Re: PS5 Fans Think Sony's Accidentally Leaked a Wireless PSVR2 Headset

NeonPizza

New PSVR2 > (Feb 2025)

  • Wireless to PS5/PS5 Pro connectivity (Including a detachable cable for tethered play for those who want zero image compression and no input delay.)
  • Slim design
  • Ring-less controllers
  • Pancake lenses
  • QD-LCD FALD display
  • Audio speakers - (And headphone jack)
  • Padded interface for improved comfort
  • Colour passthrough
  • Mixed reality mode
  • IPD dial with numbers
  • Traditional Duel Sense Analog sticks on controllers

If this actually happened, I'd die. lol Followed up with a flashy trailer consisting of >

  • Resident Evil 9 VR mode
  • Astro Bot: Rescue Mission+
  • PSVR2 Worlds
  • House of the Dead 2 Remake VR
  • Half Life Alex
  • Bioshock VR
  • Sin & Punishment: Star Successor VR (3rd person VR)
  • Mixed Reality Games!
    etc

A New PSVR2 with the following Feature/Spec list above, combined with a PS5 Pro would nearly put my Stand alone Quest 3 in a Coffin, strictly in terms of VR & MR games, with the exception of Q3 exclusives. Sony could seriously give the PSVR2 a second lease on life if they wanted to.

Re: Lack of Competition from Xbox Partly Why PS5 Pro Is $700, Says Analyst

@tangyzesty
So MS is going to venture into the Cloud, or whatever it's called and start streaming Xbox games with Amazon or something? While also porting over their exclusives to current and future Nintendo & PlayStation consoles? If so, sounds good to me.

I've fine with two consoles only, and by axing out the predictably boring company, that's in a distant 3rd place, that strives to do nothing unique, inventive or innovative is probably a good thing. XSX as a console, feels like just another can on an assembly line in my eyes.

I wish it was Nintendo & Sega all over again, but PlayStation is most definitely a better choice than XSX, at least for me anyways.

Re: Lack of Competition from Xbox Partly Why PS5 Pro Is $700, Says Analyst

NeonPizza

@NEStalgia
I can't stand the XSX, or MS in general.
No Adaptive triggers, no Gyro, No haptics(or even base HD Rumble), Loosey Goosey cheap analog sticks, a horrific clicky non-traditional god awful D-pad(Possibly the worst D-pad in existence), Cheap feeling face buttons, Rough textured backside, I'm not a fan of most of it's exclusives and MS just doesn't have an innovative bone in their body. They truly are the epitome of being stupidly predictable and safe. I do like the XSX's L2 & R2 Dreamcast-like triggers though, i'll give it that. Plus the Robot White variant 'looks' really nice, with the colored B,A,X & Y buttons and all. But eh, to me it's important that videos games strive to be unique, innovative, unnusual, to stand out and push forward, rather than being another can on an assembly line.

PS5 Pro will be the most powerful console on the market. Then you have haptics, gyro, adaptive triggers, VR support(Now enhanced further by PS5 Pro), and exclusives like Astro Bot, Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy and whatever else.

Besides, I'm only paying $700 CAD for the Pro, after i sell off my Launch PS5. It's either that or a PC + Quest 3. But eh, I just find consoles far more appealing than opting for the friction point-heavy PC route.

Also, gotta love all of the pathetic click baiting YouTube influencers with the redundant negative head lines trashing PS5 Pro's sticker price. How many goober heads do we need to tell us that it's an expensive console? At the end of the day, they're just capitalizing off of what's hot and new. Clicks & Hits, to make some extra $$$ with their lazy half baked try hard 'pretend' radio host nonsense. lol Howard stern must be dying right now. Another reason why i can't stand the internet and 'that' side of YouTube.

The days of video game magazines(Nintendo Power, GamePro, Official Dreamcast Magazine, Game Fan, EGM etc) back in the 90's was the best. Or being limited by just a few news outlets or professional reviewers online. Now it's become a cesspool with thousands of YouTubers voicing their opinions on everything and everything. too many Reviews, previous, news regurgitation, mostly fake reaction videos, 'lets play' videos from attractive female gamers banking on younger simps etc. My head is about to explode. Screw the times! 1989 is where it's at! lol You've gotta be an old soul to survive the bleak snow globe we're currently living in. lol

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

@Vaako007
I hear ya. But that level of fandom and devotion is typically coming from the younger generation. I'm nearly 40 now, and taking teams in the land of video games doesn't make a lick of sense to me anymore, or feeling as if you need to buy every single piece of tech within a consoles eco system even if you're not interested, weather it's because the price is too high or it has zero appeal, but then buying it anyways because of aka fandom.

Do what makes you happy at the end of the day obviously. I'll be getting PS5 Pro, most likely day one for $700 CAD after i sell off my launch PS5...I mean, I thought about it, and i just don't like idea of buying some anti-plug n' play PC. Getting games up and running supposedly is like a mini ritual, there's bugs, games can crash, just the messyness of it all(Friction points!), higher sticker price and confusion going into it turns me off. The main appeal is being able to use my Quest 3 with it for great graphics compared to stand alone tablet power. But i don't know.

Switch OLED, PS5 Pro + PSVR2 & Quest 3 is what i'll probably be rolling with by Nov 7.

Re: Mini Review: Rugrats: Adventures In Gameland (PS5) - Fun and Frustration in This Nostalgia Trip

NeonPizza

@roe
Search for Raptar was it? I remember getting that one on Christmas Eve of 98', along with Cool Boarders 2 & Parapa the Rappa for PS1 when i was 14 years old.

I actually kind of enjoyed Search for Raptar in it's day, in all of it's first wave primitive 3D Glory, which I'm sure has aged worse than a bag of cool ranch chips from the 90's.

Ren & Stimpy was the to-go-to in the land of Nick cartoons back in the early 90's. Next I'd go Doug, then Rug Rats.
Ah Real Monsters! wasn't too shabby either, and maybe Rocko's Modern Life.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

NeonPizza

@Mikey856
For starters, these people that aren't doing so hot financially, could just sell off their launch or Slim PS5 and shave off around $400 cad, making the PS5 Pro in the end cost around 700 after taxes. Not the end of the world.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

NeonPizza

@Vaako007
It's probably those die hard Sony fans that feel as if they're obligated or forced to buy and consume every single PlayStation product within it's ecosystem. It's hysterical.

Buy it, or don't buy it. Just stick with the launch PS5 or Slim and move on with your life. Wasn't directing that at you obviously! You get it.

Re: Talking Point: Is PS5 Pro Way Too Expensive?

NeonPizza

As expected, YouTube is becoming overraturated with click bait PS5 Pro videos, with mostly hyperbolic negative headers and blah blah.

I'd love to see more of a focus on just how abysmal, lifeless, soulless, bleak and depressing Sony's presentation & Vibe has become for their State of plays & Commercials, just their overall image since the 2000's. But nope, everybody is boringly fixated on the PS5 Pro's high sticker price. It's an easy PC at the end of the day.

Buy it, or don't buy it. Nobody cares. lol Complaining about the sticker price won't change anybody elses mind that's dead set on getting the thing. You'll be looking at just under $1100 CAD after taxes btw. still 3x less than a 65" QD-OLED Samsung S90D TV.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

NeonPizza

Time for the cesspool of YouTube influencer/content creators to start pumping out boring PS5 Pro reveal 'personal takes', while re-uploading or regurgitating leaked State of play PS5 Pro console footage and blah blah. I'm sick of it all. lol How many goober heads do we honestly need making the same old unoriginal news/leaked footage videos?

Back then we had Game Pro, Nintendo Power, Game Fan & Electronic Gaming Monthly. 2 or 3 magazine outlets were enough, instead of these unprofessional wannabees soaking up my YouTube Wall, attempting to report the news with their half baked fake radio voice.

Re: Don't Worry, You Can Add an Ultra HD Disc Drive to PS5 Pro

NeonPizza

I couldn't care less about PS5 Physical media. Flimsy blu-ray-like cases slathered with legal text agreement with a none-flashy disc inside. Whatever. PS1 physical media was cool, but PS3 and on wards has been awful.

I'd rather have a limited time 1 hour return window policy when buying a digital game just in case I dont like it. It's pretty gutting paying $90 CAD after tax for a big game only to wind up disliking it.

Re: Poll: Are You Sold on PS5 Pro?

NeonPizza

Meh. If PC wasn't an option, I'd get it day one as a side console next to my Switch OLED. But at $949 CAD, now you're jumping into the realm of PC pricing. And PC supports Quest 3 Steam VR. Think I might finally opt for the latter.

Re: PS5 Pro Announced, Costs $700 and Out in November

NeonPizza

I almost want to just drop PlayStation 5 and get a PC.
Their latest PS5 Pro unveiling, as expected, was soulless, corporate and bleak. Zero flash, just another lazy depressing dark-vibed' ominous junk presentation hosted by an uncool version of Garth from Wane's World, showing off many of their hyper realistic cinematic snooze fest of exclusives. Are they trying get us excited, or put us in a state of depression?

Sony was so much more fun when they embodied mid 90's pop culture with PS1...I don't know, it's either PS5 Pro as a side console next to my Switch OLED or a PC with a bit more power than a PS5 Pro.

And as expected, PS5 Pro is just another two tone black & white box...But with 3-4 black stripes strapped to the side. Mind blown. lol That's the future for ya! lol. Nintendo is the only company left with less than half their soul intact these days. They're more corporate, beat for beat and boring and are a complete shadow of their former 80's & 90's-self, but still a lot more up beat and cheery' than PS & MS.

Sony needs to lighten up, maybe take a page from their PS1 days, and catch a rainbow or two.

Re: PS5 Pro Showcase Set for Tomorrow, Hosted by Mark Cerny

NeonPizza

@Zenos
lol Too many PS5 games force you to choose between resolution/graphics or performance mode. I want both, which is where the Pro comes in, in all of it's two tone character-less black & white sterile boring glory. That's the future for ya, here's your black & white f*****g box. lol

PS1 was so much more fun and unique looking, with it's Rainbow coloured PlayStation logo, Teal & Light blue accents and multi-coloured controller face buttons. Sony really embraced the mid 90's and it showed >

Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time

NeonPizza

@RubyCarbuncle
I've only completed the first world in MM(Q3), and haven't even gotten the air dash(etc) just yet which should make a world of a difference and beef up the platforming. I'm probably not even 1/4 into the game, so my opinion is a bit weak sauce at best.

And It should be better than Rescue Mission in terms of game play considering the time gap between the two, but in terms of core visuals, Rescue Mission is clearly in a different league. But to perfectly fair we're comparing a budget indie game to a first party JPN developed big budget Sony game, utilizing the power of a PS4 Pro with less than over 2x the resolution.

Quest 3's stand alone power supposedly is somewhere in between a PS4 & PS4 Pro, but it's pushing over 2K per eye which eats up more power, and then you have to factor in the limited budget, smaller team and Astro Bot's Asobi just being more talented in general than MaxMustard devs.

Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time

NeonPizza

@Frmknst
How would you stack it up against something like Super Mario Odyssey?
I can't imagine AB coming close, unless they applied VR to it. VR-ify the thing, regardless if it wasn't designed with VR in mind. Stereoscopic 3D, life sized characters & environments, and pitting you, the player, in 3rd person VR will make it at least 100x more enjoyable.

Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time

NeonPizza

@electrolite77
This is why physical is so important. Because you can return or sell it if it isn't for you. Digital? Due to the lack of a return window/return policy, you're stuck with it weather you like it or not. And that's essentialy $90 down the toilet.

I wish AB got VR-ified. I didn't care for Astro's Playroom at all aside from how well it utilized Haptics, Adaptive triggers and some of the gyro. Rescue Mission in VR however was mind blowing. two big missed opportunities here with both games. One stuck on an old headset, and the other restricted to a flat screen.

I'm stil getting it, but not as enthusiastic nor excited as many of the people on here. I'm actually looking more forward to the upgraded released of Max Mustard for PSVR2 this Oct. 3rd.

Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time

NeonPizza

@reek
Agreed! Rescue Mission VR is one of the most mind blowing gaming experiences i had in the last 20 years. It's a crying shame that it never got optimized and ported over to PSVR2, including this new one which unfortunately will feel like nothing compared to how it could of been on PSVR2, Vs even the best 65" flatscreen QD-OLED(Samsung S90D). I'll be getting it, but am i excited?....Not really.

And sure, Astro's Playroom made great use of the Duel sense's haptics & Adaptive triggers, but as a pseudo platformer/tech demo it failed to bring in the fun. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Rescue mission however had me from start to finish. It's kind of like the Mario 64 of VR platforming and has the potential to convert none-gamers into gamers. The boss battles are jaw dropping too! That Giant Robot shark towards the end of the game was pretty frikkin startling. And the way the game uses motion weapon based controls was just brilliant.

Beachside Boogie was easily one of the stand out stages, and almost felt like a love letter to Nintendo. Descending down into that little ocean world was just pure magic. Or, beng inside that whale and having the water submerge above and below you was also a sight to behold. on PSVR2, it would of looked all the more stunning upgraded to 2000x2040 per eye with 110d FOV.

For now, we've got Max Mustard heading to PSVR2 this Oct 3. I have it on Quest 3 and it's pretty awesome! No, it's no AstrBot Rescue Mission, but the 2K per eye @90fps on PSVR2 will make it a lot more visually appealing as far as resolution and motion is concerned compared to RM on PSVR1.

I'm actually more interested in playing through MM on PSVR2 than the latest AB(2025) Sure, MM may not look like much on Video, until you actually experience it and are IN it in VR. Than It's a whole new ball game.

Re: Do You Want Astro Bot on PC? Creative Director Wants to Know

NeonPizza

@NEStalgia

I'm torn. I'm the ultimate flip flopping flamingo. lol
It's either PC, with at least the power of a PS5 Pro + Quest 3(While also using my PSVR2, for it's deep blacks & richer/vibrant colours, and zero image compression which may be preferable depending on the game)

Or PS5 Pro, while still keeping my PSVR2, and using Quest 3 solely in stand alone mode.

I love the idea of an 'easy' plug n' play affordable PC/Power console, and the PS5 Pro is it. But i just wish i could connect my Q3 to it for more VR power, that, or an XSX. Yet i hate the PS5's sterile dystopian Eco system, and Robot grave yard ambient UI menu theme. Thank god you can turn that sh** off in the settings. I'm a broken record I know.

Anyways, I'm completely clueless when it comes to PC. How much would i be looking at, CAD, for an entire PC rig with PS5 Pro-tier power. My guess is that the PS5 Pro will be at least $799 CAD and launch early NOV this year.
