Sony needs it in terms of keeping it's players happy. They have relied heavily on third party deals with Square (which won't happen anymore)?.
Naughty Dog is a premier studio and I would love to see both a new PS5 only Uncharted and also a new IP from them.
Santa Monica Studio...Blue Point, Housemarque ?... plus many others. Insomniac has been carrying the can for Sony for a while...although Stellar Blade is a great game and I hope that game sold well?
Sony has a rich history of games. Maybe get away from open world bs as it's burnt out a long time ago...these new consoles still have shown no further advanced in gameplay...it's all a biy stale for older gamers who have been there and done it. Freshen it up a bit with AAA titles. Indies try to, AA games try to...but big budget AAA games are mostly sequels and play it safe as money and sales becomes more important due to the huge investment to make these showpiece games.
Unfortunately I've hardly touched my PS5 since getting a top spec gaming PC. I was also disappointed with FF16 as the performance mode was terrible and I won't be forced to play at 30fps.
The Dolby Atmos option in the firmware when released publicly is good but one thing I noticed, being a sound guy is how much of a lower bit rate audio is on console compared to PC. Audio on my PC via the same set up as my once Series X and still PS5 is superior.
I've normally slated PC gaming. The last time I games on PC was the late 80s early 90s...and I've pretty much been consoles from the late 70s but a decent modern PC is leagues ahead in so many ways...far cheaper game prices, Steam is an excellent service...superior tweaking options to tailor games to your needs and audio/visual set up and far lower latency...factor in superior RT and 60fps standard, even at 4K... I was surprised how much PC has improved and I love my PS5 but I buy all multi plats on PC now as generally they are superior.
Anyway, this firmwares main point of interest is Atmos but then we need games that support it...
I would prefer to see FF16 patched for smooth 60fps as I paid £60 for this and have not played more than 4 hours as it's rough in performance mode and kills the game.
I keep seeing negative sales predictions with regards to PSVR2. Sony slashing production numbers. Get one thing correct. The gaming media is just as two faced and slimy as the political media...all scoring points and talking bollocks to get a leg up.
PSVR 2 has a problem. Is it a great bit of kit, YES...is it affordable to all, NO. If people have forgotten there is a real issue in the UK right now with the country being a sinking ship and money being tight.
I cancelled my pre order for two reasons. I have PSVR1 and loved it, did i use it much? Not really as it was a hassle to set up. I could not leave it set up and it's an even bigger nightmare to set up to PS5.
I have a Quest 2. Excellent as it is, especially when tethered to a decent PC either by cable for Wireless...but I rarely use it ..
This is my issue. Far more TV screen games in my collection than VR and two is how is motion sickness? I struggle with this and this is why I've back out for now..
I don't want another expensive ornament...
It looks amazing but support and motion sickness...no one is talking about sickness. Quest two I have some issues with motion but I've slowly trained it on PSVR1 but it can leave me groggy for hours...
I have that level of RAM but put the game down on launch day on PS5 as I truly dislike rogue , rinse and repeat games but unfortunately I never knew this going in as Housemarqe and Sony kept it pretty quiet.
Good to see PC gamers getting the game though as a mate told me it's phenomenal if you like this style of game.
Holding out on VR2. I had my invite to purchase but declined. I will wait until there are some true games. I learned this lesson with VR1.
I do use a quest 2 via a powerful PC and half-life Alyx is incredible. VR for me though is something i play from time to time, not often.
Asgard's Wrath. Another stunning PC based quest 2 title... Until is start seeing Astro Bot or a London Studio new IP...I will wait a few months to see how VR2 pans out .. especially things like motion sickness and design.
Had a look for about an hour on PC. Same old mediocre no risks taken video game.
Technically sound but flat in new ideas and innovation.
I find this so much with big budget games the past few years. So many wasted IPs that fail to dare to be refreshing and new.
Games should be fun and offer new ideas. I though the current gen was going to breaths new life into gameplay ideas....not yet and we are two plus years in.
These awards...games are so subjective that award show are just an expensive piss up.
I don't see the point in it. Ragnarok has a superior story to Forbidden West. Elden Ring or Ragnarok could have won this award...both are excellent but Elden Ring is not in the technical league of Ragnarok. Elden is also multiplatform...
Either way some of the other awards are questionable.
Hopefully it's better than the first game? Although it was good it had some rough parts and uneven design choices...
I left the game alone when it was first released due to performance issues and design choices but went back to it when the 60fps mode appeared. This helped the game alot.
PC version is far better than consoles though in terms of performance and tech levels.
The best action/adventure game by a mile but as the first game was so good it does not stand out as fresh , kind of a downfall of being that good.
It's a 9 or 10 depending on how you see it. It's a masterclass in its design and application and I am pleased it followed on the ground foundation of the 2018 game.
Price is wrong though and disgusting. No game should be £60 plus.
I paid £39 for Sonic frontiers on PC (best version) it's £50 on PS5....
Even multiplatform games are more expensive on PS5 for generally a weaker game experience.
I had my invite but will not be pre ordering. I have a quest two connected to a high spec PC (wireless) and it's sublime for any small VR needs I have. Half Life Alyx and Asgard's Wrath are amazing. Boosted significantly by a good GPU/CPU.
PSVR 2 has great tech but I want to see and hear more before I shell out that money. I also want to see big budget games and also Horizon Call of the mountain £60...they can ***** right off. It's obvious Sony is going to price major games sky high.
This is why I now buy multi plats on PC. Saves me a fortune and I get a superior version.
@BeerIsAwesome Sega had it's best days with the Mega drive...that was it's best era.
Sonic was destined to be 2D and when moved into 3D to please modern games Sega loses the original Sonic fans ... It's a double edged sword for Sega. However good this game is, some will like, some will hate...maybe a new audience is the aim? Remember, Sega is a business and needs to make money. No point spending millions making a game and only releasing it to please the old school fans...
Santa Monica did a great job with God Of War...completely changing the game but keeping the soul. Breath Of The Wild...it changed Zelda but kept its soul...
Maybe, just maybe...Sonic is best left in its best era and Sega should invest in new interesting IPs?
@Flaming_Kaiser I absolutely hate this. There are some real ***** morons out there in this world who get satisfaction from uploading endings and story's points.. they clearly have a piss poor life?
Remakes/remasters....is it worth having this current gen?
Getting quite sick of it as someone who has gamed since the late 70s. It's bad enough that PS4 is holding PS5 back. I've actually started moving towards PC... Games like Cyberpunk and Plague Tale Requiem are vastly superior.
@Skyfall that's what I just did. Sick of the compromise. Not played on PC since the 90s but had enough. I first had a 3060 rtx and that out performs my PS5 and SX...most of the time without DLS.
Now have a 3080 V2 LHR set up and although it's not relevant that card is over 25 tflops..
The beauty of PC is the choices. It makes finding your sweet spot superior to console. The visual options are incredible in most games and this gives flexibility to the user. I never grabbed a monitor...I just use my LG OLED TV for PC gaming . It's a HDMI 2.1 set...perfect. It's more expensive to get a decent PC but you have more control and games are far cheaper...Requiem is £30 new digital in some stores...
Gaming is such a disease these days. Between pop up journos who think they know everything about games to scalpers, leakers and more.
I've become less and less interested in consoles which is hard for me as it's been a large part of my life from the 70s.
I've started to head into the PC road map where not only is my low to mid range PC beating my PS5 and Series X I've also hooked up a quest two via PCVR and it's another level compared to console efforts.
My GPU is out performing a PS5 and SX in terms of fidelity and FPS on the same games. The only hope of hanging onto my PS5 is the exclusive titles.
By the way. The Steam Deck was the culprit for kick-starting my PC route along with the childish nonsense that floats around the console world . Factor in those PS5 game prices too. I've picked up 37 games on Steam for less than £150...that's in two months. I can cross play with the Steam Deck and wireless via VR (on VR games).
Most of modern gaming is pretty poor. When you have gamed as long as me you will see the crap a mile away... expectations are rarely met these days in gaming.
VR 2 can be incredible though, bringing new ways to play and to take risks with game design.
I've started back into PC gaming. It was the 90s when I last used a PC for gaming and after getting a Steam Deck I tracked down a standard RTX gfx card for my music composing PC, ten meter 2.1 HDMI lead connected to my OLED giant gaming TV and have literally been taken back by what I've been missing out on and sometimes how stripped back multi plats are on PS5/SX.
Running games like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk,Res 7,DMC5, Fallen Order and more all at better quality and performance than PS5 and SX...and i am only using a 3060 at 1400p and at times 2160p...
I was shocked to see the boost...Shadow of the tomb raider is superior on PC to console. It's opened my eyes, that's for sure.
Grabbed a Steam Deck after much debating. I always game on console, since the late 70s. I was flipping between a gfx card for my music recording PC or a Steam Deck. I decided I do not want a gfx card in my music PC as it's tailored for composing and games will get in the way so the Steam Deck was the perfect choice.
Met the guy today and purchased a brand new Deck as his wife already has one. Looking forward to tinkering.
Of course Nintendo won't. They are on the third edition of their console and it's much, much older and lower quality tech and far easier to produce and they have large profits from sales percentage of their handheld.
Everything in the UK has gone up but people keep going out, going to concerts, activities, sports, pubs, meals out, shopping prices increased, energy, fuel and more...yes let's slam Sony for a one off £30 increase. It's the UK government partly to blame as trade deals etc are all over the place.
MS have so much money that they yet, do not need to lower...but they may do?
Price is a joke. I repeat myself. There should be discount for purchasers of the previous games. I purchased both PS3 and PS4 remaster...people who did the same should get a significant discount for loyalty.. £70 ...maybe £60 at some retail/online stores... Should really be £40 max. It's still the same game as before.
I've just caught up with the snippets of Gamescom opening night. So glad I never watched it in full. It was full of incredibly generic video games and bold statement games that claim to be this and that.....in terms of fresh and original games???
I can fully understand why Sony, Nintendo and even MS keep to their own shows to showcase new work.
Anyone who watched the opening has lost two hours of their life...
Saving...have you seen the ridiculous and criminal energy prices? Having our pants pulled down again whilst the bosses of these companies are taking it in. Forget gaming, let's stand up for ourselves, our rights and decency.
Hope it's not like The Quarry....That was supermassives worst game so far. I like their games but the actual lack of gameplay and the basic nature of what you did play was really bad..it's literally a glorified trashy American semi horror film.
Until Dawn and The Dark Picture games actually had superior gameplay, and frame rates.
I feel gamers had to pay the high price to pay for the actors in this game...
So, please if this new game is a thing from this Brit Dev team then don't go down Supermassives latest route....
An excellent RPG. 6 is far too low. As a Jrpg fan (though it's Chinese) Sword And Fairy is a nice throw back of simpler gameplay, phenomenal art and incredible music.
It's a breath of fresh air.
Yes it's translation is below par, there are the typical Unreal 4 bugs and glitches but bare in mind this game is not on an endless budget.
It's a silky smooth, action adventure game with a beautiful world, action based battles and sublime music...
@Milktastrophe it's a game. What makes games entertaining and fun is to be void of political *****. Jokes and humor are not a representation of actual thoughts and feelings.
Too many people are so weak. Games are an escape and elements of the day to day real world should not come into play. GTA thrives on its humor , jokes and taking the piss in a light hearted way...taking that away kills the soul of the game ....games are an escape, fun and should never cross with political agendas and nonsense.
I won't touch it with a barge pole. Over-hyped, sometimes bringing in idiots from Hollywood that has nothing to do with games. These shows are cringe worthy at times...sorry but they truly are.

Re: UK Sales Charts: Dragon's Dogma 2, Rise of the Ronin Off to a Weak Start at Retail
Well. Too expensive and people have less money?
Ronin although not a bad game should never be £70...£40 is good.
DD2 is also over priced unless you grab a key on PC. I paid £35 and it was money well spent on an excellent video game...if you have the hardware?

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion?
Had it on PSP and it was average. Just because it has FF in character and title does not means it's a good game.
I grabbed it on Steam. It's still just okay. I refunded it as it was far to repetitive. It's a good remaster but it's not a great game.

Ridiculous. But then a RTX 3060 has more power than the PS5 and SX GPU...

£35... A bargain
Re: Shuhei Yoshida Talks Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Siren in Insightful Interview
@NB-DanTE you are right but, hardly anyone purchased these games...a real shame .
Re: Shuhei Yoshida Talks Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, Siren in Insightful Interview
Gravity Rush and Puppeteer were absolutely superb video games. Extremely fresh and unique something that is fading alot over recent years.
Re: GTA 6 Will Set 'Creative Benchmarks' for All Entertainment
@Milktastrophe it's a game. What makes games entertaining and fun is to be void of political *****. Jokes and humor are not a representation of actual thoughts and feelings.
Too many people are so weak. Games are an escape and elements of the day to day real world should not come into play. GTA thrives on its humor , jokes and taking the piss in a light hearted way...taking that away kills the soul of the game ....games are an escape, fun and should never cross with political agendas and nonsense.
Re: GTA 6 Will Set 'Creative Benchmarks' for All Entertainment
As always. Proof is in the pudding. Heard so many devs claim this over many years and it rarely is true upon release.
The most fresh and unique AAA game in recent years is Death Stranding. Like it or not, that's the truth.
Re: Gamescom Opening Night Live Stream Is Somehow Two Hours Long with Over 30 Games
@JaxxDuffer absolutely agree. That was terribly bad and not needed.
Re: Gamescom Opening Night Live Stream Is Somehow Two Hours Long with Over 30 Games
I won't touch it with a barge pole. Over-hyped, sometimes bringing in idiots from Hollywood that has nothing to do with games. These shows are cringe worthy at times...sorry but they truly are.
Re: Sony Coy on Potential PS5 Price Increase
Clearly depends on different countries,taxes.. prices are going up for all of us. Businesses are upping prices as costs to run are higher than ever..
Bare in mind. Sony may also be planning a cheaper price...
