns me how people find so much time?. In my teens and early 20s I could easily game for hours but not on my mid 40s. Try doing it with responsibilities(family) and composing music.... and being self employed...

This is why I still buy lots of games but getting round to playing most of them is impossible.

I owned over a 1000 games on the Snes. NTSC and Pal games... The same for most consoles of that era... Neo Geo, PC Engine and its CD version.... PSX, PS2 etc etc...pretty much owned or still own every console since the VCS and computer since the Vic 20 and C64.....

Online, multi player.... No interest at all. Digital only games, no interest. I strive for fresh games with new ideas and concepts these days.... Or games from trusted dev teams or friends in the industry.

@Nepp67 That's great that those games work for you.

I've never liked souls games.... Ever. I hate the design and progress system... I have no interest in that.

Zero Dawn 2 I have major interest in but its ages away and no gameplay was shown.

Spider Man was a pretty good game. I have no interest in super hero's but it's a first time I've seen the Batman games challenged. Miles is a spin off with the same city and engine so not too sure what to expect as its not a full game.

Ratchet, yes, that looked good but again, it's ages away and visually is not a major step over PS4 Pro.... but I would prefer to see this as a launch titles.

A few rumors doing the rounds right now is timed deals that Sony are apparently doing with multi plat games..... Why?

It says two things. They know they are thin on exclusives, let's face it... PS4 has had amazing games.... Or two they don't want people to see the comparison between the same game on Series X and PS5 as the difference maybe large?. Its a strange tactic from Sony if its true?

@SmileyK my friend. I have gamed and been around the scene from the 70s. When you have played as many games as I have, and as many that came with flawed promises.... playing games twice in modern gaming is rare. Two reasons. One I have a small family. Two a self employed business.

I also exercise daily and have been a soundtrack composer for many years.

A game has to be really amazing and fresh to capture my time. In recent times God Of War I played through twice.... and Uncharted 4.

Bare in mind I own a PS4 Pro, Scorpio edition One X and Switch.... even Nintendo have fallen into rinse and repeat releases.

Quite a few gamers will agree with my thoughts when you have played 1000s and games...

I buy alot of games. I have well over 250 on PS4....some I've hardly touched as right away I knew they were reskins of games I've played before... very easy to spot the signs.

So far I've seen no major reason to buy a PS5 or Series X. Yes, I have both on pre order and am really looking forward to PS5. Losing interest in Series X as MS is clearly going down the Gamepass route hence why they said Sony and Nintendo are not the direct competition anymore. No interest in digital services.

Ratchet looks great, Spiderman will be pretty good, some other interesting games too...but unfortunately PS4 has had Ghost Of Tsushima, The Last Of Us 2, games that stand out....PS5 games will need to hit the Wow button to tempt some people to buy. Let's see what we are to be spending our money on. Bugsnacks does not count.

Re: The Pathless Is a PS5 Open World Unlike Any Other

I actually like the look of this. Mystical and with interesting art style.

Funny how people take to twitter to slate Sony for the State Of Play even though Sony made it clear its PS4 and VR focused.

There are millions of PS4 owners out there and also to see Hitman in VR is interesting. You can't accuse Sony of supporting their products this gen.

On a side note. Godfall seems better than I thought and after yesterday's showing I am more interested than I was before.

Re: Poll: When Will You Buy a PS5?

Mezzer

Day 1. I pre registered months ago. I also have done the same for Series X but I am losing interest in MS machine as the games they are shoeing so far are not capturing my attention like Sonys.... on top of that I hate digital games and services and MS is pushing this more than ever with Gamepass. I like to own my games.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Ghost of Tsushima?

Mezzer

I am pretty sick of open world games. Especially Assassins Creed.... Sucker Punch have no doubt found freshness in its beautiful scenery, outstanding combat... Progressive upgrades and audio...

The performance and loading times are also amazing for a game so large.

As a gamer since gaming started this is a pure evolution of the genre. It may not rewrite the rule book fully but its right up the top as one of the best games this gen and another new outstanding Sony new IP.

Re: Yakuza: Like a Dragon PEGI, ESRB Ratings Skip Speculated PS5 Version

Mezzer

If its confirmed?... This is like the Tomb Raider scenario all over again. This is why I tend to dislike MS as a business. Yakuza, like Tomb Raider was hand in hand with PlayStation... I can only assume that MS threw buckets of money at the Yakuza team and have it as a trimmed exclusive...

Ridiculous.... and it's far from fair business. Yakuza built up a western user base because Sony gave it the chance...

Re: Talking Point: Did Ubisoft Forward Meet Your Expectations?

Mezzer

Very average. The new Creed lost my attention quickly. The setting is good like Odessy but that stiff animation and bland facial movement is still there.... Still seems pretty similar gameplay wise to previous too. I played a bit of the previous Creed but man I got bored and gave up... It was far too big with nothing stand out to do... Its a classic UBI problem.

Legion looked better and certainly more interesting. Again though that stiff animation routines and pretty poor facial animation and detail on lesser NPC....

It's typical UBI... Nice visuals and a good eye to detail in their game Worlds but animation, ideas and most likely bags of filler drag the games down and out....

Re: DIRT 5 on PS5 Will Have an Option for 120 Frames-Per-Second

Mezzer

@huyi so do I. LG C9 and a dolby atmos home surround set up... But many many people don't have this.

Also bare in mind. 120 only really has an advantage in fast shooters and racing games.... but remember ALLM helps also... not all Tvs have this.

I still believe most PS5 games will still be 30fps with native 4K with more games hitting 4K with 60fps...people getting too carried away with 120...which to most eyes can't be seen.

Xbox one x allows 1440p 120... Not sure if any games support it though?

Don't be too fooled by all the buzz words. Means nothing if the games are average or are not your kind of games... As a gamer from the 70s I can safely say buzz words around new systems are generally exaggerated.... Even the One X only hits native 4K on a select few games.... yet it was hailed to hit 4K on most games...

Re: Poll: Which Version of the PS5 Do You Plan to Buy?

Mezzer

Only interested in Disc based consoles. Owned every console from the 70s and I don't like digital games purchases. I understand why they are here and why people like this option... Not me though. Console and cases... I like to physically own in my hands what I buy.

Re: Gallery: Cyberpunk 2077 Screenshots Are Stunning, But How Will It Look on PS4?

Mezzer

Looking stunning in static hi res screens is one thing but the real story is how good will the game really be?.

Witcher 3 was a good game but not a great one. Voice acting was average to poor, animation was okay, although Geralts movement was terrible and un natural. Story line and content was great...

Cyber Punk has been delayed twice and I feel current gen versions will be knocked right back visually to make it perform... Remember Witcher 3 ran quite bad at launch on PS4... Stutters and poor framerates

For me this is a PS5 (when patched), Series X or a bloody good PC purchase.

But first and foremost... Let's see how good the game is first and I don't mean wait for professional reviews.

Re: New Ghost of Tsushima Gameplay Clips are Gorgeous, Show More Combat

Mezzer

Very much looking forward to this. That setting.,audio and combat looks sublime... If a decent story holds up......

Been playing TLOU2 and although that's a ground breaking game in many areas I am kind of getting a bit drawn out with the latter parts.... Death Stranding was odd but kept me intrigued all the way through... as did God Of War... If Ghost can hold up to its promise it will be amazing...

Re: Talking Point: Do You Agree with PS5's Approach to Generations?

Mezzer

@thefirst Fully agree. I never mentioned Sony's previous systems as the topic was PS5 so the PS4 is Sony's current system but yes, PS1,2 and 3 were very well supported right to the end.

I've chatted to a Dev friend of mine and he says the power and efficiency of the PS5 is a major strength and finds it funny how people are thinking that T-flops at a higher level will mean a better console... (Series X)...

Either way, if Sony keep delivering big titles it wont matter. Games are what counts. Its why Nintendo generally do so well. If MS can pull out some big games then Sony may have a harder battle next time out but even still. For me, Sony seems to deliver the games i enjoy the most.

It will be nice to find out more information on June 4th.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Agree with PS5's Approach to Generations?

Mezzer

Sammy, as a gamer from the 70s and one who is a bit fed up of repetitive modern games copying each other and hardware restrictions.... not to mention loot boxes and service games.... I always agree that all new consoles need to have games for that new console otherwise there is little reason to buy.

Having back compatible is fine but nowhere near essential. I have a large collection of PS4 games and I don't need to play them on PS5... Buy a PS4 if people do...

New hardware excitement needs new and ground breaking games. Sony I am sure will deliver quality games on PS5.

Let's not forget TLOU2 and Ghost...plus Sony had showed incredible support on PS4.
